Did I Make A Mistake In My Clear Liquids Stage?
luvrkb replied to Ready for the new Lay-Lay's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Sounds like you are on full liquids rather than clear liquids. The only clear protein I know of is isopure. If you are on full liquids than any protein drink is fine. They don't want you to do milk early on as you can easily become lactose intolerant. But it is my understanding that soy milk is ok. -

Bogie size doesn't really matter. You could have a 32 loose or a 40 tight that are the same size. It is just a guide for the surgeons. It depends how tight they pull the skin around it. Mine did a 36 tight.

I like to mix crystal light flavors. My favorite combo raspberry ice mixed with lemonade. yum.

Ow did you decide your personal weight goal? I started at 5'4 / 219, at 205 now 6 days post op. Did you go by bmi numbers? "Normal" for my height is 117-150. That's a huge range. What Helped your goal setting number? My surgeon just said that I can expect to get down to a normal bmi.

Did You Or Are You Keeping Your Sleeve A Secret?
luvrkb replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I told my immediate family and a couple close friends. I don't hide it tho and don't expect others to either. If someone asks how I am loosing all the weight I will tell them. Most ppl are jealous. -

I get a pressure feeling by my sternum. -
I am 8 days post op and everyday is getting better but since yesterday, my stomach area (2 inches up and 2 inches to the right of my belly button is a burning aching pain. Is anyone else feeling this? I am tolerating foot well. Able to eat about 1/2- 1 cup mushies. It is not intense pain. More like a 5/10. Where as until yesterday was between 1-4/10. I am thinking deep bruising from the surgery? Scheduled to see doc on thurs. should I be freaking out?

I had these same fears too. You are going through withdrawal from sugar and your mind is tricking you to feel deprived and "never going to be the same.". If you want to have an Arby's sandwich, eventually you will be able to. Just a half or something- but you probrably won't want to b/c your body isn't going to be ravinashly craving the sugar anymore. Your stomach feels like a normal person after and you don't find this need to pour everything in your mouth as fast as you can to get that full feeling. I was craving Mexican yesrerday and missing it. I had found refried beans and melted cheese, tasted awesone and about 1/4 cup of food makes you thanksgiving full. So you feel totally satisfied. Think about when you are getting sick and you have that feeling of not wanting to eat. That's what it's like. You don't even really want that Arby's sandwich. It is VERY freeing.

THANKS everyone for coming together here and supporting me and each other. I have found so much useful information here. Starting at a lower BMI, I faced some negative reactions to this surgery (i also dont flaunt having sleep apnea and PCOS) and your encouragement and same stories makes me know this was the right choice. So Thank you all.

As anyone gone to OA? I feel like I need a support system and help with the addiction side of it. The support groups thru the surgeons office was not great. The one I went to a lady was crying and having a tough time and the facilitator kept apologizeing to the group and saying she hoped we weren't scared out of it now. Made me think that's not a great place to get support!!! Weight watchers?

Ping ok with mushy solids, but can't stop taking in air with drinking. Taking small sips, no straws etc.... After every swallow I feel gas bubbles and can hear it swirling around. Any suggestions?

Extremely Nervous About Upcoming Sleeve Surgery On 5/21/12.
luvrkb replied to banksdea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a total wreck bf surgery. I had doubts when waiting to go into the or. Even after for the first 24 hours I kept saying what have I done? But I am now only 4 days out and feeling really encouraged. I feel better every day, barely nauseous. And ready to concour this weight demon. -
Yet saw on dr oz. take any kind of Greek yogurt and put in a plastic bag. Clip the corner and squeeze bite size drops on a cookie sheet. Freeze for 2 hours and then suck on them. Can put in baggies for easy snaking. I like this idea for a healthy snack for the kiddos too!

Am 2 days out. Much better today. Lost 11 pounds in 9 days since starting the protein shakes. Very sore abdomen, but sipping away. Got 3/4 of my protein in and working on the water intake. I am so head hungry tho. Everything smells so delish! Scared I will be able to do this once u can eat more.
-
Wow, your surgeon is very conservative with the food progression. I could do without the mushiness, but you must b so tired w/o the protein.
-
Def. you too. I had 1/2 turkey meatball and 2 bites of sweet mashed pots. Was good. It is better if I keep hydrated enough.
