I started the second phase of my pre-op diet on Friday (1/6/2012), it consists of 4 Protein shakes with 0 carbs, my protein has 25gr of protein per shake. On Friday I cheated and ate some nuts, and I could only manage to drink 2 shakes. On Saturday I cheated again and ate 1 oz of meat , but I did manage to drink 3 shakes. On Sunday I did not cheat!!!! I drank 3 shakes. My surgery is tomorrow, and I am very glad I am not going to be drinking that many shakes anymore. My concern is that I have been losing too much weight! I have lost 6 pounds from Friday to Sunday. I know it might seem like a good thing, but Im worried its muscle I am losing, and I don't have much to start with. Has anyone had something like this happen before surgery? Any thoughts are welcome.

I have the nows food whey protein isolate, the unflavored kind. I am hating them now because I had to drink it as is, with no carbs, and I am in my native country until a month after surgery, here they don't have many carb friendly options. But I am planning on using it in Calorie Countdown milk if I don't become lactose intolerant, I love their milk, it only has 3 carb in 8oz, and their choco milk has 4 carbs in 8oz. Its the lack of variety thats killing me. Lucky for me I am not a coffee drinker, not much of a tea drinker either, I like my milk =)

So my surgery will be tomorrow early in the morning and I am just so nervous and excited! I am very sedentary, but today I can't seem to sit still for more than a few minutes, my dad told me I was making him dizzy. I have packed and repacked my bag half a dozen times, I have changed my purse a few times, I don't know what else to do. Maybe I should go to sleep, but I don't know if I will be able to sleep, I have to wake up at 3am to get ready. This surgery is so close I can smell it! Thank you Jesus for making this possible =)

I went to the Dr. today, and after seeing that I had lost 61 pounds he asked me when I wanted the surgery done; I said as soon as possible. The Dr. said I could have it done on Tuesday of next week, when I heard that I think my eyes bugged out and I couldn't say YES! fast enough. So after months of waiting for insurance, then bloodwork to be done the day is finally right around the corner =) Thank you Jesus, because you made this possible!!! My highest weight was 380 First Dr. appointment 368 Today!!! 307 I am soooooooooo happy =) -
Being Told By Everyone How Much Better Gastric Bypass Is ...

My dad was supportive, he wanted me to have any type of surgery done since December 2010, I was the one who didn't want surgery. Thank you for the recovery wishes =) -
This might be a stupid question, but what is gas pain like? I have read about it being there right after surgery, but I have no clue what gas pain is.

Recently I have been really concerned with sagging skin, so I thought doing weights in the gym after surgery would help with that. I have read some previous posts, and just wanted to ask if carbs before the weights, Protein after is the way to go? I don't want to bulk up, I am aiming for toned, and reducing skin sagging as much as possible. Also, does the resistance band workout work as well as weights? or stick to weights? Thank you in advance!!! =)

Being Told By Everyone How Much Better Gastric Bypass Is ...
Paola replied to Catracks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dad is a Doc so he went to my first appointment with me, the Surgeon wanted me to do the bypass because I so heavy, I said no thank you I want the sleeve. The funny thing is that my dad is like 'Paola, he's the doctor, he knows best', I just refuse to have my organs moved around more than necessary. So the Surgeon said he couldn't force me and that was that. I am very afraid of all the malabsorption, and the dumping. In my opinion the most important part of both surgeries is that your stomach will be much smaller and you will eat less; therefore, why not go for the one that is a little easier on you and your body? -

I told the Dr. I had been doing it since the end of October, he was impressed. I remember his secretary telling me during our first appt that sometimes people tried to do it for 3 weeks, but it was hard to do. The great thing is that because the surgery is in less than a week, I will only do the 4 Protein shakes with 0 carbs for like 4 days, instead of a whole week. I am so excited I have spent all night and day telling everyone I know about my surgery date. -
My endoscopy results came in, and they say I have moderate chronic gastritis, would this affect my surgery in any way?
-
I guess it didn't matter because he set my surgery date for next Tuesday.

Ive had this victory outfit in my mind since I decided to have the surgery; a sexy red top, with a tight short zebra print skirt, and some shiny red pumps. I never wear prints on my bottom because I think it would make it look bigger, but after I lose my excess weight I'd love to wear a print every now and again.

I haven't had my surgery yet, I am still doing my pre-op diet, its been 2 months now (my surgery has been postponed a few times >.<). On Monday of last week I was 307 and since that day my weight goes up to 309.36, and then down to 306.99. I'll go down 1 pound one day, up 1 pound the next day, or go up and up for a few days and then down, and then up again! (I did have my period until Wednesday). It is so frustrating, I did exercise only twice last week because I wasn't feeling well, the days I didn't exercise I would eat less calories, I have not stopped tracking what I eat in myfitnesspal. I know in my head that to go up I would need to consume 3500 over what I eat, and it takes me 4 days to eat 3500 calories anyway! Is this normal? A stall?

I don't know much about weight lifting, but could some of the weight gain be that you have more muscle now? I think I read somewhere that muscle is heavier than fat. Just a thought.

Help! Thinking About Backing Out!
Paola replied to Bcole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 24 too, and I weigh 318, right now I don't have any health issues like high blood pressure or diabetes, but I know that if I don't put a stop to my weight gain they are coming. I do not have low self esteem, and I am not self concious about my weight, I love putting on a swimming suit and go have fun at a pool or beach. All that been said, airplanes are a pain, going on a public bus is a pain, the fact that I have to buy my clothes online at onestopplus.com is a pain. Right now my knees don't bother me, but a few more years with all this weight and my poor knees are gonna start shouting at me. -
I am a little concerned about my hair post-op, I already feel like I am losing some. I think my hair is more like a security blanket, before I would always say "at least I have nice hair". Anyone else feels like this? I guess I can always get a wig, maybe I'll look good as a redhead =P
