How And When Did You...
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Queen In Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I talked to a college classmate who had RNY first, to ask questions regarding the experience. Then researched and had my first appointment. Weighed my options, oh...came here to this site, then I told. It made it easier for me. I figured, if I would not have the support of my family, I at least had two friends that would help me along. It's all working out. -
Dr. Cahill In Dyer, Indiana?

Whenever I use protein powder, I use Almond Milk or I will substitute Skim Milk. I'm pretty lactose intollerant. But these do not bother me. -

Hi Juny, Have you tried Atkins, Pure Protein, Designer Whey...any of these? I have tried them all. I usually drink an Atkins Advantage in the morning and the evening. The pure protein was great. Meijer has it on sale this week in the powder form. -

Hah. Yes, I am and will always be BUT in this case, it is by choice. School comes first. Then I will have time to concentrate on everything else. -

You are absolutely correct. It also says 1 week, but I was told he gives 2 weeks. I hope it is only 1 week of the pre-op diet. Let me get my book. I thought there was more to it...not really sure. Yeah, I'm only waiting because I'm in school. I finished my 6 mos. in June! -

My surgery won't take place until December. I was just going to follow the information that was given in the binder from the first visit. However, when I meet with Lori next month I will ask if I will get something else or just follow that. -

How And When Did You...
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Queen In Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Queen, I told my mom and my sister right away. Although I did with hesitation, they were supportive. One friend from work knows only because I wanted his reaction...exactly what I got was they 'Why'. There are 3 other friends who also know and are very supportive. To them, it's my decision and that is all! The reason my mom and sister know is because I need them to be here with me....LOL! Can I say that even though they both support my decision, I don't think they really care for me to go this route. I didn't have to give much of an explanantion except to my one co-worker. I am currently on Weight Watchers so if anyone else asks then that is what I am doing. I have been ridiculed enough in my lifetime for weight issues, but the choice to do something different, I will not stand for! I would say when comfortable, offer the reason if asked, weighing the tone of the conversation. If it comes to a point of being judgemental, drop it on them...with the that settles it tone! LOL -
Belly Binder
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Compression Garments is on of the forums you can search. There were quite a few others. Most of the repeated suggestions was Flexees, Maidenform, Spanx. It was also suggested to check Wal-Mart, TJMaxx, Ross, Kohl's (especially for clearance items w/ coupon in hand) and a few other stores. These moreso for the reduction in price. Happy Hunting! -

There is a forum on here that discusses this... Let me look for it and I will respond after. However, there were some suggestion for websites and I found a great one. The pieces are a bit pricey though. It is VedetteStore.com and another is Cupidintimates.com -

Cigna Approved Me!
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Pinky Green's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Cigna as well. They recently changed the policy in May from 6 to 3 months. Wouldn't you know I was finishing up month 6 in June! SMH. I was initially denied as well due to a missing medical clearance, but now I'm approved! Still have a way to go until surgery b/c of class and work schedule. -

Feeling Humiliated....
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Tia Noel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there a way you can talk to the Instructor/Professor and ask if you can have a different seat. I too have been in that situation. It was painful yet I only had to endure for a short stint. You have at least 3 months more. I hope you can get relief with this situation. -
I truly understand what you say. I was denied initially due to a missing medical clearance. Waited about 2 weeks from that and have just gotten an Approval today! The initial response came exactly within 7 days through Cigna.
