Slow Down, You Move Too Fast!
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to cmaloney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Imgonnaloseit, Those are great suggestions. My Surgeon's office suggested I start this process as my first visit. That was in January. Why am I two months away from surgery and believe I should really put this into practice. Don't get me wrong, I did for a could of weeks but then...that went by the way side. -
Congratulations. There is nothing like being on the road to recovery.

It All Fell Apart Today... Surgeon Left Practice!
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to StrongMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. I am sorry to hear this...so close and things change. I like to believe things happen for a reason, yet I know this statement most time is no immediate consolation. Are you able to check with the new surgeon's office as well to see if he could bill you under your network, since the hospital is in network? Or agree to accept payment as an in-network patient? I don't know and may be grasping at straws? But nothing beats a failure but a try. Keep your head up StrongMommy -

I Just Chickened Out
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Nicci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nicci I would like to chime in... I started researching, went to OH, then found this site. I became so overwhelmed by negative posts and even the ones that will have you thinking twice about surgery, I left for awhile. It was time to step back and think about my decision without all of the outside influences. When something is before you constantly, one can't help to be affected by it. If someone's experience is not the best and you believe that this particular procedure may not be the best option, there are at least 2 others that may suit you better, right? If the end result is losing weight, being healthy and looking fly (lol), AND surgical intervention is the choice to get it done, don't stop...refocus and get back to it. You have done that, but if it becomes too much, step back and focus on you and how your life will become whether by surgical intervention or conventional methods. You will be a healthier you, living life as you should. -
Roadblocks With Indiana Medicaid
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Ciara_Reese2's topic in Insurance & Financing
Ciara, yes thank you. I do agree with Bittahoney, it probably would now be considered Pre-existing. Did you speak with someone in Hoosier Healthwise or EDS? EDS would be able to tell you exactly what Medicaid covers. -

I have seen a recommendation to add a packet of Crystal Light to the Isopure to make it tolerable. My choice of Iso, just wasn't good. -
Roadblocks With Indiana Medicaid
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Ciara_Reese2's topic in Insurance & Financing
I used to work for the State. You are able to have additional insurance, but that insurance will be Primary and whatever is not covered Medicaid will pick up...so it would become your Secondary Insurance. Honestly, you kind of lost me right at the part about speaking with someone from BCBS. Can you clarify? 1) Ok...your options. If not approved for VSG...there is still RNY and Lap Band, correct? They all will net the same results. When I initially looked into surgery, I looked at Lap Band, but I'm older now. I figured that would not do for me anymore. 2) Speak with your doctor's office again. Ask if in their practice if there were others who were approved using medicaid. They would only be able to give a yes or no answer, I'm sure due to HIPPA Laws. Don't make a decision out of desperation. You will find the answers you need. Much success to you and your husband.
