  1. I started mushies a couple days ago and two things happened: First thing is my hunger increased dramatically. I feel as though I don't even have a band.... Second thing is that it's not difficult to eat foods at all. I've been told to eat mushies but I have tried pickles and Soup with noodles and I have no problem getting it down. I feel no restriction (i haven't had a fill yet, i know i'm not supposed to yet) but now that I'm on solid food my weight fluctuates about 2 pounds. I have tested the band by eating while drinking, eating quickly....and nothing. I don't feel any different. Has anyone else gone through this?
  2. I agree, they sugar coat the procedure too much. I expected the no restriction, I just did not expect things to go down as smoothly as they have. I think I'm going to go back to a liquid diet. For some reason it kept me full faster because I was almost bloated 24/7.
  3. Yeah, I feel extra hungry for some reason! How long did it take you to get your third fill? Thanks for the advice, I definitely don't want to blow anything out!
  4. Yeah, I kind of feel that way right now as you had previously explained. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I've been following my doctor's orders to a T. I am scheduled April 11th but it is not a sure thing that I will get a fill. Does it feel harder to get stuff down now that you've had a fill?
  5. WHAT, that is so weird! I don't even feel like my pouch is tight or anything because food just slides right through. How does that qwork, does it get harder to get foods down once you get fills?
  6. So I had my lap band/hernia repair on Tuesday and I still have not had a Bowel Movement. I am growing concerned because the Citracel that I have been drinking has not done anything for me. Is this normal? I know that my doctor said constipation was going to be an issue but I don't feel backed up (sorry for the vulgar description) or anything. Anybody else worry about this 4 days post-op? I am still in a lot of pain and I unfortunately have to go back to work on Tuesday. I feel hunger and none of the liquids seem to be holding me over. I don't know what I got myself into it seems. HELP? Thanks, Allie
  7. Everyone, I am happy to say that I finally had a BM this morning! It was a joyous moment! I drank the milk of magnesia and although it took 24 hours, it still did the trick! Thank you all for the suggestions! It really helps to hear different ideas! I really love this site!
  8. I bought it at Kroger. They have it in a blue bottle!
  9. I really appreciate all the feedback! I went to the store and bought milk of magnesia. I'm hoping it will do the trick! As for the hunger, I feel like it is getting a little better. I drank about 8 oz. of water and now I feel so bloated, thinking about eating makes me want to hurl. The mental hunger is going to be a struggle for me but I feel as though it will get easier to control once I have experienced it enough. I am still confused as to what the difference is but I think eventually I will be able to tell the difference. I still have not had a BM but I just took it so I'm not expecting immediate results. :} Water makes me feel very bloated, anyone else experience this? I just want to lay like a beach whale after a glass of water....
  10. Hello everyone! My name is Allie and I am a new member to this site. I have followed many of your stories for a couple months now but I was waiting until my surgery date was official to formally sign up. I have my pre-op on March 13th and my surgery is on the 14th. I am 20 years old and I decided to make a change to my eating habits and lifestyle. I don't have a lot of support from my parents and friends but my confidence in myself and my choice is what keeps me going. I know that this is going to change my life for the best but I am nervous much like everyone else on here! Any advice for the lap band? Did you have much support with your decision? I know that it is going to be a very difficult journey and I am just thankful there is an entire forum with so many people going through the same things I am going through. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Allie
  11. Marissa, have you been hungry at all during the liquids stage? I laughed when you said mushies! Has it been hard since you've had it?
  12. How long have you had the band and when did you hit your plateau? I'm worried about that and I've heard many people mention it with the band....
  13. I really appreciate your feedback! I am scared to face the negative comments as well. But I think we can turn that feedback into determination to prove them all wrong. You'll be getting banded a couple days before me and that's awesome! I hope everything goes well for you and that you have a safe and smooth recovery! I'm right behind you!
  14. What does the clear liquid consist of? chicken broth and Water? Haha!
  15. Thank you so much, that means a lot! I guess they don't know enough as you stated. They keep telling me it's a "cop-out" or the "easy-way out" which really upsets me. I just don't think anyone who is considering lap band is aware that the band itself doesn't make you lose the weight but the diet and determination does. I don't know what to tell them when they say it's a cop out. How long have you had the band?
  16. Is your meal low in carbs? Congrats on getting your surgery soon! I hope the approval goes well and everything goes right on track for surgery!
  17. How long did you do the pre-op diet for and how much weight did you lose?
  18. I don't really have one. They said I didn't really need to do one because my liver and stuff is healthy. My plan is to be on a diet a week before but I am not sure what would be the best diet to consider. Any suggestions of a good pre-op diet? Right now I am drinking a lot of Water and trying to stay away from calories.
  19. I'm 20 and I am getting banded on March 14th. I receive negative feedback from my friends and family as well. You just have to imagine yourself in a couple of years and know that it will all be worth it down the road. It is your body and you have to live with it. The negative reactions of others should be a push to succeed even further with the surgery. Years down the road you and others will not have any remorse for your decision. You're taking steps in the right direction with your health and I applaud you for that. Being young and overweight is tough. I can definitely relate.
