    I Have A Cold

Yes, ibuprofen is a NSAID...Non steroidal anti inflammatory. They are not nice to the tummy and can cause irritation and ulcers. So make sure that and aspirin aren't one of the ingredients in your medicine.

    Hurts When I Drink

I had pain when I drank too much at once, taking too big of a drink. I'm not sure if that may be happening to you but I would advise you call your doctor. Pressure on your chest doesn't sound good. You may have fluid in your lungs or worse. Please check with them!

    I Have A Cold

My doctor's office told me any form of Tylenol or products with acetominophen are fine. No NSAIDs & no aspirin though! I know the Tylenol brand makes several kinds of cold & flu relief meds and any Walmart or Walgreens should have their knock off versions. Hope you feel better soon!

    Pain Meds

This nasty, sickly sweet yellow liquid. Hydrocodone. I didn't even use a fourth of what they gave me. Money down the toilet!
  5. I've gotten a few compliments about looking great but I've got to say, being noticed more by men everywhere I go is the best thing ever! I got hit on by a couple of guys who looked about college age at the grocery store today! *blush* I've only lost 40 pounds but I think I'm regaining my self confidence. When I felt fat and frumpy I dressed that way and now that I'm feeling thinner I'm taking better care of my appearance. It's definitely paying off Thank you sleeve!

    Just Got Approved!

Woot woot! Congrats! The best thing you can do now is stock up on protein shakes and/or powders and other stuff for the liquid phase of your post op diet. You might not feel like getting out to the store for a few days after surgery. I brought slippers, socks, a change of clothes, books, my laptop, makeup and toiletries to the hospital. All I really used was my toothbrush, deodorant and change of clothes for the trip home. You will probably sleep a lot so don't bring too much stuff that you'll have to worry about trudging all the way back home.

    Day One

Yay, good for you! It is exciting to be starting a new chapter in life. Although the 6 month diet requirement stinks I feel it gave me a lot of time to prepare. I only wish I had been smart like you and found this website before my surgery! Congrats to you on the beginning of your journey. I look forward to seeing your progress

    Putting The Scale Away

Great idea Joiebean! I put my scale in the laundry room so I only weigh myself about once a week when I do laundry. I SO totally agree with going by how you feel instead of looking at the numbers. Lately I have been oober-stressing over calories instead of the more important things like protein and fluids. I'm just going to eat right and let my body tell me what I need to do rather than count myself to death by calories and pounds.
  17. Had my 1 month follow up visit with the doc today and his scale says I weigh 200. My last weigh in on my scale a week ago said 198. I'm a little disappointed, upset even. But on a lighter note, he gave me the green light to start working out so after I left his office I went and joined a gym. That's worth something even if I have only lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks right?

    I Am Home

Oh good, well hopefully you'll be feeling much better soon! It does get easier to get more down after the 1st couple of weeks once the swelling starts to go down.

    Flame Free Friday Confessions!

LOL Lilee! I am guilty of that as well! But not every morning...sometimes it's in the afternoon. I also drink 16oz of coffee every morning although that's more than I should have.

    I Am Home

I had similar problems with gas and acid in the beginning. Nothing wanted to stay down, at least not comfortably! I had to sleep sitting up for almost 2 weeks because the reflux was so painful. In the hospital they gave me a bottle of baby gas medicine Simethicone. That helped a lot. You don't have to do the baby drops, they have chewable stuff like Gas X, but the drops went down better at first. Also after taking my Protonics regularly for several days I felt much better. Does your doctor have you on any acid blockers?

    Boohoo :-( I'm Back In The 200S

Lol, yeah me too. I figured the doctors scale would be a couple pounds more but since I haven't been weighing myself I was hoping I'd lost some weight. I'm not sure, maybe this matters...? I looked back at my food entries in MyFitnessPal and I realized I selected the wrong protein shake for almost a week so instead of counting 30g it was only counting 10g. So, I ended up going over the daily protein requirement for several days. My doctor says to meet 60g but I've been trying to do up to 80g to hopefully avoid hair loss.

Why Does Everything Revolve Around Food?

Thank you Rootman, I like that quote. You pretty much summed it up!
  23. I'm really trying to change my life for the better but coworkers, friends, family...it seems everywhere I turn I'm being asked to go out to eat somewhere. Or any events that are planned include cake, cookies, cupcakes and other foods. Hell, I walked into a gym yesterday where they had a table of cookies and cupcakes set up for purchase. At a gym...Really?! It's like this food Devil knows my every weakness and is following me everywhere I go! LOL! I know there are other things to do besides eat. I need to be doing those things. Lord please help me overcome this food issue because it doesn't seem like there is any way I can avoid food altogether!

Why Does Everything Revolve Around Food?

    LOL...thanks for that visual Wheetsin!
  25. I've been mixing the GNC brand of unflavored protein powder with water and those little packets of sugar free flavoring. It tastes great! But the little crystals of protein mix left at the bottom, not so great. I read somewhere on here that the Unjury mixes the best so I bought some. Omg, after being mixed it smells like rotten meat and tastes just as bad. What is everyone else mixing it in to overpower that awful taste? I'd hate to have wasted my money
