  1. @rahnava, best of luck to you! @adamsmom...THANK YOU! I think you just gave me the motivation and info I need to do this! Thanks
  2. My husband, sister and co-workers have staged an "intervention" and want me to try working out and have forced me to cancel. I honestly know how it'll go but will give it a chance.
  3. Just wanted to give you an updated. So I decided to cancel my surgery date w/ A Lighter Me...I was scheduled w/ Dr. Garcia as you know already. Let me tell you..the people at A Lighter Me are professionals. Ms. Sandy Johnston is a classy lady and I believe she is passionate about helping people. I don't think it is all about profit for her. They refunded all my money including the 3% processing fee back to my card within an hour or so. I was just blown away by how nice and caring they were. She even called to follow up with me after I cancelled! We all know most businesses don't do that. If anyone is not sure about Dr. Garcia and/or A Lighter Me...Pls do not have any doubts. Those people are there to help. And no I am not being paid by anyone lol...
  4. So I spoke with Ms. Sandy earlier tonight briefly. I have decided to stay w/ Dr. Garcia for good reason. I am not going to get into the details of our conversation bcos some might dismiss the details as just a smearing campaign. All I can say is we all need to do our research. Dr. Kelly is a great bariatric surgeon but since I have already paid my deposit I am going to stick w/ Dr. Garcia. I feel good about it after speaking w/ Sandy. Good luck to us all.
  5. Hi Adamsmom, I think the doctor's office you choose to go to can give you an invoice that you can give to your fsa vendor and they will cut a check directly to the doctor/coordinator as long as your doctor provides a letter stating it is medically necessary. I am in the same boat as you are. My insurance might pay if I go through hoops and feilds and everything else but I don't want to deal w/ the hassle honestly. I've had two major surgeries in the US and both have left me w/ never ending bills.
  6. I actually got in contact with Dr. Kelly himself. He sent me some info. But I am holding on till I talk to Linda because she is really nice.
  7. @ShoeLover...When did you contact ALighterMe ? I paid my deposit about 10 days ago and I had the option of Dr. Kelly and/or Dr. Garcia among others. Interesting. But yeah I completely understand about the FSA.
  8. @Seannie...I am waiting till I speak to my coordinator Linda. Both Linda and Ms. Sandy are such nice people to talk to. Linda returned my call today but I missed her call because I was working. I haven't heard anything official from Linda that she cannot book me w/ Dr. Kelly so I am going to wait to hear from her. I LOVE the way the people at A Lighter Me operate and would LOVE to use Dr. Kelly through them. Keeping my fingers crossed. On another note...not to sound horrid but has anyone noticed that most of our fellow sleevers that get new stomachs in Mexico usually don't have a lot of complications. Usually my fellow sleevers w/ complications have surgeons in the US. Anyone else notice that ?
  9. Let me start by saying that Linda graciously got back to me late last night. Said she has been very busy the past two days and promised to call me back today. Now to answer your question...I initially decided to go w/ Dr. Zapata in Monterrey till I found out his price is $8,700. I then wanted to go w/ Dr. Kelly but my coordinator explained that Dr. Garcia was a really good surgeon (I have no doubt he is based on his reviews). I decided to do a little research and get back to her. I researched Dr. Garcia and read somewhere that he worked alongside Dr. Kelly. I was sold on that. So booked w/ him and paid my deposit. Now after further research I have learned that he didn't really work alongside Dr. Kelly (found info on obesityhelp.com). Not sure what is true. So I have decided to go w/ Dr. Kelly just based on the fact that he has more experience and is a F.A.C.S But I think both are good surgeons.

    Air Travel

I am planning to fly into TJ myself, haven't been sleeved yet. I think you will be fine because most people are walking around the next day. My doctor advises that on the airplane it is important to walk every 30-45 mins. I might change my date to mid-March w/ for Dr. Kelly so might cya!
  11. Mine is Linda. She usually responds to me within a few minutes to a few hours. I asked to swtich from Dr. Garcia to Dr. Kelly.
  12. Mrsteacher, I have thought about your scenerio too. But not even sure how that would work honestly. I am scheduled for my gastric sleeve with Dr. Fernando Garcia in TJ on Oct 4th, 2012 (yes..it is that far out...sigh). I also suffer from hyperhidrosis and wanted to see if any doctors in TJ could help me with that problem but I don't even know where and how to begin researching. Will let you know if I find any info but I'm sure it is possible to do other things while there. Good luck!
