    My 1St Nsv!

THANK YOU ..I didn't know what an NSV was and had been wondering for weeks!! Anyways..that happened to me also. I tried on a size 40 waist pair of jeans today!! I hadn't been a 40 since GRADE SCHOOL...went from a size 46 to a 40 in 4 weeks isn't too shabby!
  3. Mudder was the case that they gave me...
  4. -40% of all banded people cheat and move over to the sleeve. - My brother had the band and cheated on it - I didn't want to have a piece of plastic in me forever - You have to keep going for adjustments - and as a self pay person the sleeve cost me the same as a band but has 20% more weight loss in a year than a band..
  5. just truck on through brother...after 24 hrs the game is on
  6. Same here..I've hit the 3 or 4 week stall. Dropped 40 pounds in 2 and half weeks...now dropped like 4 in a week. I figured it was just the body adjusting back from the shock of surgery. I'm still watching what I eat and doing healthy choices so I figured I'm doing my part. COME ON SLEEVE GET BACK AT IT
  7. for side protein I use Greek Vanilla yogurt (15 grams of protein tastes great goes down smooth) and for others I use the Atkins bars. I try to find the ones with lower calories but with higher protein. I just had a peanut butter bar one that had 19 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar...but has 220 cals...based on what I've ate for the day I was able to fit it in.
  8. I too use the pure protein brand of pre-made drinks in a can. Walmart has the Choc and Vanilla kind..or you can order different flavors online

    Wastefulness

This was my biggest thing to overcome and realizing that showed how much I was really over eating just to not waste anything. Its just something I've come to expect now...at least we have plenty of leftovers!
  10. They tatste great but TOO much sugar. I stopped buying them after that. Look for shakes like Ensure that have 5 grams of sugar or less.

    Giving Blood?

Odd that you mention getting light headed when getting out of a chair. This happens to me also BUT only in my living room recliner after I've been sitting for a bit..What would be the cause of that? It never happened prior to surgery

  15. Hey Sleevees, Noob here, this is my second post. I am two days post op and though I'd post my experience for those who are about to go through the VGS. Standard stuff: Arrived at hospital 2 hrs prior to surgery to prep. Prep consisted of the standard things (IV, blood pressure checks, sugar checks) Wear lose clothes. I had to be naked in a gown for the proceedure. Also, remember not to wear contact lenses. They put leg compression socks around my legs. Don't worry about the leg compression machine. It actually feels good as it massages the legs to prevent clots. Next they wheeled me into the OR slap a gas mask on me and then next think I know it I'm waking up in recovery room. Now when first waking up you're in a complete daze. I was very nauseated but I never got to the point of puking. I sat in recovery for 3 hrs waiting for a hospital room to open up then they wheeled me in there. Once in the room they are pumping you full of meds and fluids through IV. I had a JP drain in place and an On-Q pain pump. Never was in unbearable pain, just general discomfort. By day two I had felt much better and started walking around the hospital floor while carting around my IV. I mainly did it because I was bored. I was in the hospital one full day and was discharged on day two since I was able to drink and eat Clear liquids with no complications. Drinking/JP Drain/On-q pain pump: For me drinking creates gas and thats the annoying pains that come and go. I take gas-x at home and they gave me a script for it. Now for the most horrific image thats going to remain in my memory for a long while....the removal of the JP drain. I was looking down and watched the whole thing being removed...DO NOT DO THIS. The drain has a stem inside of you a good 4 inches deep and when they pull that it out it will take your breath away...but it does go quickly. As for the On-Q pain pump, they sent me home with it still in my stomach which I took out this morning. Removing the On-Q is cake...two small tubes about 6-8 inches deep in your chest, you just keep pulling them out and then you throw the pump away...no pain involved. THEN YOU GET TO SHOWER...horray. My prep didn't allow me to shower the day of surgery due to the bacterial wipes I was given to put on the tummy. Things I'm experiening today: Today has been not really bad, especially after I showered. I felt so much better. Breakfast fo rme was a 3 oz Protein shot, lunch was Vitamins and a nap and I"ve been drinking regular Water and now I have a Propel peach flavored water beside me. Remember on your new Vitamin regiment, the vitamins need to be gel caps, liquids, chewable, or smaller than the size of an M & M candy, my doc said. Make sure you're bought these and your two week post op foods BEFORE surgery. You're really not going to feel like going to a grocery store (or I wouldn't have) after surgery. A neat trick on food I picked up from my brother who had the band is to use regular campbells chicken noodle Soup BUT drain out just the broth. This broth is 100 times better tasting than the broth you buy in a can or box. So, the main things I'm dealing with today are gas pains and some minor pains on the incisions which is getting better more and more. My Story. B
  16. Yea Im two weeks post op but only getting around 300 cals in a day...no worries though I don't feel it. Living on vitamins and the energy from the "B" vitamins keep me charged up. Living on reserves and vitamins has helpped me lose over 30 pounds in two weeks. Good luck with those isopure drinks..I HATE THEM...I moved over to the Gatorade recovery's which have protein in them and taste much better!
  17. Yea you should go back into the doc. There is a protective glue thats suppose to be over the wounds. The glue on me lasted two weeks before it started pealing and then when I took them off last night my sites were FULLY healed. Don't be afraid on this, its a small thing but you don't want to get an infection from non action...

    Someone Explain This To Me..

Don't fear the "JP Drain" if its used on you during your sleeve surgery. You don't even know its there and its easily pulled out before they discharge you. On the list of worries of the surgery, the JP drain should be down at the bottom. I had one, no big deal...

Question For People Who Not Insured Through Their Job.

You're not going to find specific health insurance rates online without calling into a company and giving your medical history/selecting your options first. I recommend finding one of the bigger carriers in your state, usually an Anthem or Humana because they have the biggest network of doctors. Most individual plans DO NOT COVER Sleeve surgeries. The plans that do cover it are usualy on large group plans offered through an employer. Hope that helps I'm an insurance agent...
  24. I've been told the body can only absorb roughly 25 g of protein at a time so you may want to streatch those drinks out
