For information purposes, they are all titanium staples. I said that about Dr Alvarez because that's what he told me when we face-timed. (that both of the makes are good but some prefer covidian over j&j) I'm not sure why this is even an issue? we are all in this together! It's not a competition! Dr Aceves, Dr Alvarez and Dr Kelly all said the same thing: they prefer covidian. All have used both Covidian and J&J and all prefer covidian, but all also said J&J is just fine, just a little more cumbersome. -

FTR, it's not a "special" stapler, and most of these drs use either covidian or J&J. I know this because I asked every one of them and they all had the same answer. . -
It really depends on what I said above. The drain would not be a guaranteed identifier of a leak anyway. So it's dependent on your doctor, your size, how surgery goes, etc. some doctors put drains in all, some put them in only when necessary.

Dr Kelly does use drains sometimes. It really depends on how surgery goes and whether or not he feels it is necessary. People are scared of them but you really shouldn't be!

Was wondering if anyone knows anything about the healthy aspects of home made bone broth? I've read that the collagen in it is super healthy for the gut. Thoughts?

Because I have had some issues with heartburn, I requested that Dr Kelly scope me before surgery to make sure everything is healthy and OK for surgery. We are planning to do it first, and then go to surgery if everything is OK. Has anyone else been scoped? Does it leave you with a sore throat?
