  1. I go to the classes and I have the Kinect video game version. The classes are more fun and easier to follow plus, I'm pretty competitive and I want to be the one who is spot on with my moves, lol I never am but it's fun to try. The video game has lame music, the classes have great new music, lots of Pitbull, love that guy. There's accountability with the classes because the people get to know you and if you miss a week they'll say, hey, where have you been? The videos are good for learning the basic moves so you're not lost in a class.
  2. Same thing happened to me!! Cinnamon toast, didn't chew enough but had never had a stuck feeling. I did like you, paced around the house, stood near the bathroom in case of vomiting, thankfully I didn't. Cereal with milk hates me too, I think it's the solid/liquid combo. Basically Breakfast time is Protein shake time, I just have to live with it.

    Green Zone/sweet Spot

I feel ya. I had surgery in July and just this week after my 3rd fill can I feel the effects of it. I didn't gain up until now but it was a slow loss, not noticeable. I was bummed in bandster hell and now am trying to figure out what I can eat!
  4. I was pretty strong before surgery now I get winded just walking to the neighbor's house. I am so glad I found this conversation, I feel a little better, I'm eight days post op and still can do so little without getting exhausted.
  5. I'm borrowing the title of Jen Lancaster's book for my topic title, it's a great summer read btw. All my life I've heard, "Awww, you've got such a pretty face" at first it feels like a compliment, then, wait, no, not so much. So now that I'm banded as of July 5th, the people who told me, "Oh my God, don't do it, you don't need it, you've got such a pretty face." can stop with the nonsense. I tell them, pretty face, okay, but unhealthy body, heart, mind and this is me finally doing something for myself and getting a tool that is going to help me be... such a pretty woman. Well, shoot, let's blow "pretty" out of the water, I'm going for gorgeous, mmmm-kay??! People say, well you did so well on such and such diet and when you were exercising more, you should do that again. Wow. Thank you, friend, I'm not sure why I didn't think of that. Since my surgery, the NaySayers, the folks who discouraged me about the lapband, have asked how I'm feeling, since I haven't showered since yesterday morning, my hair is greasy and my eye make up is jacked, clearly I'm not back to 100%, I'm pretty sure they feel vindicated. See, we told you it was not good for you. I didn't have the energy to argue but the proof is in the sugar free pudding my friends, tomorrow I'll be feeling much better, a shower is in my future and some fake diva eyelashes. We'll see how quickly they change their minds and start to tell people, "oh my friend/neighbor/relative had lapband surgery done and she looks fantastic!"

    Leg Cramps!

Second night in a row I am up at 3-ish in the morning with leg cramps. This happened before when I was on the Atkins diet. Anyone else? Any tips? I take liquid vitamins and eat half a banana a day for extra potassium, I am certain I am not getting as much sodium that I need because I am craving salty food.

    Leg Cramps!

I just got home from the imaging center. On the way home my doctor called me and said there are no blood clots in my legs! Yay! She said to drink lots of water and take the prescription narcotic again before bed. Now I'm exhausted from just that little trip but later am going to get my pickle juice. Thanks all!!!!!!!

    Leg Cramps!

I mentioned my leg cramps to my nurse friend at my surgeon's office and now I'm off to the Imaging Center for an ultrasound. I guess post surgery leg cramps could be a sign of a blood clot. I'm sure it's not. I just need some Vlasic juice and agua. I'm on my way so will let ya'll know what they say later.

    Shoulder Pain

thank you all for this post, my surgery was the 5th too and I'm in agony with this shoulder. I've been walking, been chugging the water, sprayed it with bio-freeze and now I think I'm going to dip into the pain meds. I told my husband that I regretted having the surgery today because of this shoulder pain and the "reverse burps" when I drink which aggravate the shoulder Reverse burps are a bubble going down instead of up but I have like a hiccup at the same time-yowza. I know I truly don't regret it but ^%$@@$&()_^*#@ it hurts!

