Why Is My Fat So Soft?
JDHenin replied to Iwantitgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's do funny. My calves used to feel rock hard. Not like they were muscular. Now they are jiggly and loose. But in a good way. -
How Often Do You Have A Bm?
JDHenin replied to KeepingMySoul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find since eating solids I've been more constipated. I certainly would like to go more often. Used to be a twice a day pooper! Now it's a chore to try to go. :/ -

My husband and were both sleeved in April. I had no health issues. My husband has diabetes, HBP, high everything! Well.... He went for his bloodwork last Saturday. His doctor called him around 6pm personally to tell him that all his numbers were PERFECT!!' he said they were better than his own!! Doc took him off of two meds now, and after three months another round of bloodwork to see what else he can come off of. We're so thrilled for this. LOVE OUR SLEEVES!!!!!!

Who Here Can Eat Rice Comfortably? Anyone?
JDHenin replied to VACookey's topic in Food and Nutrition
I love sushi. I am 3 months post and I can handle it fine. I eat it very seldom because I'm trying to stay away from the carbs as mich as possible. But when I need my sushi fix I go and get it! I can eat like 4 pcs of a roll in one meal. -
I asked my surgeon WHY I can't drink from a straw. He says it not that you can't. It's if u can. Some people can't tolerate it. Gives them more gas. Told him I have no issues and can take in more fluid using a straw. He said then use a straw. Lol.

Be careful what you wish for!!!! I've lost 100 pounds and my boobs look like someone took a pin and popped them!!!!! Lolol. They were the first to go for me. -
Yep. I'm gonna do it! I'm overcoming one of my biggest insecurities. Going to the beach/public pool! I went to the pool with my husband and daughter today. I sat in the shade while they had fun in the pool. I looked around at the people there (specifically the women ) and low and behold most looked just like me! They weren't ashamed. I got home and went out and got me a really pretty bathing suit with an attached skirt to hide the big ole butt. So tomorrow I promised my lil girl that MOMMY not daddy, will take her to the pool and I will go in with her!!! She was super thrilled. I'm finally starting to enjoy things and not sitting on the sidelines. Well... Tomorrow I'll start. Lol. Love this freakin sleeve.

Starting At Over 300?
JDHenin replied to beachlover1129's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally agree with Lissa. Ive always worn shirts that were long to cover my belly and butt. They really do make u look even bigger. I've started to wearing shirts a little shorter and more people comment on my weight loss. Because its more noticeable with clothes that arent so baggy -
The sleeve was cake compared to my c section!!!! I was in sooooo much pain from my section. I was staple shut it was miserable. My sleeve was quite bearable.

Anyone With Barretts Esophagus? Help!
JDHenin replied to justme360's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My first endoscopy the Gastro doc said I had Barrett's. He then made me go for an endoscopic ultrasound to confirm. I ended up going to a diff Gastro doc because the first ones office didnt do them in their office. I had to travel miles away. So the second doc said I didn't have it when they did the ultrasound. My surgeon got the first report and saw Barrett's and said he COULD not do the sleeve and explained all the problems I would /could face. I was so bummed cuz I didn't want rny. The second Gastro said that it's very important that they are biopsying the correct area. Sometimes they test too high. It took a lot of convincing from him to my surgeon that I didn't have it, and that it was ok to proceed with sleeve. They told me that if I did indeed have it, then the sleeve would most likely make any acid reflux problem much worse after the surgery. I can't tell u what to do. But if I did indeed have this condition then I would opt for RNY, even tho I didn't want it at all. I don't think it's worth the risk. -

Make Me Feel Better!
JDHenin replied to mrsflyboybs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My personal opinion? These NUTS have no idea what they are talking about. The paperwork I was given by doctor compared to the paperwork given by the NUT varied in so many ways. I listen to my doc. His makes more sense to me and so far it's working. -

Want Honest Immediate Post Surgery Opinions
JDHenin replied to ShannonK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can honestly say I felt great post surgery. The day of surgery I was exhausted. So sleepy. The second day was much more awake and ready and able to start fluids. Hospital stay was 2 days. The day I came home I felt great. Nobody even could tell I had surgery. But i took it easy. I didn't want to be like oh I feel great lets clean the whole house. No. I took advantage of my week and half off work and rested. But I felt great. Everyone helps differently. Don't take the feeling good too far. U NEED TO REST. Or else it will catch up to you. My opinion. Good luck !!! -
No you shouldn't feel guilty. I tell people when or if they ask how I did it. I lost 70 lbs prior to my surgery. So when people ask, I usually say that I dd have surgery but that I did lose a lot on my own. Not that I'm ashamed, because I am not. But we shouldn't feel obligated to tell anyone. I will not lie though. If they ask I will tell.

That's s great nsv!! So looking forward to this happening to me

I'm 2 months post op, and down 102lbs total since I started my weight loss journey (last August). Yesterday, I got contact lenses. I've been wearing glasses for 20 years. Of course I dolled myself up extra today, more eye make up, my hair all sexy. I can't tell you how many compliments I got today at work saying how beautiful I am, how great I look, and a few people said I have a new confidence about myself, that i seem much happier lately. It's so true. I can't wait to get up on the mornings and do my hair and makeup all nice. I used to just throw it back in a ponytail. Bit I always wore makeup. Those comments from people are the most motivation I could ever receive!!!!! Keep on keeping' on..........
