Evidenced Based Medicine?
Patienlywtng on my Curves commented on 3yearsleeve's blog entry in Wish I knew more before I got sleeved
I guess I'm not following. Is the surgery you chose not working? Then are you also saying the RNY is reversable? -
Newbie Intoduction And Question
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to moregoodtimes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just to clarify, you stated your BMI is 241? That is your current weight, I presume. To answer one question. Wherever you are when you start the process is what will be recorded. It is anticipated that some loss will occur and should not hinder the decision for the surgery. I started with one BMI, by surgery date that will definitey change because I'm already 16 pounds down from the initial consult. My hope is to be down at least 4 more if not more. My surgery is already set. -
Faith Matters! Or Faith Matters?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to LizTex2587's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Let me say this. I have been at fault in doing things and then asking permission from God. LOL, at that point there is no need. With this, I pretty much started the research and then asked. I made the decision but was still wavering. I'm like God, really is this for me. I was so nervous in the beginning...I still am. Now, I'm at peace with the decision. That is where I leave it. There are too many 'conversations' that can go way off tangent if not! You follow me. The purpose to get us to this place has to be setteling(sp), not in we are giving up, but have come to one of the better decisions regarding our health and the healthy goals we want to attain. I seek to be healthy in a smaller body, with a decreased number, better fitting clothing and the extra is I get to enjoy life. He want us to have Life and that more Abundantly. I was not living out His desired plan for me. So if, considering surgery to help me live it, then so be it. My Faith is that God will direct the hands of the Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Nurses and all other Hospital Staff that will look after my care, as he has with any other surgery I have had. My recovery after an ankle repair depended on me. I had to do the work...I thought I would never walk right again, I thought I would not wear heels again, I thought...I thought...I thought.. Isn't it the same with those who have had this surgery? Isnt' there a preconceived notion, but until the excercise is done and time has passed, that they have a whole new perspective. (I'm sorry, this is the tangent, I was trying not to take.) -
"wls Is Not What God Intended..."
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Susan 2.0's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My thoughts as to what you could say... Surgery is an option for me, just like every other option, Jenny Craig, WW, and any other program that was designed to assist those who struggle with weight issues. Of these choices, I chose what I thought would be best for me in the long run. If I choose to do something against God's Will, does he not still call me his child. I trust He will NOT leave me nor forsake me, even in this. I am at peace because I have prayed and he has answered. If He does not agree, He will make it plain for me. That's it. That's all....and that settles it! Now...aren't these the badest shoes you've ever seen!! -
Sleeved 10/2
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to chubbymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You thoughts are valid. The last time when you have an overabundance of energy will outweigh those initial thoughts of, 'why'! Take it one day at at time. Much success to you. -

Do You Think I Will Look Ok?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to spieldose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I understand your thought process. I have not been thin but was smaller than I am now and was fairly shapely...with a smaller waist and flat abdomen. My concern is that I will not even look like I did when I had the small waist. I know how I would like to look, so secretly I have been having those thoughts. I'm glad that I'm not the only one. -
What Can I Take For My Hair Loss?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Ready for the new Lay-Lay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Though I have not had my surgery yet, I just wanted to share something that I have used in the past. I have used Nioxxin products when my hair was thinning before. It helped a great deal to thicken and strengthen. My hair sheds all the time anyway, so I'm really going to have to be proactive in ensuring minimal loss. -
Hello Out There! *echo*
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Tia Noel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For me, it seems like I have not time until the date of surgery. I have so much to do and only a few days to get it done! It will sneak up on you and then guess what...anxiety from all the time that has lapsed. I have to get it together. So to all my December Sleeve Sisters and Brothers...let's get it! -
I'm Trying To Not Blow Up!
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to barbi1281's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it doesn't help now, but when Monday comes, ask the Dr.'s office to do a Peer to Peer review. Ask the coordinator about the "missing" paperwork and resubmit. I called Cigna a couple of times myself, so I know it can be frustrating. It will work out the best for you. -
Approved.... Yay! $$$....?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to MsShaunaMarie's topic in Insurance & Financing
Congrats...there was a forum on here that discussed financing. There is a company that specializes in medical loans. The name escapes me. -
Out Of Pocket Max....
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to littlemiss0428's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Cigna as well. I was concerned with the Out of Pocket costs upfront, but the office told me that I would have to take care of that after surgery. I do know that hospital is $350 for in-patient stay up front. So I will work on getting them that beforehand. Please keep us posted. I am now thinking to call my insurance again, just to be certain. -
Loving Torani Sugar-Free Syrups!
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to pretty-pink's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was able to find some...had to really track them down in my area. However, Da Vinci brand has sugar free items just like the Torani. I have used the French vanilla in my greek yogurt. I also found Torani at World Market if you have one in your area. -

My Personal Countdown --- 90 Days And Counting...
Patienlywtng on my Curves posted a blog entry in PatientlyWtng's Blog
I know it may be a bit premature to start my countdown, but why not. These 3 months, 12 weeks, 90 days...etc., will be here before I know it. With my schedule, it will sneak up on me and I will be frantic trying to get everything accoplished within the last few days. My name is PatienlyWtng. I am going to excercise every bit of patience that I can. I have been purchasing what I think I need a little bit at a time. I'm now preparing for two out of town guests who will spend a week with me. Once I have all those plans squared away, I can return the focus on me. Oh and let's not forget, I still have work and school to factor in. So if starting a countdown will help me stay on track...then that is what I will do. Besides, this will be a permanent record of how sane I remained in all of this. I'm ready....for this ride to ExceLlynTLiving! Join me... -

Cigna- Nightmare
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Pumpkinmeli's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have Cigna. There was a glich initially but then the approval was rather quick. I agree that it depends on the type of plan but 30 days seems a bit too long. Besides my Surgeon's office would call as well. I didn't start calling until we were trying to get a flight for my mom to be here. So call Sandsmom
