Aiming For March Surgery In Mx!
cissiesue replied to Jesser's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Almanza is one of the less expensive ones, and I hear that is how it works. I paid 200 (with a small discount) more with Dr Kelly, and he admitted me and my family that were were also sleeved, into the hospital, the day before our surgeries. Almanza has a schedule that he picks ppl up from SD, and so if you get there after that you will need to get a hotel overnight. At least that is what I understand. -

I had a great experience with Dr Kelly! You are in wonderfully skilled hands! My only real tip would be, to do at least a ten day pre op diet to shrink your liver well. Dont cheat! Dr Kelly says that its non compliant patients that have a longer surgery and that could lead to longer healing times! (hugs) -
Dr Kelly does not. If surgery is under 90 min, a lot of surgeons dont
-
This is normal! It took me 2 full Weeks til I could go a day without a nap in the afternoon. Get your rest, and heal! (hugs)

I had neither! unless you're a higher bmi, the surgery takes less than an hour, so usually, no catheter is needed. Also, in my experience, again, unless you are a higher bmi, you most likely won't have a drain. But honestly, you need to talk to your surgeon, and see what his preferences are.

You do that now? Im not ready to go that hard. I swim laps 3x a wk for an hour each time, then the other 3 days, I walk with weights for 30-60 min, depending on the heat and my energy level. I dont eat enough cals at a month out to sustain a heavy work out. Soon, I'll be restarting my 30 day shred vid I have from my last major weightloss attempt a couple years ago -

When I do the gym, I do 30 min of cardio, then 30 min of light weights, for toning. Not quite ready for the gym yet, but im getting there! I love my pool time and summer right now! -
Return Flight Time (Kelly Patients)
cissiesue replied to binipkey's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Our flight was at 6pm. We chose that time, simply because it was a non stop flight. the day you leave will most likely dictate the time you wait to get accross. Dr. K (and the other drs) has a medical pass, do you get in a much shorter line. We left on a Friday at about 315pm, & it took over an hour to get accross.. Cecey, has a good idea of what the crossing times are, and will plan your departure accordingly -
Magical Mexican Broth
cissiesue replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The broth at the hotel (lucerna) was just bullion cubes. Nothing special. However, the broth ay Cada de Mole was delicious! I agree with Finding Myself, about the pre and post op comment, but the flavor, no matter how simple, was amazing! And the fresh cilantro gave it a tiny crunch that was very refreshing since, for some of us had been on a purely liquid diet for over two weeks. Id give my big toe for some of that broth right now! -

Have Doubts? Dont Dr Kelly Is Amazing
cissiesue replied to heatherinoregon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Lol happens to me all the time! So when are you going to see Dr K? Can your Mom go with you? That might help a lot with a few of her concerns. Like I said prior, your pcp will most likely care for you post op. And you're correct, the ER HAS to treat you, but like you said, maybe at your own cost. I saw on a diffetent post on here yhat you can buy INS to cover up to 50k if you have complications. I was scared, and had a mini breakdown right before we left cor the airport. Those feelings are normal! I was not scared when I got wheeled into surgery, but I can understand why people would be. Dr Kelly & Omar took lots of time talking with my group, answering questions ore op. We got there the day before, and it allowed us to settle in, see other patients who were just sleeved, and get acclimated to our surroundings. I think that helped our anxieties quite a bit! Im very excited for you! I was very close to your bmi, and today im 30 days out and down 26 pounds! -

cissiesue replied to heatherinoregon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You need to talk to your pcp about aftercare. It will mostly consist of a blood panel every 3-4 months for the first year. If your pcp has an issue caring for you, drop them and go elsewhere, but in the meantime, you can go into any wslk in clinic to have labs run. Im ten years older than you and have children in grade school, I understand your/her concerns, but honestly, you have chosrn a phenomenal surgeon, and unless you have some major health problems, or have sn extra high bmi, you will do great! But Dr k eill do surgery on patients other drs won't touch. Hes incredible! -

Tell mom that Dr k does 3 leak tests, 2 in surgery, and one 48hrs later. Also, you can tell her that the main complication is a leak, and Dr k hasnt had one in years! He also sews the fundis(sp) onto the sleeve over the area that usually is thr most prone to a leak. Tell her that Dr K is a fellow in the prestigious American College of Surgeons (FACS) and that he has been a bariatric surgeon 2x as long as most American surgeons performing the sleeve. he also belongs to the American bariatric association. He also graduated from college magna cum lade (sp) (with honors) So, in essence you are choosing an higher American standard of surgeon with a Mexico price! I believe he is extremely gifted, kind, and skilled -

Ok...so yesterday, I caught a small glimmer of movement of my scale, this morning a touch more. I usually only weigh 2x a week, but I just had to see if it was real. Please, please join me in praying that this is a sign of the stall breaking -
Yes! DO NOT contact alighterme with regatd to Dr Kelly. He is not affiliated with them at all. They just use his image to trick his potential patients into booking with them, all the while, they will set you up with one of their contracted drs. I dpoke with Dr k about this, and he said he'd need to start legal action

I just started my 4th week today. I can start incorporating solid foods as tolerated. Breakfast, protien shake, lunch 1 Oz skinless rotisserie chicken, and 1/4 cottage cheese. Do far so good! Im stuffed from lunch, it took me over 20 min to get it all down

5 Weeks Out Of Surgery....stalling Already
cissiesue replied to carriecat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im 4 Weeks out today, and have been in a stall for just under 2 Weeks. I noticed at day 16/17 that the scale was not moving, so I upped everything, water, exercise, protien, calories, and just this morning, I saw the scale move slightly. Im not counting it as a loss just yet. Ill wait til wed/thur when I weigh again, to see what the scale has to say! Hang in there, this is a crazy ride! -
