Whats Your Diet 4 Months Out?

I had no food complications during my VSG and I'm just over 4 months out. I can eat anything (just less of it of course). I do low carb so my diet is lean meats and cheese

    Sleeve Or Bypass

Hmm we never had a set number of weight loss. Its going to be different for each person. I'm pretty sure the sleeve number is 70-80% loss of your excess weight within 3 years.

    Sleeve Or Bypass

I was at 390 and the sleeve is working just fine. Sleeved Jan 2012 and I'm already down 100 pounds..and still cruising with diet and exercise

    75% Of My Stomach Gone!

Its not too less if you need a 100% method of portion control that apparently I needed...Its amazing at how you view food portions pre vsg vs post

    Protien Absorbition

Digestive tract. Stomach only breaks down the food. Also the body on average can only absorb only 25 grams of protein at a time..
  6. I was told it does tone a bit on its own over time. Your gym routine will help the process of keeping it toned up. If it wasn't for my gym workouts and my trainer I'd have an issue with skin just for loosing so much in just 4 months. Keep at it and you'll be fine

Are We All Doing This Too Soon?

My response was in response to your question about there being no long term results for the VSG.

Are We All Doing This Too Soon?

Always remember the Sleeve is only a TOOL. The long term success with any weightloss surgery is up to the person and their habits and lifestyle.

Are We All Doing This Too Soon?

The sleeve has actually been around a LONG TIME...in the 80s it was commonly known as stomach stapling. Today the procedure is far less invasive since its laproscopic...plus its logically less intrusive than having your guys re-routed But with any weightloss surgery, its not for everyone if they have doubts.

    Costs Of Labs For Self-Pay?

Yea, your health insurance will pick up the normal portion of this
  12. On the iphone app store, search for "Restaurant Nutrition" it comes up as the first app.....has a pic of a knive, fork, and spoon. Its very handy
  13. believe it or not but mayo is good for baratric patients. I was told to incorporate just a little bit cause its high in Vitamin K
  14. its ok to buy foods from fast food places..NOW the healthy items are the ones to buy. There is an iphone app that I have that shows all major US restaurants, their menu, then the nutrition facts of each item. You can never go wrong with anything grilled chicken related (no buns) and an unsweet tea (especially if you're doing no carb like me). I do it all the time. Wendy's chili and KFC grilled chicken are high protein packed fast food items

    Laxative Question

    Phillips MoM works just fine....
  16. I didn't buy anything that required special purchases. Vitamins, protein shakes, and soups etc...all at walmart
  17. On the go snacks: nuts, beef jerky, pork skins. All high protein and low/no carb
  18. For the guys out there (and gals) that were worried about if they could ever eat a normal portion of a food or drink after their sleeve, for my experience its yes. I'm four weeks out from surgery and never had any food or drink issues. Today I downed a whole 11 oz Protein shake with ease with no bad feeling afterward. Also I'm having normal portions of things like roast beef and fish. Mind you I've now been trained to eat slower and I'm paying attention to properly chewing things. Maybe its were I'm still eating softer foods...but I'm moving more toward my protein goals from foods from shots and shakes...which is great. The atkins bars make for a great high protein snack and greek vanilla yogurt. My diet for this week will consist of deli turkey breast dipped in spicy mustard maybe wrapped in 2% milk cheese, denty moore beef stew, campbells chunky Soups, frozen fish and salmon, canned chili. My sleeve absolutely loves WHEAT THINS...has for over a week now. I guess its where it chews up into a nice mush. For the folks who loved meat before, the post op diet is going to fill right back into track.... thought I'd share that! Worm

Why My Size Is The Same

you won't lose inches until you body adjusts. You're still just 3 weeks out and you're about to hit probably your first stall. I had a stall at week 3 or 4 and lost two pant sizes in two weeks but no pounds. Its coming so don't worry

    Mushrooms

well mushrooms aren't bad for you in general but they don't hold much of a nutritional punch. And don't cook them in butter which is bad for the diet.

Carb Or Low Carb...that Is The Question?

If I do have a carb its a non sugar carb (wheat thins). I still don't eat bread cause in my mind I know its just taking up space that Protein should be in. My Post Op manual they gave me said to keep the carb servings to less than 20 grams per serving. I'm prob keeping it below 50 grams or less per day...and thats only from the wheat thins (the non sugar carb). Totally addicting and the sleeve loves them..and comes in dif flavors
  24. maybe add some greek yogurt to the blender? (like an ice cream replacement if you were making a milkshake)?
