My Only Real Reason The Truth.
cfalbro replied to lito's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you for telling. I told everyone I know. I haven't had any negativity about it, only support and it's been wonderful having all of that support. I hope you get the same response. Good luck. -

Food Ideas For Puree Diet?
cfalbro replied to Loneil's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read that anything that your family is eating is fine- just throw it in the blender. The consistency should be so that you can put it on a spoon, put it in your mouth and swallow. -
Wow!! I don't really even know what to say. I'm not trying to be negative, but I don't see how you could possibly say that 100 pounds in a year is not a success. Huh...

Anti-Inflammatory Question!
cfalbro replied to Cynesra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use an all natural (liquid) anti-inflammatory called Qi Nopal (www.nopalworks.com). I started taking it as soon as I got out of surgery and it helped me heal up quickly. I take it every day as part of my vitamin regime and it really helps. It even tastes good : ) -
Congrats on the first fill. Are you feeling any restriction? My first fill is on March 26th. I'm looking forward to it.

I was told no straws and when I just went in for my 2 week follow up my doctor actually asked if I've been following his orders. I don't use a straw because I was told not to. I don't want to do ANYTHING to screw this up LOL.

Support From You Signifigant Other?
cfalbro replied to MummyMeagan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry to hear about your husband : ( That's not cool. My husband has been a rock for me. He wants to loose about 20 pounds, so he's been doing the same things as me and been successful in his own weight loss journey. I hope things turn around for you. -
Help!! Severe Constipation...
cfalbro replied to ducker2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is also a nice "cleanse" product on the market that I take every day, it's just a fiber, really but it works wonders!!! I love it. You can go HERE and find it under "products">> "nutritional products">> and it's called "Q Daily Cleanse". When I was having this problem and called my doctor he told me to take fiber and this is my go-to product. -

I had my first "mushy" dinner last night. It was amazing. I had some pureed chicken (pureed with some mild salsa, cheese and broth) some mashed potatoes, some apple sauce with cinnamon and some cottage cheese!!! It was only about a spoon full of each but it was so good! I used a saucer size plate and my hubby joked about how from now on it's kid size plates and cups for me LOL.

I just started mushie foods yesterday. So far today: Breakfast- Smoothie Lunch- 2 TBS. Pureed chicken (with a little salsa and cheese) 2 TBS. Mashed potatoes (mashed with fat free yogurt ranch dressing) 1 TBS. Cottage cheese 1 TBS. Apple sauce (with cinnamon of course)

I can only offer the same advice as everyone else. The heating pad worked well for me in the beginning (it even made my tummy feel better) but after a few days it didn't help much. Somewhere I read to lay on your left side. I know this is VERY difficult for most people, but if you can do it, I found that it actually helped.

My incisions are definitely there, one is pretty big, it's where the port is and the other 4 are fairly small. They're higher up than I expected, sort of closer to my breasts than my waist. I'm not at all worried about them though... I can't ever picture myself in a bikini LOL not even at my 135 goal weight LOL

How Much Weight Did You Loose At 6 Months?
cfalbro replied to Marla290's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for posting this thread. I know that we're all very different and that we will all have different stories, but it has been nice to see that SO many people have had success... and to me ANY weight loss is success. I just keep reminding myself that if I take the slow and steady path I won't end up with a bunch of loose skin hanging on me. I know that is a petty thing to think about but I do want feel good as well as look good : )) -
Yes! I wish I would have been warned how much pain I would be in after surgery. I woke up and started vomiting and did that all through the night. My stomach hurt SO bad I couldn't believe it and even told my husband at one point that I would rather just be FAT!!! It hurt until the 3rd day and I stayed pretty doped up on my pain meds but I was still very uncomfortable. At midnight on the 3rd day I woke up and felt pretty good and have just been getting better ever since. I'm 8 days out now and I can do every thing that I could do before and I don't have any pain. I regretted it that very first day, but it has been SO worth it since then and I know that the weeks/months/years to come will be well worth that little bit of suffering... just would have been nice to know.

Thank you so much for the great suggestions. I'm the same way, NEVER used salsa, didn't even like it. The day before it was time for my mushies I went to shop for what I would need and saw some fresh salsa and my mouth started watering LOL. It's pretty dang tastey.
