Hi Kat , welcome....i just turned 59 on April 24th and sleeved 1 week ago today on May 2nd.... I too wish i would have done this years ago.... No regrets at all!!! **************** Day 7 ------- today was my 7-day post-op doctor appointment... 328 - highest weight - (Nov 2011 - began the process for WLS - started high protein diet while doing all the insurance required appointments) 294 - day of surgery 278 - 7 days post-op (drum roll please) -16 lbs ..... OMG ..... i am so shocked..... I know i will NOT continue loosing at this rate, but i am so excited!!! Total weight loss from day 1 is 50 pounds!!! Things I think about: 1- 50 pounds that my arthritic knees, hips and back no longer have to support! (they are happy with me) 2- My blood sugar is under control, so no more diabetic medicine... (i was on metformin, glyberyde (sp) and Byetta shots)... my doctor told me he would hold off putting me on insulin shots, until we checked my numbers after surgery) **** numbers normal! **** 3- I am NOT hungry. I use the clock to tell me when to add fuel to my body....i am ""Eating to live" no longer, "Living to eat" hope you all had a super fantastic day, g'nite Sandy/tjmom

Day 6.... i can't believe tomorrow is one week post op! i have my doctor appointment at 2:15 tomorrow and am looking forward to it... I guess i want confirmation by the doctor on how great i feel... today i would like something with a bit more flavor... I have been having vanilla and chocolate Protein drinks, blended cream of mushroom Soup, beef or chicken broth, sugar free cherry Jello or Sugar Free Chocolate or butterscotch pudding... Can we say bland! i don't want to upset the healing process of my sleeve but am looking forward to Friday when i am allowed refried Beans and melted cheese! Hope ya all had a great day! Sandy

Me again.... Today is Monday so Day 5.... the sleeve is awesome ... yesterday was our 5 yr wedding anniversary and our 17 yr old cat had a stroke... So it was a bitter sweet day... But we made it through... We had to put her down as it affected her hind legs... RIP princess, we will love you forever.. Back to life: getting in 60+ grams Protein for last 3 days... Water intake also going well...Vanilla protein mixed in orange Crystal light... So very tasty ... Like a creamscycle...Sugar Free Jello and sugar free pudding thinned going down great... Also has strained cream of mushroom soup... Finding out that about 1/4 to 1/3 cup per meal fills me up... Today a bit more tired than yesterday...but pain is almost nothing.... lol.... Yes, burping like a trucker, but even that is lessening ... Have a great day everyone and talk to you all again soon... xoxox Sandy

Day 4... everything easier today than yesterday... Dr Billing told my husband i had a "long" stomach..it makes me smile as i am only 5'3".. lol.. Always thought i had a hollow leg life is great, sun is shining and pain is almost gone. Still a bit when i cough but eases quickly! Loving life to the fullest! thank you for all your support! Sandy

Sandi .... Hi, nice to meet you while you are in the hospital....check out a few things to decide if you need help a bit when you get home. 1- are you able to get out of bed without assistance ? 2- are you able to get off the toilet by yourself ? 3- are you able to walk around by yourself ? 4- are you able to fix your own meals ? if you are able to do these things then you should be ok... What happened to me is, the muscles in my stomach area were/are hurting so much that when i got my tush lower than my knees, i needed help getting upright... But today being day 3, i am almost able to do it all by myself... A little trouble yet, getting out of bed...but everything else all ok... If you have someone available for the first evening / next morning at home, i would ask them to stay....it would give you piece of mind...but if you are doing all ok before leaving the hospital, see if you can have someone on stand-by at home....just in case... Good luck and keep me updated.. Healing hugs sent your way! Sandy

@Newfoundlove ..... My surgery was yesterday May 2 at Puget Sound Surgery Center in Edmonds WA also..... Dr Billing my surgeon too..... Love him also.... We need to stay in touch, you and i!!!! ******************************************* 1st Post-op post!!! Surgery was Wednesday 6:30 am check in... Discharge today (Thursday) 6:00 am .... My arthritic back, knees, hips and shoulders hurt more than my stomach... Don't get me wrong, my stomach was sore but completely tolerable.... I am so impressed with Puget Sound Surgical Center in Edmonds WA, all surgical procedures done in Edmonds WA but for the northern WA and Canadian customers, there is an office in Bellingham! Surgeons, Nutritious and staff come to Bellingham for the pre and post op appointments ... Clear liquids yesterday and today... protein liquids next 7 days... Pureed foods for 7 days.... Soft and Mushy for 2 weeks ..... June 3rd regular foods (1/4 - 1/3 cup portions).... My journey has begun and i am so excited ...
