Help Will They Know If I Ate Something?!??
throughthelookingglass replied to YumiiShyy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pre op diet is so strick so as to reduce fluid and fat off of your liver as they have to lift it when they are trying to get at the stomach. Only if you have not followed the whole way through like someone my doc operated on will the liver be bulky and tear. If you've been good all way through you will be fine. I thought my money wasn't coming through an my surg would be cancelled again as day before surg. So thought I'm having dinner chicken roast veg gravy. Then I ended up sorting money an had anyway. Point being I done all the hard work. Lost ten kg before the liver was obviously a it should be had the surg he wouldn't have done it otherwise. So relax. -

I have ph consult with my dietician. He told me 7-9 days could start having yoghurt and some purees. So I did that about day five as was getting hungry he had told me this meant the aweeling had gone down also looked at nxt phase which was more of the same so I had a few different things. Well we had our nxt session and he's oh no you shouldn't have done that but I try stuff and see how it sits then go from there. He has really stressed me out I did what he said then he's saying the opposite and that wen he head people like me eating things they shouldn't. So I'm omg have I damaged something. I've had no inclination to vomit. And he also 1/2 cup measures only. I didn't do that either. So now I'm thinking what if I stretched the pouch. Oh god this can be hard. I mean it's not like u can have a huge amount. I don't know. Oh I had some baby food also thinking well mashed pureed good portion size he didn't like that either grr -

Don't worry my money still hadn't come through by 2 days before so figure would be canxelled for the second time so I thought might as well have dinner. Had chicken roast vege gravy. The point of the diet is to ewduce fat an Floyd from the liver so that would have already happened from your 2 weeks pre op diet. Good luck. -

Hi Karla I've had the same issues with shoulder tip pain. They blow your stomach up with gas so they can see better in your tummy for surgery. And this escapes upward through your body until all has escaped. I thought would've been done in couple of days but I tell you I'm only just feeling no pain 9 days later. Ouchy and it came And went all the time I was thinking I'd hurt or strained my shoulder somehow as does hurt sometimes. But I'm pretty sure was that blasted gas. -
Pre Op Weight Loss
throughthelookingglass replied to Mara005's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Mara my dr didn't give a specific weight loss amount but I lost 10kg. The idea he said was to reduce fluid and fat off the liver so they can lift it during surgery without it breaking or tearing. -

throughthelookingglass replied to rairai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Miss manders I was under the impression wen getting hungry means the swelling near band going down and u can start introducing pureed foods in day 7 an already started couldn't wait took it real easy st first yoghurt mash potato an gravy really runny now have g pured spaghetti some baby foods just for portion control and consistency of food. I have felt everything has gone down ok no vomiting etc I've been lucky. -
8 Days Post Op... Feeling Very Hungry!
throughthelookingglass replied to rairai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey nechama22 I'm supposed to have three protein shakes as they aid healing but I'm starting to have some purred meat as in spaghetti and I've even grabbed some baby food in squeeze tubes so as to get the right consistency at the moment. I've had banana an custard mashed and some cottage cheese. But yeah like you say not long after and hungry again. But it's nice to have some semi normal food again!!! -

That's awesome it was a help he was very adamant about taking it slow and steady. That diet sure is a killer but dont worry won't be long and you can have something more resembling normal food lol well the purred/mashed version off anyway. I Havnt been all that hungry as yet. A little today so he said that will be the swelling going down which is good can move up to yoghurt and some purred something lol -

March Bandsters!
throughthelookingglass replied to princess77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietician explained straight after surgery it's really important to have only fluids as the swelling around the band leaves only a small pin hole for fluids to run through until the swelling subsides. And the the band has had a flap of skin of the stomach wall sewn across to anchor it down. These stitches need approx a month to cement in. So imperative that eat correctly so as not to cause vomiting etc no heavy lifting no drinking as hits u like a hammer an wen drop dead drunk u might bust urs stitches vomiting. He told me one woman was told by her dr she could have chicken!! Which of course couldn't get through so she had violent vomiting an needed surgery to 1 reinsert the band that became unloaded an reanchor it down. Far out. He said even a small piece herb or lump in soup can do it arrgghh so fluids for me lol -
