  1. And I'm going to see Dr Kelly in June! I already like him so much! Can't wait to meet him in less than 90 days! Best of luck, and keep us posted!
  2. Chap stick, tooth brush, hair ties, comfy clothes, (moo moos, sweats etc) slipper socks, gas x strips, heating pad, cell phone, kindle, or iPad, are the things I've seen most people are sayings
  3. Great question! Loving the answers!
  4. Aging, not adding lol
  5. Well, I must say, I was completely for the bypass, until I educated myself better. One major benefit the sleeve has over the bypas is, that you can take NSAIDS, like Motrin, ibuprofen etc...that spoke volumes to me since arthritis is an adding problem, and anti inflammatory needs are paramount to helping live with that particular disease. So, I didn't wasn't to limit my future older self, for a quicker fix today
  6. There us a girl named "slimmfast" on you tube. I am enjoying watching her journey, and I have to say I can relate to many things she struggles with. Check her out!
  7. I was glad to vote for you!
  8. I'm super glad you changed! Dr Kelly seems to be amazing and very skilled/experienced! You week do great, I wish I were going with you! June can't get here soon enough!

    March Roll Call!

Kbs, when I spoke with Dr Kelly, he told me that he does require a two week pre op diet, but no one follows it! So he said the days is the absolute minimum, and should be more if your bmi is over 40! Best of luck to you my dear! I can't wait to hear about your success in the near future!
  10. Kbs, you changed to Dr Kelly? That makes me smile! When are you going?
  11. Wonderful news! I'm so happy to hear this!! Can't wait to see Dr Kelly and Anaid in June!!

Six Months Is Way Too Long

They mandate that to try to discourage you. Hand in there and carry on! Play their game and win!
  16. Your "hunger pangs" are most likely gas. Get some prilosec or nexium,, or gasex strips'
  17. Yes, as I never really considered the vsg since it wasn't offered by the surgeons in my area. But now that I'm self pay, I spoke with my new surgeon and he suggested this surgery over the gastric bypass I was considering. To be honest I'm scared I won't lose the weight I need to (125) with the sleeve, hence the reason I joined this forum. I think this surgery is best since who knows what we will face as we get older. If we get arthritis, we can take Motrin, but with bypass, not so much.

  19. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I would just tell him you are having surgery and leave it at that, your not lying, or using a different surgery as cover. What happens if you do need to have female, hernia, or gall bladder surgery in the future? Just like some others have said, hippa, gives you the right to privacy. Its no ones business but yours! Good luck to you, and keep us all informed of your progress!!

    Surgery May14, 2012

I wish I were! I'm going in June, no funds until then :/ wishing you the best of luck, i'm sure you are in good hands
  21. You're surgeon gives you a option? Mine uses a 36fr over sewn to a 34. To me that sounds perfect

    7 Weeks Check Up!

I have a small stash of clothes that range from my current (22) down to a 16. I think I will fill in with some clothes from the new to you shop until I get closer to a goal...note if I could just decide in a goal lol. Can't wait to be on the losers bench with all you fine people
  23. The size of the bougie is ultimately up to your doctor. Mine uses a 36 bougie fr and oversews to a 34. The size of the bougie doesn't necessarily dictate the size of your sleeve. 32 is the smallest, and not the standard from what I've seen
  24. Thank you Windy city Mom! Yes, I completely agree, that we all must do what's best for us! everything checks out with the facility a well as Dr Kelly. Its actually a cancer hospital with a full icu if unknown complications arise...Dr Kelly had been doing the vsg surgery alone (not with the ds) for six years. I don't know too many other surgeons that can say that! I'm so sorry you had complications glad you are home now, please keep us updated, and thanks for adding me as a friend
  25. I'm sticking with Dr Kelly. Their credentials are similar and he's a lot less
