I was banded yesterday as well. The gas pains outweighed the incision pains for me. I was pretty miserable. My surgery was completed about 1pm and I finally started to get rid of the pain around 8-9'ish. I have a weird sensation in my chest (maybe more gas) but I wouldn't classify it as pain. I feel pretty okay this morning.

Okay guys - I guess it is official. I got the call from the surgery center yesterday afternoon to set my surgery time today at 9am. But now I have a cold...of all days. I hope it doesn't delay the surgery I will update you all when I am on the other side

No gas this morning...knock on wood. It appears to just have been the first 5 hours after surgery. I took one Gas X....however I think the heating pad gave me the most relief. Incisions and tummy feel great. I'm not even hungry at this point. I had a little broth last night and a sugar free popsicle. BTW - if you haven't had surgery yet...be sure to get those popsicles. It was hard to sip on Water to satisfy my dry mouth...but that popsicle was heaven sent. PS = I was 188 yesterday before surgery and this morning when I weighed I was 190...all those fluids they fill you up with...my wedding ring was even tight this morning. Hopefully I can get all that extra Fluid flushed soon.

I am officially banded! The Gas pains were tough and a little on the unbearble side immediately after. But they gave me another dose of pain meds before I left the Surgery Center and I was knocked out until a little bit ago. I do have to say that if not for the heating pad...I would have been so miserable. But all in all...a good day and the surgery went seamless.

How Do You Deal With Emotional Eating
dhales replied to irisheyesrsmylng's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a huge emotional eater as well. I haven't had the surgery yet...but during this pre-op diet I have had this issue. Every time I want something extra...I ask myself "am I really hungry" most of the time the answer is no. If the answer is no...then I try to do something to keep my mind off of it. I have restained my kitchen cabinets last weekend and took my daughter to an event this weekend and volunteered just so I wasn't just sitting there. When I am watching TV, doing homework or just chilling are times that I realized I eat when I shouldn't. It's hard...but I find as long as I stay busy...I can power through a weak moment. -
Prescription Appetite Supressant And Band
dhales replied to shues138's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
that is one of my fears. I have tried to take Apidex before and hated the way it made me feel. I would go a mile a minuted during the day and I would crash in the evenings. My kids hated me on it as well...boy was I crabby. -
Thanks Glove...Have you decided if you will get banded or not? Or still debating? I know it is a hard decision. All day I have had that....do I really want to do this feeling. But I know it is just jitters. I have updated my will and wrote down who my life insurance policies are with. My husband would never be able to figure it out....lol I left for the weekend to attend an event for my daughter and you would have thought the world ended. The dogs were fed sporadically when someone remembered, my husband forgot to pack his lunch for work and complained of a headache all day. I can't wait to see how they will react this week when I am kicking up my heels in "recovery"...boy am I going ti milk it.

Hey there - I bought liquid vitamins from the Vitamin Store....it was about $10. My doc asked that we not take herbal supplements and certain vitamins before surgery as they said the Anesthesia doesn't like certain vitamins apparently. So just to be safe...I haven't taken my liquid vitamins yet...because I haven't had time to check to see if those particular vitamins are in it. I will just start after surgery. You may want to double check as well. They also said no NSAid's like Ibuprofen or Aleve...etc as that thins the blood.

Laundry Detergent...I have never been sensitive. But I had this problem and I switched to a hypo allergenic detergent and I got better. I think as we age so to some of our sensitivities. Also - high sugar...when my diabetes was out of control I had to deal with it.

Does Anyone Know If Lap Band Surgery Is Tax Deductable?
dhales replied to Wonderwoman1993's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have heard that major medical expenses are indeed tax deductible. How much you can deduct will depend...my Doctor's office actually mentioned it. -
No - tomorrow...is yours April 17th?

Me too Boniluu! I have my surgery on Tuesday....so excited.

Congratulations!!!

My surgery is on Tuesday as well! I just bought all of my stuff to. I can't believe it is finally gonna happen!

Anissa - it may be quicker than you expect with True Results. I am going through the one in Houston. I am also doing there Hernia plan which means they will submit part of the surgery through your insurance leaving $5500 out of pocket. They offer financing for that as well. I had an EGD to determine if I even had a hernia and I did. I was scheduled 2 weeks after that. It was postponed...but only because when they did the EGD they tested me for other stuff too and one of them came back positive for H.Pylori...so I had to go through 2 weeks of antibiotics to get rid of it. I am being banded this Tuesday. So exciting...

My doctor's office provided a book that had some tips and one of them was that when flying you may be tighter due to the expansion of the air bubbles in your band. They say they try to make sure that there are no bubbles but sometimes they work their way in.

I'm game for starting up our own little group. I will check out that site as well.

I wonder if you can go to another doctor's support group...mind doesn't have one...they cancelled it because it wasn't very popular...so they say. I would love to find out...it would be cool to have a local band buddy

Solids Week Out From Surgery
dhales replied to BandedNeakyMinx12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc is a little different in that I am on clears for 48 hours and then full liquids until my first pre-op at day 9. If all is okay they put you on solids on day 10. First fill is at 3 weeks. -
Hey Cheryldee...I actually live in Porter...but work in The Woodlands. Do you know of any support groups around?
-
Small world. My husband is a Willis boy. I think they are having some sort of reunion in May for those that went to Willis High School. I am going through True Results in Houston....but the surgeon is actually on 242 and hwy45. Wilkenfeld.

I haven't had the band yet...but recall the exact words when I mentioned to my father that I am getting the surgery...He said "why don't you just diet and exercise and take it serious this time"...as if I haven't tried that for the past 20 years....it hurts...but ultimately this is for you and you alone. Thank goodness my husband is more supportive about it.
