Not A Rude Waiter, But A Rude Patron.
andi0120 replied to minaleigh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People like that act like bullies but are truly cowards. It took me, awhile to stick up for myself. In a situation like that I would first acknowledge her by smiling and saying how are you. If the starting continued I would nicely say can I help you with something. She probably would avoid looking at you the remainder of the meal. Ugh people -
Last Appt With Surgeon Before My Date. Help Please.
andi0120 replied to Priscilla Johnson Wright's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had a ton of prescriptions for me to fill. I made sure to take a pen and paid to write down all instructions because there are a lot. Also if you are currently taking meds make sure to ask if you should stop those pre surgery. -

Emotional Roller Coaster Before Surgery. Is This Normal?
andi0120 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for 2/29 less then a week away and I find myself an emotional wreck! I can't sleep my nerves are going crazy. I'm excited but still nervous. I've done enough research that I'm aware of side effects and mishaps but honestly that not bothering. For every horror story I read there are 10 awesome ones. This morning I actually had a wave of sadness hit me that I may not be able to eat certain foods again. From that emotion came anger that I allowed my happiness to be become so dependent on something life food! Over the years the weight has definitely make my self esteem close to zero. Even on days when I thought I looked good the pictures after the fact were a reality check of what I truly looked like. I turned 40 in Jan. My boys are now teenagers who only need me for rides lol. I spent much of my 20's and all of my 30s being a single mom. So I felt like this would begin a new chapter of my life where I could start taking care of me a little more. Anyway just felt like venting. I love this site because it allows me to do so. Just confused why I have been hit with this sadness. Anyone else go through this???? -
Praying you get your date soon. My date is next week. Cant imagine going through the emotions to be told a new date.

Did Medications Help You?
andi0120 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for the information! I seem to be addicted to the site it's so awesome to be able to get information from people who have had the surgery. -
Hey everyone my surgery is scheduled for next wed 2/29. I've been reading a lot of post about newbies having a lot of nausea. I have a ton of prescription meds. To include ondansetron & promethazine to control nausea n one also controls vomiting. Zegerid to control acid. I have some pain meds and other stuff for my stomach to heal. Anyway just wondering if anyone else had access to these meds or similar ones and did they help???

I love your post. Sounds so much like my own experience. I didn't realize how eating was so much of my life until I started fearing not being able to eat after surgery. I to was taught to finish my plate. Food has always been a comforter to me. While I hate to admit feeling a sense of loss that I will no longer experience the comfort of one of my favorite foods when I need it I am super excited to gain my life back and finding new sources of enjoyment. Thanks for the post. Surgery is coming on Wednesday and I can't seem to get enough of this site.

Did Medications Help You?
andi0120 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have that med also but under another name Carafate. My doctor states it's like a coating for the tummy. My coworker recently had surgery and states that it helps a lot. -

Thanks Lissa. I actually start the acid meds the night before surgery. I was just curious. So many people struggling with nausea and I just spent a ton on prescriptions. I was hoping they worked a little, lol. Thanks again for answering. Can't wait to get this over with if my nerves don't kill me. Ugh so excited but super nervous. These next couple of days are going to be something. -

Welcome. I just discover this site also. My surgery is 2/29 in less then a week which explains why I'm up at 4:30. My nerves seem to be in overdrive these days!!! Good luck on your journey. I started around mid December. Could have probably gotten a date sooner but took my time making all my appointments. Your family may change their mind after sugery when they see how healthy and happy you are. I'm the fatty in my family also and find that skinny people who can eat all they want and never gain a pound can never understand my weight issues. -
How Long Were You Out Of Work
andi0120 replied to chyna86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for 2/29. My doc says most people need 4-6 weeks to recover but sometimes less depending on the job. Not sure how I'm going to feel and hopefully will gave a speedy recovery. At this point I an going to take off two weeks and do two weeks of 1/2 days. Also I just told my boss surgery for female issues. That tends to stop further questions. -

Low Bmi (36) With Diabetes? How Are You Post Op?
andi0120 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm scheduled for surgery on 2/29. My BMI is 36 (5'7 240). It was my severe diabetes that helped me get approved with my insurance. I've been a diabetic for approximately 5 years. Was put on insulin day one of being diagnosed. Problem is all of my diabetes medicine continues to make me gain weight. While I definitely need to LOSE WEIGHT I'm very hopeful that I see some significant changes with my diabetes after the surgery. I also don't want to end up weighing 95 pounds which my doctor assures me won't happen. Just wanted to see if anyone has a similiar story and how are you now? -
I Have Told Everyone I Know? Am I In The Minority?
andi0120 replied to sabrina140's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear the same thing your not really heavy enough. I generally answer that my diabetes and BMI says otherwise. I'm scheduled for surgery on 2/29. I honestly think the general public is just ignorant about weight loss surgery. You hear comments like that person only lost weight because of surgery. Many people aren't aware of everything that comes with surgery. Weight doesn't magically drop off it still requires eating well and exercise. Hopefully with time people will gain more knowledge on weight loss surgery and get rid of the judgemental comments. Just venting -
