Your internal swelling is probably all gone now, so you can fit more than before. I have noticed that i can eat more if i wanted to, but i choose to stick with 1/2 cup of food at a time.

Even my digital scale varies, so i weigh myself a few times and go with the average. Maybe i am wearing the poor thing out, since i weigh myself everytime i use the bathroom!

Don't be so hard on your hubby, maybe HE is looking for some support. He wants to be reassured that you will be okay. Mine did the same thing, and i was not happy about it. My sisters hubby told her inlaws that she too will be having WLS. It must be a mans' way of dealing with the unknown.

I told a few people at work, now i dont know who they have told, but i feel people looking at me and wondering....also the ones i have told ask me everytime i see them "how much now?"....it is kind of a nusissance. I didnt tell my inlaws yet, because they were against it when i brought it up, but i may tell them in about 1 year. If an overweight person REALLY wanted to know then i would confide in them(to offer hope to others), but the thin ones, no way. They want to talk about their latest "southbeach diet" or something. I have never been happy to have someone tell me that i am looking thinner, because in the past, it was always temporary...and i always had SO much more to go, and never got there.

Welcome to bandland!

I would sign up with a couple of doctors, since it takes almost a year before you get any real action, you may have insurance by then....you can always delay if not. I didnt get charged for any pre-surgery workshops either.

Hi sassyred! I had my band 9/17/03, close to your date! I will be getting my first fill this week, day before thanksgiving of all times....but i have never been able to eat more than 4-6 oz since surgery, I wondered if i should hold off on the fill. How are you doing?

My doctor recommends 2 childrens chewable multivitamins daily. It's easy to do and not too expensive.

Welcome daria, I am having my 20th wedding anniversary this week, thank goodness not the same present you got! lol I know exactly how you feel about being able to be active with a little one. I regret i didnt learn about the band sooner. I think i would have went to more public pools and stuff with my dtr if i had been thinner. I havent worn shorts in 15 years, but maybe this coming summer....!Best of luck to you

Yes it really works, not quite as fast as you may like but it is consistent. When you are full, you ARE full. I am happy to lose a bit slower so that my skin is not all sagging, and my co workers think i am just being successful on another diet for once! I haven't exercized at all YET(but am planning to start), and i am still losing. I cheated by eating halloween candy but did not gain which is a miracle itself. I love my band!

Welcome! I just wanted to say that while you are contemplating which to do, you may as well sign up and get the paper work started. It takes anywhere from 4 to 12 months to actually get scheduled for surgery. By the time you actually get a date, you have had plenty of time to consider and research everything. It is frustrating to have to wait when you finally decide. It took 7 months after i called, got the papers to fill out, returned them, then i waited, and waited for that phone call to come in for a group meeting, Then i got my list of test to get completed before i would get a date. It was then 2 More months before i was actually operated on. What a long process! Good Luck!
