I have been basically stalled about 3 months. I still need to lose about 45-65 lbs. I have only lost about 5 lbs in 3 months. Can anyone help? Can you share a typical week diet and exercise?
-
Yes, I know how you feel. I have lost only 80 lbs, and often feel like I have really failed at this because I wanted to be 40 lbs lighter by now. I also have saggy skin. I'm in my 50's so the skin is not bouncing back at all. When do you think you will have skin removal, and what type of surgery are you looking into?

1 year update I have not logged in for a very long time. I had my 1 year check up about a week ago. My weight loss has been very slow. I have probably eaten more carbs than I should on occasion. My high weight was 280, my surgery weight was 255, my current weight is 182. I would still like to lose an additional 42 lbs. I eat around 900 - 1200 calories per day, keep my protein up around 80 grams, ride my bicycle 3 - 4 times per week around 10 miles each ride, walk around 40 minutes about 4 - 5 times per week. I also try to get in around 2 strength training sessions each week. I started wearing size 24 and now wear a size 12 - 16 (depending on the brand). Definately has some saggy skin. Has anyone had any kind of lift surgery? Have a great day - Kathy

That is good! I started at 263 and am down to 192.. Not where I had hoped to be but a big improvement. I would like to lose another 50 lbs. U an 5'5"

Yes, that is exactly where I am. My body is telling me I am not overweight, I am obese I get use to it, but I refuse!!! I know I will break that 200 mark and be in the overweight category yet. You will all hear a great big WooHoo when that happens. You might wonder what the noise and commotion is, so I'm warning you ahead of time!

Hope all the new slevers are doing well. I'm at about 2-3 weeks into a stall, and I have to say it is driving me crazy. It is like my body is saying - "No way are we going below 200!" I'm sure God is working on my patience level, but not sure I am passing with flying colors, lol. Hope all of you have a great week-end!

Good luck TParker and Saddie! It will be a new world.

Hi all. Have not posted for awhile. Been away from the computer, but thought I should check in and see how everyone is doing. I'm down 60 lbs, which is really close to the 1/2 way mark. Bought some size 16 jeans, which I knew would be too small, when I went by a Good will the other day so I would have jeans for later. Decided to try them on after I got home to see how much too small they were, and they fit perfect now! I'm in shock. This week-end shopping for something to wear to a wedding in the Middle of December. Thought if I tried on a dress I like, then buy it one size too small, that should fit by December. Any thoughts on this plan? Thanks, Kathy

When Did You Feel Yourself?
New_Hope replied to healthiermom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off work for two weeks. I was told not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for one or two weeks (can't remember which). The first week, I was very tired and wanted to sleep all the time. After the first week, I started feeling much better, more alert, and able to get things done. -
Several of us are slow losers, but as long as you are a loser, that is what counts. I also had a very slow metabalism, and I'm in my mid 50's so it is even slower. I only ate 1000 - 1500 calories per day prior to sleeve surgery and not much exercise. I'm trying to beef up my exercise, minimize my carbs, and pack on the protein, and the lbs are coming off. Slowly, but coming off. Maybe that will make maintenance better?

My nutritionist told me before surgery not to focus on calories. Try to start drinking shakes, and eat a high protein, low carb diet. Get use to cutting out the carbs, not the calories. See it that works.

I Propose We Start A Thread For June Sleevers That.....
New_Hope replied to blondeej's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel your pain. I got down to 210 two weeks ago, then shot up to 215. Was back down to 211 today. I have lost about 55 lbs so far. Hoping it starts going back down real soon. I thought I would be in onederland by now, lol. -
Same with me. What a shock to come home from the hospital and be up 10 lbs.! Left very quickly though. I know you will do great!

All of us lose at different rates. Two people at work have had the surgery, and it seems to be a competition to them. They make an issue that I haven't lost as fast as them. I'm doing what I'm suppose to do, so can only go with the loss I have. I have been fortunate in the hair loss department. I'm at 4 months and have just sen a slight increase in hair loss from normal. (Yeah!!) Going through my closet today, and by time I get finished getting rid of the things that are too large to think about wearing now, my closet will be basically empty! Going to try to wait a few more weeks before buying new clothes. Gained 5 lbs last week, but this week most of it is gone. I think most is water weight, because I quite taking my 1/2 diuretic about a week ago. In the long run I think this will be a good move. Now the only medication I am taking is my acid reflux pill. Hope to be off of it soon. Went on a 6 mile bike ride today, and didn't get winded. I would say overall, all is very good. LOL

How Are All The June Sleevers Doing Since Surgery?:
New_Hope replied to Addison's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
WTG Tom, you are doing great! Pam, looks like you are right on track! I am a little over 3 Months now. Lost around 50 lbs. Have about 70 - 80 lbs I would still like to lose. 60 lbs will put me at a healthy BMI weight (at the high end). Doing Zumba 3 days per week. Riding my bike one day per week. Strength training 2-3 times per week. Protein is a little low, at around 60 - 75. NUT wants it up to 90. Not sure on calories. Probably between 600 - 850. -
Hi all. Happy Monday! I am now down over 50 lbs WooHoo! All of my clothes are pretty much hanging on me. (Even the too small ones from the back of my closet). Going to have to break down and buy new clothes soon.

Hi all! Wow some new faces since I have been on. I had my 3 month followup visit with the doctor and exercise physiologist yesterday. I'm donw 41 lbs. I have lost more lean than I should have, so I have to add a second protein shake in each day & add in some resistance/strenght training. Other than that everything was good. I lost 1 inche off my neck, 1.5 off my bicep, .75 off my wrist, 1.5 off my chest, 2 off my right thigh, 10 off my hips, 5 off my waist, 1.5 off my right calf. They were happy with my cardio exercise. Hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry haven't been on lately. We boutha beach house, so have been there with no internet. Finally have it hooked up! I have my 3 month followup next wednesday. Hope the Dr is happy with my weight loss. I know it is not as high as many. I started Zumba classes a few weeks ago, but have been on vacation this week, so no Zumba. The food is staying down better at supper, but only eating 2-3 bites of protein. Then add a little fruit. I am at about the same calories as you Kat. It seems to run between 450 - 600 per day when I count my calories.
-
I had my surgery in Decatur, TX and was released the day after surgery. I only had a 3 hr. drive, but it was no problem. I slept most of the way home.
-
Right now I am getting in around 500-600 calories and my NUT says that is OK as long as I am getting my protein in. I drink a 30 g. premium protein drink for breakfast. I usually have about 1.5 oz. of lean meat for lunch with a little fruit or a soft veggie. Supper is the meal I usually have problems with, so sometimes I have another shake, or a little protein and fruit, and hope I can keep it down. I don't usually snack much between meals. If I have anything I have 3 or 4 nuts.

Checking In At The 2 Year Mark
New_Hope replied to Soup-a-Woman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations on your hard earned success story, and thanks for sharing. -
Yes they are basically a mashed bean usually with cheese melted on them. Kay, you are on solid foods now aren't you? My Nut just thought they might stay down easier than meats in the evening & they are filling.
-
sorry, no giving up allowed, lol. I talked to my NUT last night and he suggested trying some soft Proteins . . . A Protein shake made with milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, refried Beans. You might try some of those and see if they help.
-
Yes Kat, I work full time. I had my surgery June 5. I think about the same time you had yours. I have also considered drinking a second Protein Drink for dinner. I'm just afraid I'm going to get so sick of them that I won't be able to get them down either.
