I had all four of mine out in 2009. They weren't bothering me but the dentist suggested I do it early on. I actually went to the hospital to have it done and I was knocked out. Not quite sure of the cost because it was military doctors, but they assured me it would be expensive which was one of the reasons I did it while it was free. Sent from my iPhone using VST

March Sleevers..are You Happy W/your Progress?
teamthin replied to DDFinn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on March 15, 2012. Since surgery I lost 18lbs. I'm pleased this far. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Sooo I used to have muscles in my biceps because I did push-ups almost daily due to my old job. But now the front of my arms are kind of flabby with stretch marks. The backs of my arms are fine. I'm don't want to get muscles again. Should I start working my arms now or wait until later. I've heard high reps low weight works. Is this true? Or any tips or suggestions on how to tone my upper front arms (biceps area)? Sent from my iPhone using VST

So This Might Be Gross But...
teamthin replied to iHeartNettie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive been doing that since I was a toddler because I don't like the texture of the fruit. Especially if it's been peeled and has those little strings on it. I never thought of it to be a problem though because it only happened with oranges/tangerines and it wasn't something I ate regularly. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Something similar happened to me today. I had my shake for Breakfast and then I went to work. I got in my car around 4pm and realized I didn't have anything for lunch. And I barely drank anything. I rushed home and ate a sugar free Popsicle and a string cheese stick. :/ Sent from my iPhone using VST

Body Mass Index Too Vague, Researchers Say
teamthin replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I was in the army they had a formula for people who went over the numbers on the scale. It measured your neck, hips, stomach, and wrist. Then they could determine if you were overweight due to muscle or body fat... Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I'm glad to see there are slow losers out there. I haven't been sleeved long, but I know my loss will be slow. I see people moving big numbers here and I don't want to get discouraged. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I believe you lose quicker the more weight you have to lose. As for age I think it may benefit the skin. But I haven't been sleeved long and I don't have as much to lose so it feels like things are going very slow to me. I'm looking forward to hearing from others too.

That's a good question. My doctor told me to wait until 6 months out. But I know it's sooner. I live in Korea and rice is a daily staple. 3 times a day so I guess that's why he told me 6 months. I really love rice and I feel like I need it 3 times a day. lol

My Post Op Diet Seems Less Strict Than Most Others
teamthin replied to Squisha's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was allowed to eat regular food until midnight. I came to the hospital on the 14th and they were serving me regular meals. I had surgery on the 15th and then I went home on the 16th. I could eat puréed food if I wanted to. In the hospital they also served me puréed food (day after surgery) but I was just trying to focus on fluids. I also didn't have a preop diet. I had surgery at a Center of Excellence so I'm not worried. Also if you look up the Cornell Diet for VSG I think it's similar. -
How Do You Take Pills Post Op?
teamthin replied to NJsharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can "gulp" water just fine. It's not like I ran and drank a bottle of water. I drink enough to get the pill down. I'm one of those people who thinks they are gonna choke on everything..lol... I should also mention that I'm healing extremely well and was allowed soft foods the day after I left the hospital. But you will find out what works for you. I never had the gas pain everyone talks about. -
How Do You Take Pills Post Op?
teamthin replied to NJsharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take them the same way before. Gulp of fluid and then the pill. My doctor has me on one powdered medicine and some really small pills. I had to use a laxative the size of a m&m and I had No problem with it. -
Does someone know a good brand that I can order online? Like from Amazon. I live overseas so I can go to Walmart or any stores.

Looking awesome! You are so tiny now! -
I'm glad I came across this post. I'm only a week post op but I know I will be a slow loser because I'm starting at a lower rate than many. We just have to stay motivated and do the right things. I know it sucks to come on the board and see people posting about the large numbers they lost.

Carnie Wilson - 2Nd Wls - Gastric Bypass To Lapband? Huh?
teamthin replied to former_vbg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel sorry for her. You know we always think if I was rich I could have a personal trainer or hire a chef to cook healthy for me etc. But here she is, still struggling. Granted it was 12 years ago. I hope she finds the long term success she is looking for. But most likely it won't come from the lapband. -
Experiences After Immediately Waking Up? Comment Please..
teamthin replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'll be honest with you. I woke up and panicked and began screaming for help. I didn't get any pain medication until I was moved from the recovery room to my private room. I disturbed everyone who came into contact with me. I was like " why won't you help me. Please help me." lol...But come to realize it I really wasnt in pain. The most painful thing was a catheter that they gave me in surgery. A surprise one at that. I asked them to take it out and I got the go ahead to walk to and from the restroom. I was getting pain meds pumped through my IV and I didn't need to take any the next day when I was discharged. I felt great. When I've hard surgery two other times before and I woke up calm and sedated. I guess if your drugged you will be ok and maybe begging for a glass of Water. Lol -
I didn't wear any panties into surgery and I woke up with a catheter and I thought I wasn't getting one. Oh the horror! Lol

How Many Days Did You Take Off Work?
teamthin replied to DanityChai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday as an after school teacher. Everyone was so surprised how I could bend over and tie my shoes...lol My husband was trying to baby me but there is no need. I have to remind myself I had surgery a short time ago because I'm not in pain.
