Hair Loss Question!
beautifulnewme2012 replied to Izzysnanny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Short hair can be a double edged sword...sometimes easier to wash and dry but, depending on what style u get, harder to keep up with. If you cut it, keep it something simple. You will thank yourself if its low maintenance while you are healing. And it will grow back. Might not as fast as pre surgery...so know that. But you should be good to go! -

Its Becoming All Too Real And Scared!

Congrats to you!! -
I just switched from Biolage to the Keratin Complex...man what a difference...they actually have products on the market for "plumping" the hair. If the thinning becomes annoying. I have used them even though my hair is super thick, to achieve the "texas hair" LOL...it plumps your cuticle layer making the hair feel and appear thicker. Mix some thickening serum with a small amount of mousse and blow dry...it works awesome!

OK, here is what I posted for someone that was noticing some hair loss and someone who was wondering about the Nioxin prior to seeing hair loss...if you have any questions let me know... I am a licensed Barber with LOTS of experience with Nioxin...it's safe to start using the Nioxin now. Before the loss begins if you like. Just know that Nioxin acts to cleans your hair and scalp by way of eliminating any hair from follicles that may have become dormant. In order to cleanse out that follicle in hopes of it re-activating at some later point. Don't be surprised if you start seeing a little more hair loss before you start noticing it growing back. That process can take 6 to 8 weeks of use. Also, don't bother with the Nioxon brand Vitamins as they are EXTREMELY COSTLY, much more so than Biotin or hair skin and nail formula and are the same thing...stick with the Biotin and save your money. Nioxin has a Follicle Booster out now that I do recommend. Its awesome and can jump start the follicle re-activation process..please let me know if you need any other hair related tips...this is my specialty!!! And most of all even though ur hair is falling out some, still get trimmed once in a while and use a good conditioner....deep conditioning once a week while massaging your scalp will help. Any way to keep the blood flowing to the scalp is awesome...brush it out at night, every night with a bore bristled brush to spread the natural oils through the hair shaft ....I got mine at Sally Beauty Supply...and get a good shampoo brush...use it when shampooing and conditioning...I hope this helps!!!

Thinking I Am Just To Nervous To Go Through With The Surgery :(
beautifulnewme2012 replied to Izzysnanny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember this isn't the bypass at all. My mother n law had the bypass and is back in plus sizes less than 10 yrs later. When I told her I was getting sleeved she was jealous. She said she wished she could have gotten it back when she was given her options. And all the people I know who were banded feel the same way...you have chosen wisely. Don't let doubts creep in and take away your blessing! -

Any May Dates? Or Upstate Ny Sleevers?
beautifulnewme2012 replied to Izzysnanny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Jill...the surgeons offc called me this day last week and said they needed to reschedule. I didn't ask why. I am trying to be patient and calm when things change. That's been something about myself that has needed to change for a long time. So I just said ok and moved on!! Hopefully they won't call me today and do the same thing..hehehehhe -
I am a licensed barber though I don't work in the field any longer...I am a stay at home Mom...if you look up a post that says Biotin-How Soon Post Op? I posted some suggestions to help prevent the hair loss as well as suggestions for helping minimalize it/help it grow back in if you end up experiencing some. If I need to I can log on to my computer and copy/paste the info here too...let me know if u would like me to do that and I will!!

Rethinking Relationships, Careers And Life... Post Sleeve?!?
beautifulnewme2012 replied to favoredone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not post sleeve yet either. But I do feel that I will be more open when I decide to go back to work on where I apply. So many times I have wanted to apply at certain places but don't because I never see heavy people at these places and would feel like a fish out of water. That will feel awesome! And @FatGirlSlim....I am married to a wonderful man. But was married before. I know what you are going through. Don't settle!! I kissed many frogs and now have my prince. And feel very blessed to have him. And you will find yours too! -

Gallbladder Problems Anyone?
beautifulnewme2012 replied to PattieW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine removed years ago. Not sleeved yet. Glad the gallbladder came out first. I would've hated thinking my sleeve was causing all that pain and discomfort. -

Regular Eating (After Pureed Stage)
beautifulnewme2012 replied to lil4heartz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes forever. Because liquids push food out of ur sleeve which could cause you to over eat or become hungrier faster thus hindering your weight loss... -

I have BCBSIL and got approved super fast. Word of advice though...call BCBSIL just to verify they received the request for approval. It sits in the inbox till someone notices its there unless you call, then they fish for it right away.

What Did You Wish You Knew Before Surgery
beautifulnewme2012 replied to Almostthere34's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank u!! I had her when I was very young so that's why! Also, I am certain something had to have gone wrong either during placement or soon after because a lot of my female friends have Mirena and haven't had one issue with it...just my luck. I have a different doc now. Maybe I will try it again after surgery. -
What Did You Wish You Knew Before Surgery
beautifulnewme2012 replied to Almostthere34's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hubby and I used condoms without incident for over a year but we got tired of them so we switched to the pill back in Nov. We will just go back to condoms for a while. He is in his forties and we already have 4 kids...3 mine and one together. We plan on exploring vasectomy after surgery. We do NOT want to get pregnant...I had the Mirena but had it taken out due to severe pain it was causing me. But believe me, we will be extremely careful prior to and after surgery. I am NOT having more babies...my oldest graduates high school next year!! -

I take birth control pills now but plan on stopping them for good as I start my pre op diet. I hope they are out of my system prior to surgery long enuff not to cause any clots....this is scary stuff. What do u think?
