  2. My doc was the same way...lose as much as u can. I also craved pizza. I took half a sandwich round, pizza sauce, low fat cheese, and turkey sausage crumbles and made a pizza! It's not Pizza Hut but at about 175 calories--it was delicious!!!!! Good luck next week!

    Protein Shakes Making Me Sick

I had a really hard time also (2 weeks out from surgery) and still can't get the ones down that I loved before surgery! But a friend suggested the New Whey protein " shots" u can get at Wal-Mart. They come in grape, watermelon, and acai berry. 42 grams of protein in 3 ounces and cost about $2.50 per tube. They sure have saved me!!!

How Long Were You In The Hospital?

I was in for 48 hours, because of all the swelling that occurs. It makes it really hard to get all the fluids in. Of course I felt ready after the first day--thanks to the wonderful drugs fir pain and swelling! But once I got home it was pretty tough for a few days! Wasn't able to get the required fluids in until about 4 days post-op! Now I'm a week out and feel great! My surgeon lives by the 60/60/60 rule!! 60 ounces of clears/ 60 grams protein and 60 minutes of walking per day---no trouble getting that in!!!
  6. I'm 4 days out and can't keep anything down. I feel so weak and drained!!! I sure hope it gets easier!!!!! I did make decaf tea with splenda and am sipping on that! Sure hope it stays down. Good luck!!!

    Surgery Date 3/15/12

I am being sleeved on 3/21/12 and am having a little bit of a hard time also. I am not in a liquid diet but only one meal per day. And the preference is lean meat and veggies....but I dont care for too many veggies. My surgeon's requirement is just to loose a few pounds before surgery. I'm really nervous but I CAN DO THIS!!!! Good luck on ur surgery!!!
  13. I start my two week pre-op diet today--don't know how I am going to handle this!!! I will be replacing 2 meals with shakes and one meal of lean meat and green vegetables---being how I DONT like any vegetables--I think I may starve!!!!! I may be one unpleasant person to be around for the next 2 weeks!!!!!!

    Time Off Work

I have been thinking about this also, being a nurse on a surgical floor with some lifting ( and I'm a little over 40 and about 120 lbs to loose), My manager took me off schedule for 3 and half weeks( that way I am off Easter week with my kids)! I just hope the surgeon will agree with this---being how I work with him on a daily basis, I am hopeful!!

    Protein Shakes

Right now I am 2 weeks from surgery happening and my doc wants me to drink 2 shakes a day and one reasonable meal. After surgery I will be on the 60/60/60 routine....60 ounces of sugar-free clear liquid, 60 grams of protein and 60 minutes of wAlking a day.

    Protein Shakes

I have struggled with trying to find a shake that I liked also. But a friend of mine suggested I try the Lean Shakes ( GNC store brand). They are great!!! Not thick like a lot if the pre-made ones!! I even put them in freezer to get them "slushy". They ALMOST taste like a Frosty from Wendy's!!!! Delicious!!!!! Good luck...
  17. I kno you are excited!!!! We will be " sleeved" on the same day!!!!
  18. Can't believe that in about 3 weeks I can begin my weight loss journey as a "Sleeved" person! I have already lost 10 lbs so far. I can't believe how fast this process worked for me---started making all my pre-op appointments on Jan 18 and will be sleeved in March 21!!! I am so excited about this journey and these next 3 weeks cannot go by fast enough!!!

    Finally! Countdown Has Begun!

Yes it was very short...didn't have to " physician shop" as I have contemplated surgery for years after I became a nurse on a bariatric unit. Was surprised at how fast insurance approval was--but then again I do have a BMI of 43.5 so I guess for them it was a win/win situation in the long run! Thanks for the support!!
  20. I also just received my surgery date!!! I'm so excited but scared a little too! I have already lost 10lbs just cutting out sodas( which was horrible) and sweets. I will begin my pre-op diet on Monday---2 shakes (GNC Lean shakes are delicious by the way) and a sensible low fat/low calorie meal per day! Can't wait for 3/21/12!!!!!!
  21. I am in the process of a getting insurance approval for a sleeve. I just wanted to see if any other docs out there are banding sleeves? I trust my doc 100%, as I work directly with him and his patients in the post operative period while hospitalized. I myself am a RN certified in Bariatrics and have heard mixed feelings on having the small band placed for extra protection down the road....any comments would be greatly appreciated.

My Doc Wants To Band Me......

He states that it just gives added protection from you being able to stretch it out in the long run....its not the same type of a band that gastric bandings get. Its just a small band that he places half way down the sleeved portion
