Fat Consumption For A Day..
VJSlim replied to VJSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the fast reply, dorrie! I didnt worry about fat either -- until today. The yogurt that I bought today weighs 136gms a cup. It had 2gms of fat and 3 gms of Protein per 100gm serving. I'm planning to have 2 cups a day - which will be 5.4 gms of fat and 8 gms of protein approx. I just wanted to know if this is a conservative number. -

I have a beautiful picture hung on my wall: it shows a victorious man at the Himalayan peak waving a flag, with this quote on the flag. I saw this picture in a store some months back and was deeply impressed. It really does make you want to strive to unlock your hidden potential to be great!

Glad that you are going into the surgery with a confident and positive outlook. This forum gave me that confidence to go into my surgery. These days, VST is the first thing I open on my browser when I wake up LOL. And all the best for a safe surgery and speedy recovery!!!

VJSlim replied to DanityChai's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Both of you are making the right decision!! Getting sleeved was probably the best thing that has happened in my life! I pray that you both have a safe surgery without any complications and that you have a speedy recovery! -
WOW that was a really inspirational post! I believe the same - God really has given us a new lease on life. I look forward to everyday and appreciate all things in life, however small they may seem to others. I wish you all success in your weight loss journey!

You did a great job avoiding temptation! The first few weeks, when my family sat around for dinner, I just had my mushies in my room - I didnt feel confident enough to be near my favorite food that soon past surgery. LOL

You look gorgeous! Congrats on your weight loss!!

Dont Regret This But This Is So Hard
VJSlim replied to Kim91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry you are feeling bad! Have you tried something different with your diet? At 5 months post-op I think your sleeve would be able to handle a bit of spices? I used to eat non-vegetarian food during my childhood, but for the past 12 years I have been a vegetarian/eggetarian (though I had some chicken 2 years ago when I was in US). I have now started taking fish(salmon). I feel that a bit of spices enhance the flavor and help me eat the fish without feeling nauseous. Sorry - not sure how much of help this is. But I hope you start feeling better soon! -
I had my goal as 143 lbs (65 kgs) initially - I didnt look for 'normal' BMI, I just thought 143 sounded reasonable since that was my weight during college (8 yrs ago). But then I thought maybe I should have something even lower, so that even if I just make it to 143, I will still be happy 143 is still overweight for my height (5 feet exactly) but I think I will look and feel better at 143 than now.

I am 7 weeks post op and I'm still on soft and mushed solids diet. Even if you are on a solid diet, I dont think a cheeseburger is a good idea at this point in time. Hang in there -- the sleeve will work as it is supposed to when we feed it right. You could check with your nutritionist about what are the right food choices at this point. Take care of yourself!!

What Do You Like About Yourself? It's A Tell All!
VJSlim replied to Lyra's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I like my eyes and smile - a lot of people comment that I have a beautiful face. My friends were very concerned that I may go all hard angles after the WLS, but till now that hasn't happened. So I'm kinda hoping that I retain what my friends call a 'charming' face (whatever that means LOL) And this has nothing to do with weight: Last week I took a cab back from work and once I reached home and settled the money, the cab driver said I had a great voice and that it is really rare to hear such a sweet voice! Ofcourse, I blushed and stammered a thanks but I was grinning the whole week (still do LOL). That was such an unexpected compliment. I have had many friends say my voice is good, but never has a stranger complimented me on it. -
I didnt even know there were chat rooms -- guess I haven't explored the site well enough!

Whats The Skinny? Saturday
VJSlim replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be prepared to work hard -- this journey will also be hard just like everything else in your life that is valuable. But the difference is, you've got a tool that will never fail you if you give a 100%. -
Is Amway Nutrilite a good choice for Protein supplement? I used to take Positrim to help with weight loss a couple of years back. I did lose some weight, however, the taste was aweful! I dont want to buy an entire 500g tin of Nutrilite only to dislike the taste and waste it. So your opinion pls? I dont get much choices in Protein suppliments (unflavored or mildly flavored) in India. So I need to find something suitable. Would greatly appreciate if you could also help me with this: What is the optimum composition of ingredients that I should look for in a Protein powder? Like percentage of whey isolate etc? My next doc's appointment is on Mar 9. So I'll be asking him to recommend some other product than Optifast, but I just wanted to prepare myself.

I cant relate to not having your husband's empathy because I was never married. But I sure can understand how disappointing and frustrating it can be.. Like others said, maybe he wants to see the old confident you. But anyway, dont worry too much about it. every pound you lose will be replaced with a pound of self-confidence!

Sleeping On Your Tummy
VJSlim replied to Reddi4change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was my nightmare for the first 2 weeks. I have asthma and have never slept on my back. So I was half-awake all the time the first two weeks and had huge soft pillows on my side so that I dont roll over on my tummy. I miss sleeping on my tummy Take care of yourself! -
Talk about transformation! WOW! You've done an AWESOME job, warrior68! And yeah - screw those who do not see how much hard work has gone into this inspiring weight loss journey! I have been so reluctant in hitting the gym coz I've never been good with exercising. Seeing your pics has inspired me! I guess any time I think of quitting exercise, I'll just have to look at your before-after pic!!
