Just wanted to let those who are interested in Dr. Kelly that I spoke with Omar today and he's pretty awesome!!! And also to try to get more people to join Dr. Kelly's FB page. Omar is hoping to work more with that in the future!!! http://www.facebook.com/drramoskelly

I wanted to let those who haven't heard yet - Dr. Kelly does have the new coordinator, Omar. I spoke with him at length today and he was SO nice!!! Trying to get caught up after the email fiasco and get things organized for Dr. K. Very knowledgable and helpful! I texted him several times, and we are emailing and we talked on the phone. So don't give up on Dr. Kelly! I am sure we will all be very happy with our decisions!!! Oh and Dr. Kelly has a brand new facebook page that Omar will eventually develop as well - but the more of us who support them and post on their page the better!!!! http://www.facebook.com/drramoskelly

I know I read a thread about it on here somewhere but I can't find it. I believe it is more common in bypass patients. But I'd sure like for anybody who has any info to comment....

I seriously feel stress that I won't be able to gorge myself on my favorite foods any more!!! It's definitely a mental thing.

I did find out after we talked today that their email has been hacked, and that they would be contacting patients soon. I'm still planning to go to him but am also waiting to hear from a few others who are scheduled with him soon.

I just ordered their sample pack and tried the cherry so far, it was really good!

Ive had the same problem and I'm not happy. I sent emails to both he and Ana earlier this week and have heard nothing.

I just had the BEST face time conversation with Dr. Alvarez! What an incredibly nice man! If it wasn't for the fact that I'd have to fly there and then be unable to go back for follow up, I'd totally use him... and how many U.S. surgeons would take time out of their day to facetime a NON-patient??? I am so impressed. That said, one thing he suggested we all look for in our surgeons, is follow up care and accessibility. He said to make sure you have access to your doctor post-op and that you are sent home with instructions and support. Seems like common sense, but I have seen a few people here comment that they were unable to reach their surgeon or coordinator after surgery. So my question is for both Aceves and Kelly patients... how do you feel about your post op support and communication?

It is common and was almost a deal breaker for me at first! But it will grow back. It just takes time. I'm increasing my protein and supplements a few months before surgery to try to help with it, but since I have very thin hair too, I know I'll lose it.

I am in the same exact boat. My PCP started telling me about her patients who have DIED from the lap band (which I don't want anyway) and how her bypass patients are anemic, lose all their hair, etc. then she said the VSG is the "latest thing". THEN she told me to watch biggest loser and see how much work it takes! I was very disappointed. Then I spoke with Dr Alvarez today and he basically said he is amazed at the results with this and that people of our size do really well with it. (I am a BMI of 34). He also said that while we are not morbidly obese, it WILL catch up to us eventually. I highly rec you read his book. It is chock full of really good info. I think the US is really behind on this as a preventive method.
