    The First Week Post Op

I absolutely loved tender coconut water. These are very common in India and there will be a vendor every few hundred meters or so. So I never ran out of these LOL. They are so sweet and delicious!!! I also had clear pomogranate juice (without sugar). And other fruit juices with milk.
  2. Dont give up on the Protein -- we dont have a choice - its really necessary. Though I dont crave the foods that I used to love pre-op, I dont really dislike anything. I'm loving Veggies, all kinds of lentils, fish and chicken. I bet you'll find more food that your sleeve loves as you reach 3 months. That was when I was cleared for solid food, and I found that I loved fish. Pre-op, I was not too keen on non-vegetarian food. I just used to have eggs. Now, I eat fish atleast thrice a week. Hang in there, and take care of your body!!

    Week One!

solid food so soon after surgery is not advisable. It would be the best to go back to liquid diet. There is another disadv to solid foods this early -- your body will not adjust so soon and will keep producing acid in the same amts pre-surgery. Like Lissa said, you'll very soon be back to solid foods. So dont take the risk of damaging your sleeve. All the best for a successful weight loss journey!

    Weight Loss Slow

I dont know how to label myself -- slow or average? I mean, when I lose, I lose soooo quick. Like just after TOM, I lost more than 5 lbs in that week alone. Then it just stoped. Nothing for the next three weeks. It happened to me the last two months. Need to check if this is still true this month. My doc says that 8 to 10 lbs a month is a good amount for the second and third months. So I would not really know if my 11 lbs the second month was just a fluke or if I'm really an average loser (and not slow) till my 3 month post-op is complete *shrug*

I dont understand this part -- could you please let me know what these odds are?

    Worried

Totally agree! I've read so much about the complications in the band that I would rather battle obesity related complications instead of getting banded if sleeve is not available for me!

    Out Of Hospital

Tender coconut water and clear vegetable soup mostly. Lots and lots of water - or atleast it felt that way in the beginning - actually it was just approx. 30 oz

    I Had My Surgery But

I would give anything to make myself move away from the scale!! I'm soooo bad at this. I weigh every two or three days. But I was on a long stall this month and decided to weigh weekly. I'm afraid I cant keep away from the scale more than a week. And the worst part is, I'm not satisfied with the scales at home. My 'correct' weight - atleast in my mind - is the one shown on the scales at my doc's hospital. I go there weekly now just to weigh myself. It is on the way to office, so no biggie. *shrug*
  19. Well I think most of it is either head hunger or acid. At the beginning I thought I was hungry too. My doc told me to watch over three days to determine when I get hungry. I realized it was when my mom starts cooking or the family gets together to eat dinner or mostly when I watch TV ads on fast food. Then, I could see that I was not really hungry but just craving food. That too stopped over few weeks. I feel satisfied and dont feel overly hungry between meals.

    Crazy Nsv

LOVE this NSV!! I bet you feel on top of the world! Cant wait for my own NSVs!!
  21. Help me!!! I'm getting addicted to watermelons! I and my mom finished off half a fruit yesterday! I had atleast about 10-15 small pieces and had to literally leave the kitchen to avoid temptation! The watermelons season has started early here in India and I see so many roadside vendors everyday on my way to office and it is getting harder for me not to stop and have a bite! I really want to know what are the cons of eating watermelon now (I'm 3 months out - 10 weeks to be exact). I started having watermelon juice some weeks before and I posted asking if it was okay and was told that it would be healthier to eat the fruit instead of the juice. Something about the sugar? (I will check the previous post again) But is 1/4 fruit a day too much? It is hot as hell here and the watermelons look sooooo gooood

    I'm Addicted To Watermelons!

Awesome!!! You are doing a wonderful job! I dont eat rice/chapathi now. I take boiled spiced vegetables or fish/chicken (with curry) for lunch. I have a Protein shake and 2 egg whites (boiled or scrambled) in the morning and a Protein Shake at night. I snack on watermelons and other fresh fruits. Thats mostly it.
  23. On my first appt, the doctor explained lapband, gastric bypass and sleeve. Lapband was out of question for me because it almost will never work because South Indian food tends to be more mushy - so the band is not going to hold it for a long time. So my choice was either GB or VSG. Now, I made up my mind pretty quick that I was NOT going to get GB because of the whole malnutrition thing. I could not imagine taking meds my WHOLE LIFE due to malnutrition. Getting sleeved was the best decision I ever made. I regret that I had not done this a few years back. I'm 11 weeks out and feel so much better, lighter and energetic. After reading many stories here, I'm not really comfortable with Lapband either -- there seems to be a higher rate of complication in it. So GB or VSG would be a great choice. I hope everything works out fine for you. All the best!! :-)
  24. In college? Probably not, because I was not weighing so much during that time. I started to balloon out only after I joined my job and moved away to a new city. No home cooked food and had way too much money than I have ever had (not much of allowances for kids in India, lol). But I really regret that I havent had VSG done sooner. Like probably a couple of years before (maybe at 25). It would have given me so much of energy to enjoy my life. I have a great bunch of friends and I really regret having to say no to 3 out of 4 outings a month. And my younger sis -- she loves going out for shopping and will literally beg me to come with her. Again I refuse 3 out of 4 times coz I'm too lazy to dress up and leave home on a weekend. I'm really hoping that I get my energy back and have some quality time with friends and family every now and then.
