What May Seem Like Dumb Questions Feel Free To Add On......
andi0120 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate calling my doctor to ask about every little question which is why I love, love, love this site. These may seem like silly questions but I'm wondering at what point we are allowed to drink with a straw?? I know when I left the hospital they told me to stay away from straws but is this a forever thing? I gave up my daily mountain dews but love to drink even Water with a straw. Also will there ever be a time when you can eat and drink at the same time. I had no clue how much discipline this would require as I've always ate and drank at the same time. I absent mindedly did it post sleeve and ended up spitting up water. Is this just for newly sleeved people or is this something I should prepare to do forever???? Sleeved 2/29 -

Going Back To Work.... Any Suggestions Or Advice From The Vets

Thanks so much everyone. I went out and purchased a lunch bag, some healthy snacks and some elastic waist skirts. I realized while out today that jeans still don't feel so great although they are baggy so I'll go with the elastic waist for awhile. The sleeve requires so much discipline. I love this site you learn so much. -
Yes yah to us. I feel so good about the future and do not regret this decision at all. Can't wait to see some major changes

I agree with previous post although I an newly sleeved 2/29. My body is quick to let me know when I have had to much and it doesn't feel good at all. I sometimes feel like my stomach is not as restrictive as it should be. My co worker was sleeved couple months ago and she had so many problems with food. I don't get nauseous at all and all my mushy food I'm good with. Now if I eat even a little to much it feels awful!!

Sleeved On Monday 3/19 And In So Much Pain! :(
andi0120 replied to bella143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was for me. Sleeved 2/29 there weeks out today and I feel great. The first week was the worst. I didn't most if the day sleeping. It strange how quickly your body comes around. I often described my first week as feeling like I had literally been in my dryer but it gets so much better. Call your doctor and ask for something stronger oh you can. -
So I've been scared to death for the past few days kind of holding it in scared to tell anyone. Ive been experiencing some shoulder discomfort for the past week which after much reading I've learned is the sign of a leak. I've been super paranoid and finally got the nerve to call my doctor yesterday. I kept hoping it would go away and it didn't. Well the doctor called me back yesterday but I missed the call. They called today and had me go straight to the hospital where they performed tests. One which involved an IV of iodine that made you feel extremely hot and has a funny sensation that makes you feel like you are peeing on yourself. Anyway my doctor called and said I am good. I almost cried in the office. He said I did the right thing by letting then know. I will be three weeks out tom. and feel great. Anyway just felt like sharing. I'm still not losing a, lot of weight but my protein and water intake gets better everyday and my daily walks are up to 4.5 miles so hopefully the weight will follow. Word to the wise if you aren't feeling good dont be like me and hope it goes away. I could just hear all my critics saying that's what she gets for using surgery to lose weight. People assume bariatric surgery is magic and you just get skinny they have no idea!

My doctor had me taking biotin but I'm newly sleeved so I'm but sure if it helps but it is supposed to. Good luck

andi0120 replied to Teresa Johnson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually need a nap around ten also. We will see how that works on thursday when I go back to work. I am getting more protein in with my foods thank goodness for greek yogurt and mozerrella sticks! -
Lol 3 weeks out and I love my SF pops. My neighborhood store ran out and I almost lost it. Doesn't help that my emotions are a total roller coaster!

Should say being nauseous after the surgery and they put something in my iv. My cell phone has a mind of its own

Hey guys I will be three weeks out on Wednesday. I just started soft foods and go to the bathroom maybe every other day. My doctor just made me start taking fiber so that may change. I can honestly say that I have been super lucky with the nausea and vomiting. My nurse told me to really stress about my fear of being nausea after the forget so they have me something before and to this day I have not been nauseous. I do have meds for it but really haven't needed it. I have throw up once but it was from drinking to soon after eating. It wasn't like vomiting from being sick it was literally the water coming back up. Hope this helps

3 Weeks Post-Op And A Stall Since Last Week
andi0120 replied to tamou37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/29 and I'm starting to think something is wrong? I've been trying to stay positive but the scale doesn't help. I've put my scale away because honestly it's depressing. In the past I would have handled this frustration with all of my favorite foods, after all what's the point of doing all this work and not losing. One great thing about the sleeve it's forced me to stop my old habits. Eating is something I have to do on a daily basis but not something I enjoy doing anymore. Hopefully we will be on the loser side some time soon. Hoping for some lower numbers when I hit my month????? I have been exercising and I've very proud of myself. I've been getting my protein in and logging all my calories. Yesterday I walked 4 miles and did little bits of jogging. With that said if I don't see some changes in a month I know something is wrong! Ugh so frustrating. -
Walked 4 miles yesterday with a tiny bit of jogging mixed in. Determined to be a jogger by the end of the summer

Vets What Was Your Favorite Mushy Food............
andi0120 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am officially two weeks post op today. I had my NUT visit today and was given a list of foods I can eat for the next four weeks. Of course the list has eggs, refried Beans, cheese, ect. I went to the store today and brought everything on the list. The funny thing is I feel very overwhelmed by food right now. The pre-surgery me never felt like that. But the new me is like ok what should I eat........ We went over portion sizes at my appt. and they recommend eating 1/4 cup of food at a time. I'm also worried about the list and hoping I will like some of the things that I never would have ate before like cottage cheese YUCK. Also they have ricotta cheese????? I know about ricotta on lasagna and in food but are you suppose to just scoop it out and eat it plain. Also with the refried beans do you just eat them plain? So VETS I need your help with this or else I'll be eating eggs for the next 4 weeks!!!
