I have just started working out at the gym...I do strength training on the machines and started out at 10 minutes on the treadmill and have worked up to 30 minutes this morning. My pace isn't fast...but it is more steady at 2.5 speed (if that means anything to anyone)...anyhow no matter how long or little I am on the treadmill...when I get off...and start walking to the locker room I get light headed and dizzy...should I be concerned or is this normal? Never really felt this before....I have average blood pressure when I get checked. It runs about 90 over something...can't remember the second number.

Light Headed And Dizzy After Treadmill...anyone Else?
dhales replied to dhales's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks everyone for their input. I actually started to drink a whole bottle water on my way to the gym now and have one with me as I work out. I also now skip the treadmill and hop on the stationery rowing machine...I burn more calories in less time and I don't fee bad afterwards. -

Light Headed And Dizzy After Treadmill...anyone Else?
dhales replied to dhales's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thank you ladies...my family doc encouraged me to exercise and has never said anything about my low blood pressure....the most I ever got from it was the nurse always saying "You are really relaxed huh?"...no one ever said it was low. I will call their office to make sure. I eat peanuts on my way to workout and stopped Protein shakes in the AM because my weight stalled. I may go back to shakes since i am not exercising and could use more protein. Thanks! -
What Do You Wish You'd Known?
dhales replied to sissy12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had known that the big dose of antibiotics given during surgery can give some people a yeast infection on the skin...I had one on my tummy....thought I was allergic to the meds..turned out to be a yeast infection. I was told this was common...after the fact. Go figure! I wish I hadn't gone out and bought a lot of liquid phase foods before surgery...I wasted a lot of money and didn't really use most of it...so buy enough to get you through the first week...keeping in mind that you are not going to be eating/drinking much your first few days. -

LMBO- wondered why you called me "aspiring"...then saw under my name "aspiring evangelist"....I never noticed that before. I guess it has to do with the amount of posts you make...which translates into...I am a stalker that has no life! -
Alright Alright, Sexual Intercourse???
dhales replied to Tricia39's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said that I could become intimate as soon as I wanted to....just have hubby be careful with your tummy. It will give you an opportunity to become creative on positions that do not put weight on your tummy. -
What Does It Feel Like To Eat Solids?
dhales replied to Sombra1718's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember being so scared when I progressed to solids. My doc gave me a list of things that i could have as I progressed and I was excited to see that cherrios was on the list. So that was my first solid meal post-op and it took me forever to eat a 1/4 cup. Everyone is right - you will no longer get that Thanksgiving fullness...and honestly I don't miss it. I still measure my food to be on the safe side and only measure 4 ounces...I don't always finish the 4 ounces...but if I do and still feel hungry...I always ask myself "am I really hungry or is this head hunger" and honestly every time it was head hunger. I would then do something to distract myself...hot showers always seem to get my mind off of it. -
The Liver Has To Be Held By Surgical Instruments During Surgery (What ???)

Yep...they told me about it too...that's why it was so important not to cheat on the Pre-op diet. -
How Did You Feel After Surgery
dhales replied to Lovemythreems's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was miserable the day of and in pain. I can't imagine having to go somewhere afterwards to sit. Plus I still kind of felt out of from the anesthesia. -
I don't have little ones anymore...but I do experience the same thing everyday. I made dinner for my family every day when I was on liquids and mushies. It was hard making them something yummy while I sipped my broth! I noticed that I started making them more rich foods that I would have wanted and kind of pushing all kinds of yummy things on them. I guess I was living vicariously through them...lol To which my husband liked at first...before he stepped on the scale himself. He gained 10 pounds during this phase of my cooking. I now cook mostly Proteins for dinner and basically make things that I can eat as well. Then I don't feel so deprived. With some exceptions. For instance...I made my family spaghetti and meatballs. I made the meatballs out of lean beef and used low fat spaghetti sauce. So i enjoyed 4 oz. of meatballs while my family ate the full meal. My favorite has become mini meat loafs in a muffin tin. I can have one of those and a deviled egg and that equals 4 oz. My family loves that I just got more creative with my dishes. I guess what I am trying to say is that you have to push on...you can't always eat everything your little ones are eating. However you can adapt most meals to include you as well. I know this liquid stage will be brutal...but remember that it is not forever and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You can't do anything about the past...but make a resolution to yourself to stick with the diet your surgeon prescribed. Eating solids or too much before your internal sutures are healed around your band could cause a tear in your stomach or may cause your little pouch to stretch. There is nothing out there that tastes good enough to put your health i jeopardy....you can do this. It will get easier when you move onto more filling foods and get fills... If all else fails...do what I did when the hunger started to win...I would hop on here and read posts...and look at before and after pics to stay motivated.

I can't speak for you...but for me. I wasn't sure if it was coming off the meds or coming off the food (aka my bad habits). I always have the munchies...when I am home. Weekends are brutal. I try to stay active by running errands...doing projects....etc. Anything except hanging around the house. I know eventually I will have to face my bad habits...but I just don't feel strong enough yet. It's worse when no one is home...I do the same thing....check out the cupboard, fridge, freezer...etc. I am not sure about your case...but for me I am detoxing on food...and kind of look at it like a drug as well.

Something silly that i noticed in the mirror...is that i have collar bones after all!!!
-
I have to say that before surgery I wore a size 18/20...sometimes 22 depending on the clothing. I had a pair of size 14 jeans in my closet from years ago... After several closet clean outs...I kept them hoping that one day I could get back in them. And guess what!!!! I tried them on this morning and they fit....no muffin top!!!! I may be losing kind of slow...but the inches must be shifting around! I don't know about you all...but I am starting to see a pattern. I will stay the same weight for 1-2 weeks...then loose a couple pounds all at once...then the same for another 1-2 weeks. Anyone else?

I think your Aunt Flo must have moved in at my house! My periods are the opposite! My system must have been in shock from the healing and they are lasting longer and more frequent. So much so that I went to the doc to get checked out. I am healthy...but my body is just stressed right now. go figure!

Slow Weight Lose....
dhales replied to baparrett70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not sure what your starting weight is....but if you have more to loose...you usually loose quicker your first few months. My weight loss seems to stall for about two weeks and then I loose a couple of pounds. I am trying to eliminate my shakes and concentrate more on actual Protein like chicken, tuna...etc. I hope that helps me a little. -
LOVE LOVE LOVE the SF Hawaiian Punch powder flavors....they sell them near the crystal lights. I have a major sweet tooth and I hate water. These cure both issues.

Okay...this is a very embarrassing question...but I am curious none the less. Joking around with my husband the other night. He asked why I was tired...I said its probably because I didn't get all of my protein in for the day. To which he responded "I've got your protein"....typical guy. After I chuckled a little...I got to thinking. Hmmm...it is protein...so if you engage in....uhm...oral. Does anyone know how much protein that could be? I think I'm onto something here. It could be a win win for both me and hubby...lol

yikes...please don't tell my DH that.... I can just see it now..."honey...I know you feel bad...but if it'll make you feel better...I don't mind taking one for the team"....lol
