  1. Forgot to add, my surgeon was Dr. Broussard, he and Dr. Walton are the only doctors at Weightwise, Edmond, Oklahoma. I went to my first informational seminar June, 2001 conducted by Dr. Broussard without any knowledge of my family and friends. I was never pressured to make an appointment to proceed with the process. I contacted Weightwise again last week of November, 2011. My husband and I attended another information seminar with Dr. Broussard. Satisfied with the safety record- no deaths, the facility, the stringent procedure, the post-surgery support as well as the fantastic staff. I cannot tell you enough how much the staff matters as I interact with them much more than the doctor. I am aware of several staff members having the surgery which allows them to speak from personal experience. I began the process December 5, 2011 completed all the requirements and had surgery January 10, 2012. I went to my first post-op support group and was surrounded by @ 40 people interested in the process, in the pre-op phase, and patients from one week post op to four years post-op. Topics ranged from how to deal with friends and family not on- board with the surgery to how not to graze on nuts. At the group several people asked patients who recently had the surgery about concerns such as the post-surgery two week liquid surgery, pain from the surgery, and the hospital stay. I was amazed the pain from the surgery was very minimal, I took pain medication one time after I left the hospital. My biggest concern was if I would actually feel different inside - the sensation of drinking and eating - would I feel the liquid and food moving through my system? I FEEL NOTHING DIFFERENT
  2. I was private pay- no insurance so money is a big concern. I have never been forced to purchase their items. On my discharge date I walked out of the hospital, went upstairs and purchased two six-packs of ready-made chocolate Protein shakes, strawberry bannana Jello mix and chicken Soup mix, along with my multi-vitimin. I purchased the items there because of convience and the products have added protein in the amounts I need post-surgery. I compared the products to Carnation Instant Breakfast and regular broth from the store, both item lack significantly in the protien department and exceed sodium. Total costs about $30.00 The chewable vitimin was about $28.00 for a three month supply. Again I liked the fact that the vitimin met my specific needs. Prehaps in the fuure I will compare the products with those at Walgreens. I did not have to do a liquid diet prior to my sugery, only 24 hours prior. I have a friend who did need to do the liquid diet about 5 weeks before and she purchased the product first at the store- then switched to purchasing them at Weightwise for the cost and convience. She lost significantly more pre-op and was in better shape nutrition wise with the Weightwise products. Best suggestion I can offer is go to the information seminar, look at the facility, attend a support group meeting all are oopen to the public and FREE. Talk to actual patients and ask questions. You need to be comfortable with the doctor, facility and price. I will say the price is what they say. no hidden fees.