    Post Lap Band Diet

I have an eating question too because I have been soooo hungry on my liquid diet. Today I went to Panera and got Broccoli Cheddar soup, took it home and strained it and finally my hunger headache went away, its been keeping me up at night. So Carley K, you say that you won't be able to drink a whole Atkins shake, I can and do. I don't have any fluid in my band yet so as I understand it liquids would pass right through the pouch to the larger stomach area. I guess I'm asking to see what everyone else's hunger level is on the post op two week liquid diet. If I'm off the charts hungry then maybe my band slipped while I was sick after surgery. Just being paranoid.
  16. headacheheadacheheadache not sure if its a hungry headache or a caffeine headache but I don't know what to take! I'm damned. My headache pill of choice was Excedrin, then they recalled it. Then I switched to a cocktail of Aleve and caffeine and I'm pretty sure the PA told me not to take Aleve anymore like I'm seeing here in this post. Does regular tylenol work on headaches?

    Such A Pretty Fat....

We should, for fun, make up responses to that comment. 1.) (the mean response) Oh thank you, and just think how people will actually listen to you after a few breath mints. 2.) (the I'm going to try to make you feel bad response) Oh thank you, I actually thought I looked beautiful today as I am. (sniff sniff) 3.) (espanol) Lo siento, no habla ingles, jerk. any others come to mind? I mean, I would never say any of them, usually I just agree with them. lol wuss.

    Switching To Sleeve

Passive aggressive much, Amy? lol Tasha-girl, DO YOU. Do what is going to work for you and best of luck to all. Even Amy who is on her own journey as well. I liked the idea of the sleeve because it cuts out the part of your stomach that hides the dreaded HUNGER HORMONES... work it... own it..
  21. SWEET topic!!! My husband has brought it up several times how he thinks I'm going to lose weight, get a boob job (because YES, this is sooo in my future) and leave him for another dude. His concern has really made me think about it! My internal answer is...I don't know! That's just brutal honesty. I've always loved big guys, my husband is 6'5 290# but when I was not so big, my choice in men was not so big either. My preferences went from a baseball players to a football players as my weight increased. Here is what I know. I love my husband, we are not together by accident. God placed us together as part of His plan for me, for him for our daughter. Are there days when I think I deserve better? Yup. Are there days when I think HE deserves better? For sure. We'll just take it day by day like we always have (marriage is work whether your skinny or fat) and try to be better examples for our daughter. Now as for fantasies....can we go there in this forum? Probably not, well at least not mine. Let's just say mine involve BOTH the football player and the baseball player...mmmm-kay?

    Such A Pretty Fat....

Oh man, some great comments here!! "You are so pretty, just think how beautiful you would be if you lost weight' Heard that for 18 years from Dear Ol Dad. He thought he was helping. Daddy issues....Party of One? The fiddle player that compli-sulted you, DownHome??? omg Where do you even go with that? "Oh thanks anyway but even tho you play a mean fiddle, I only go for drummers." But Banded on 4/12 set it straight. You're right I guess, about it being the truth. Of course it's true, that's why we are on our way to gorgeous but FAR be it for strangers to comment on such a personal battle. Would we say to someone with a huge facial birthmark, 'wow, you are so pretty, if you could just get rid of that huge mark...' Heck no, well at least I hope people wouldn't say something like that. Banded 4/12, in no way shape or form did anyone's comments ever motivate me. Ever. But you're right, Banded, we are on a journey to perfection. And you made me laugh when you wrote "obesed" Made me think of a future blog title "Oh-Beast" coming soon.

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

July 5th here still recovering I waited 7 months so I know the feeling of anxiousness you are feeling! It's worth it.
  25. Hi ! I was banded the 5th, so you all who had it on the 3rd have two days or so on me but I needed to see your posts tonight. I was feeling so bad about not feeling good yet! So my surgery was Thursday and the nurses said by Monday (today) I'd be back up to par and ready to go to work. Well I work from home so that's not the issue but I'm far from par. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I stopped the pain meds Saturday night, just made me too drowsy. I had the shakes really bad today and had a gas bubble that took up residence in my chest making it hard to breath or swallow. I have had hives since Saturday, not sure what from. I haven't weighed myself yet but sure I'm down because my yoga pants are loose. I love my protein shakes on my liquid diet but that's really all I want to have, I hate jello, cream of wheat and sugar free popsicles and last time I had three protein shakes in one day, I think I got gout! I miss working out. Just feeling dumpy today.
