Will Start Solid Food Soon - Need Opinion On Some Foods..
VJSlim replied to VJSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the helpful reply! I'll definitely try out the cottage cheese. -
A hearty welcome! 44 lbs in 2 weeks?! Now I'm jealous LOL. You are doing great! I'm struggling with getting in the Protein and I'm still falling short of the required amount. But I'm going to up the protein intake from today. And I agree with all the responses. Stay hydrated and concentrate on the Proteins and take it easy! All the best in your weight loss journey!

Will Start Solid Food Soon - Need Opinion On Some Foods..
VJSlim replied to VJSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It surely does! But what about the fat content in the cheese. I'm not a big cheese fan (except for cottage cheese which I love). So I dont really know if that fat content is going to mess with my weight loss. -
Shortness Of Breath Five Days Post Op
VJSlim replied to nancy_marie_00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. But I had asthma early in my school days and used to have a bit of wheezing trouble every now and then. But my doc had me practice on a device called Respirometer (it is a small device with three cylindrical columns each having a small plastic ball). I practiced inhaling and exhaling through that device which allows you to make full use of your lungs. This helped me a great deal post-op. But I still had to use a nebulizer for the first two days. And the gas bubbles - that is normal too. You could probably ask for some meds if it gets worse coz I had a bad time with gas and had to take the meds for a month. -

Thanks for your advice, unbanded! I'll surely run it by my doc and get his advice before starting to eat chicken. I'm really apprehensive about reintroducing chicken in my diet too. The last time I ate chicken, it was 2 years ago and before that it was a good 8 or 9 years of vegetarian and egg diet. I'm considering chicken only because I dont know other protein rich vegetarian food. I'm going to do more research on that front! -
That is awesome! All the best in your weight loss journey!!

Thanks for all your replies! I too eat Protein first, veggies next and only if I have room, do I eat carbs. But I dont think I'm getting in enough protein now. I'll take protein mix twice from today to meet the requirements but that is going to be really hard coz I just hate it. But now that I take protein mix with orange juice, it surely helps! I'll have to check with my doc about what else I can take that will suit my sleeve. I've not tried anything 'ambitious' with my sleeve yet LOL. -
As my doc advised clear liquids for one month from surgery, I used to have clear vegetable broth/soup, orange/apple juice, tender coconut water (yummy!) and water.

1 Month Post With Pictures

Great job!! Congrats! -
Better to cheat in your dreams than in reality. But seriously, a cookie or two a week is not going to injure us. So dream away and indulge occassionaly. But keep track of how often you indulge.

No Weight Loss With My New Sleeve This Week
VJSlim replied to Tracey37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dont worry. Stalls are very common in this journey. I'm 6 weeks post op and havent lost weight for almost a week now. Same thing happened to me on the 3rd week too, but in the mid of 4th week I lost about 4.5 pounds so I wouldnt be bothered. Your sleeve will never go wrong. It just takes time to adjust. -

How Long Does Hair Loss Last?
VJSlim replied to CoffeeBean's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
From what I've read in this forum about this topic, everyone says that you never go bald - thats a good news! Coz I have had very thin hair even pre-op. That said, it is good to take iron and vitamin meds for hair loss. My doc prescribed some for me and it does make a difference though only to a smaller degree for me because there was not enough 'material' to begin with LOL -
Soup-a-Woman: Totally off topic - but I mistakenly clicked the Report button on your comment instead of Quote button the first time. But I closed the link right away so I dont think anything major happened. But just wanted to let you know - just in case. Totally unintentional and all blame goes to my stupid stupid mouse pointer that is not moving as fast as I desire.

Well said! LOL revtoby - don't worry. It is normal.

20 Min When I Started 1/2 Mile 3Months Out 9 Min Mile Now!

AWESOME! Congrats on this fabulous NSV! -
Hi, I tried Protein powder with orange juice -- it is soooo yummy. Almost like a milk shake but not quite - coz the powder is not mixing well with my orange juice even after I mixed it in a blender for about 30 seconds. I use Optifast (a Nestle product) coz thats what my doc prescribed. As I have said before, I'm from India and dont know much abt the other products. I'll be asking about other brands available here to my doc when I visit him two weeks later. But I was just wondering if I need to add something else to the mix to make sure the powder is not 'lumpy' (for the lack of a good word - coz its not really lumpy - it is just sort of grainy). Any thoughts?

Protein Powder In Orange Juice...
VJSlim replied to VJSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, Liliana! The 'grainy' stuff is not much of a problem. I just thought a smooth mix will make me look forward to the Protein mix that much more.. But I have to say - mixing it with Orange juice is soooo much better than mixing it with milk/water!! -

Hmm -- I kinda feel the same way too. I wouldnt say I would be bitter, but perhaps a bit cynical. I surely wouldnt know what to do with the extra attention. However, this surgery surely has boosted my self confidence. I was never short on confidence with anything related to my work or my studies or my personality. But I never realized that the self-image that I had on my mind about myself was purely as a 'brainy'. All my colleagues call me that and I didnt realize that I was in that cacoon and have been hesitating to see me in another dimension - purely physical. Even now, 6 weeks past surgery, I'm just learning to accept my body as part of that self-image. This surgery was my only chance at a healthy life. But it feels good to know that it has so many un-anticipated good side-effects. legnarevocrednu - I wish you all success in your journey!
