Tagine- The Most Perfect Meal For Gastric Sleevers!
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to chef neil's topic in Soft (stage 3)
HI, Since I am only cooking for me, how much will I have left over? Or would this not be the ideal way to cook for an individual? -

Should I Wait The Six Months Or Get A Loan And Go To Mexico?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Kiki, I like you will more than likely have a date around August. My question to you is...where are you head wise? I don't like to wait much for anything, but with this I'm anxious but willing to go the 6 months to search inside and 'practice' this lifestyle change. I've seen a nutritionist before...so I'm certain I know how that will go. I am not liking the extra costs associated...but that is my insurance company! I'm not keen on going out of the country to have the surgery done BUT, I'm all for supporting others if that is their desire. I want my mom here when I have my surgery and I want to not use more than one week of vacation, outside of my sick time. So...planning for that as well. I hope you get the answers you seek. -
What About These Blood Thinners?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad to hear all is well now Amanda. I don't know if you still need items, but a website was given for Vitamins in the mtg on Tues. One of the attendees indicated low costs on the items needed. As I'm here really early on, I'm not sure exactly what is needed. Try it and see if it will help you or anyone for that matter. www.allstarhealth.com -
I asked about Juicing in Support group on Tuesday. The response I received was a big fat negative. So much for my Jack Lalane sitting on the counter. However, I plan to ask againg. I used to juice my fruits mostly in the morning and my veggies in the evening. The really were not that bad. Word of warning....do not juice an entire beet! Delicious but ummmm....

What About These Blood Thinners?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given a binder with the required meds needed after surgery. It was also stressed at the Support Grp meeting that these would be needed without question when I am home after the surgery. I have just gone on the website to check the cost of the Lovenox. A huge difference between mail order, generic and brand. I'm glad that this was brought up because this would not have been a question I would have asked being that it is on the 'required' list! BTW, I have had a plate and 12 screws place for my ankle when it was broken and was placed on Plavix. Why can't that be an option as well. Just saying... Thanks for bringing up the question. That is why I love this site. It's important to be informed. I know I'm already nervous about this life changing decision. I don't want to have to deal with the little things the closer I am to getting it done. -

Formally Introduced
Patienlywtng on my Curves posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I have been searching around, making comments here and there, posts, etc., but never formally came to say 'Hello'. I am here because I have seriously considered WLS. With determination I am set to research all I can! I love this site. Since being here I have learned a great deal and have become obsessed with finding out as much as I can during the Pre-Op hurdles. I keep reading that the participants here are helpful...but I still have some unanswered questions...LOL! I went to the Bariatric Support Meeting tonight in my area and I'm glad I did. I've had my initial consult. Will see the medical doctor and the nutrionist in 3 weeks and month 1 will be underway! I hope to gain more from all who have come or will come and share their experiences. So with that said...I am formally introducing you to someone who will become a 'former' ________________. There is a woman inside waiting to emerge and embrace Excellent Living! ~Lyn T. -

In Pre-Op Phase For Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to ReeseMae's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have to do the six month program. I don't mind in that I need to get things together and have time enough for my mom to make arrangements to come stay with me for at least a week. I had my initial consult with the Surgeon and and I will see the Medical Dr. and Nutritionist on 2.27. That appointment marks my 1st month. I will be believing God with you. I could not do this without relying on Him. My mind has turned 180 degrees regarding WLS. I still have an uneasiness because it is major surgery, but I'm still determined! -
Biotin- How soon post-op?
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to Ellie4me's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have used Nioxin for years. So I think starting now would not hurt at all. Even when my hair wasn't shedding I continued to use it and it performed wonders for me. I was thinking of purchasing their vitamins as well. -
In Pre-Op Phase For Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy
Patienlywtng on my Curves replied to ReeseMae's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, You write with a positive attitude...which is a great thing. I am excited as well, but I have months to go before even the end of the phase. A fellow Alumnus received her RNY through OSU Medical Program. That was several years ago and she has spoken with me and encouraged me as well. Much success to you and keep us updated. ~Lyn T. -
