Dr. Kelly is AWESOME! I am a year post op and am SO glad I decided to have this procedure done by him! I am an ICU, MSN RN....AND I HIGHLY recommend him!

I had no issues flying 4 days after my surgery on a 4.5 hour flight. Just make sure you get up hourly to walk to prevent blood clots.

Stalls CAN and DO last for weeks! I hit a. 3 week stalk after just thee weeks. I am 8 weeks out, ( sleeved April 22) and didn't lose anything from week 4 through week 6. Hang in there....your body is just trying to adjust to this radical change!!

I have an issue that I haven't seen discussed and I am desperate for help. I was sleeved on 4/ 22. Post op has been fine, no pain, incisions are almost all healed. The issue I am having, and have been having over the last 4-5 days is this. I am taking small sips of liquid.... water, rtd protein shakes, crystal light, and zero vitamin water. I take a small SIP, I burp, and then reguritate it back up. I am feling constantly FULL. Its like nothing is leaving my sleeve. I have to have a cup with me constantly to spit this stuff into ( I am sorry about the picture I'm describing...but its the truth!) I am terrified I am going to become dehydrated. It is not vomiting...its the burping and regurgitating. I am not keeping anything in. This cannot possibly be normal. I have emailed my surgeon ( I was sleeved in Mexico). I also have an appointment with my PCP on Friday am. Can anyone give me any insight? I am over this! Thanks for any input you can give me!

Woo-Hoo! Just got off the phone with Omar from Dr. Kelly's office. Everything is ready and good to go! He has informed me that I will have 4 sleeve buddies getting sleeved the same day! That is such wonderful news since I am traveling alone from Michigan. Any others out there meeting me in San Diego for the trip across the border on April 22 nd? I am back and feeling fantastic! It was a great experience and I am glad to be on the "losing side" now. I actually had the surgery done on Sunday ( with my other two "sleeve sisters") So, Monday was my first post-op day. I won't kid you, my first post op day was rough! I had a lot of gas and bouts of nausea. I couldn't lay down in the bed without being super uncomfortable. I asked for a recliner that I saw in another room be brought in and they did. That was much easier to sit in and be comfortable. I did A LOT of walking, and I am sure that is why on Tuesday I felt fabulous! It was a total turn around. I haven't even had any pain or pain medication since Monday. Dr. Kelly and his staff are awesome! His wife Cece, Omar, and the doctor that assists him are equally outstanding folks! I felt so taken care of and pampered after surgery. Hotel Lucerna is beautiful and a wonderful place to recuperate. I am so thankful I chose Dr. Kelly to perform my VSG. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is researching going to Mexico. I am now 6 days post op and feel like I didn't even have surgery. My incisions are healing well, and the stomach bloating is going down daily. I have not weighed myself because I do not want to be a " slave to the scale" and will weigh once a week. I plan on doing weekly weigh-ins on Monday. It was great to meet new friends as well. my sleeve sisters and I will certainly keep in touch and follow each others journey to better health! Hello Everyone! I was sleeved on 4/22. It was supposed to be on 4/23 but Dr. Kelly said we can do it today ....so I did! So did my sleeve sisters. Today we are going for the leak test and then to the hotel. I feel fantastic. I won't kid you the day after was pretty rough. I had a lot of gas pain and couldn't lie down. It had disapated later in the evening so I was able to sleep. Today...I feel fabulous. Everyone here at the hospital has been wonderful and Dr.Kelly and his wife Cece are just the nicest people! If you are debating about having the sleeve or going to Mexico I can tell you I am very glad I made this decision to come here and do it. Scoot over folks...I'm on the loser's bench with you! I can't tell you how glad I am that I chose him for my surgeon. JeanieG, So, I guess we will be riding across the border together! My plane arrives around 10:45 from Michigan on the 22 nd. Omar told me someone was arriving a bit earlier than me. I am very excited and looking forward to starting my journey with the sleeve. So glad I am going to have others with me during this time over there! I am looking forward to meeting you JeanieG!

What everyone has said is pretty much it for RECENT activity. www.obesityhelp.com www.gastricsleeve.com I found a few others ..but most were for gastric bypass (RNY) and very outdated ('09-'10) postings.

Hey Gang! I am going on my own in April to have the VSG with Dr. Kelly on the 23rd. I am excited and hope to meet a few folks from the boards while there! I am from Michigan so I will be flying into San Diego on the 22nd and flying home on the 26th. I have been in contact with Anaid and she has been very accommodating and quick to reply to emails. anyone going at the same time?

Oh boy....like the rest of you I am in the same boat. when I started inquiring about a week and a half ago after many, many hours of research; I made the inquiry to Trish, filled out my health questionaire, and was settled on a date (April 23rd). the only thing left to do was send in a deposit. Well, then all this drama started! I have had email correspondence with Dr. Kelly ( prior to Trish leaving) and talked on the phone to Trish. she let me know that she was no longer booking for Dr. Kelly and did not bad mouth ( she said she didn't want to be unethical) but she felt is was a necessary move. Hmmmm.. She also has received rave reviews about her care and genuine concern for Dr. Kelly's patients. Now...what to do? I don't know except I have done a bit more research and Dr. Ponce de Leon also has good credentials and many satisfied patients. I have already booked my tickets for San Diego for April 22nd ( thank goodness it's through reward mileage...so I can get a refund of my miles back into my account) but I have to be just as certain with the decision to go with this Dr. as I was about Dr. Kelly. I have yet to decide if I will go directly through Dr. Kelly or go with a different surgeon. All I know is, just do your due diligence, research, ask questions, and follow your gut..( no pun intended!! That's my plan!

I am planning on going alone in April. I am arriving in San Diego on Sunday 22nd and having surgery on the 23rd. I am not bothered by it at all. I have traveled all over the world ( currently reside in China). I am sure as my surgery date gets closer, I will discover one or more people being there around the same time. I look at it as my big adventure to the new and improved me!!

Hey Everyone, So..I have booked my flight to San Diego. I have completed the necessary paperwork and set a date with Dr. Kelly. I am excited and the countdown begins....anyone else heading to Mexico at the same time as me? It would be great to have a "sleeve buddy" to do this with. I will be traveling alone from Michigan on April 22 and return on the 26. Just let me know.....
