  1. I had my surgery at newton wellesley as well, they are awesome. I have my 3 month post op checkup Friday, I'm excited for my progress so far. I started at 248 and am currently at 201. Hoping to be in one-derland by my appointment!! Haven't seen it in 10 years!! I just requested to join the Facebook page as well???? Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  2. I got my period the day of surgery, I told the nurses in preop and they gave me underwear and a pad to put on. I got a catheter so it was a little awkward and uncomfortable after I woke up. But all the nurses where so nice and supportive, telling me it's actually pretty common, even people who weren't due for it will get it with the stress of the surgery. Don't worry, you'll be fine and get thru it no problem! Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  3. My daughter was 25lbs and I did my best not to lift her for 2 weeks, but it was sometimes unavoidable. After 2 weeks I did it all the time and never had a problem even though my Dr has the 4 week no lifting restrictions as well. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  4. I was sleeved 7/18. So far down 40lbs exactly. Started at 248 and am 208 today, can't wait to get to one-derland! Congrats to all those who already have! I haven't had any trouble eating anything yet, but I'm mainly sticking to the same things everyday, chicken, fish, deli meat, eggs, protein shakes and string cheese, which all are going down fine. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well, what are you all eating?? Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  5. I was sleeved 7/18 at newton wellsley, they have free support groups several times a month, it's listed on their website. I am 99% sure anyone can attend, you don't have to have had your surgery there. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  6. I was sleeved July 18th and also feel full after about 2 oz as well Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  7. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks for sharing. So glad the scale move! What type of exercise are you doing? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I've been changing it up everyday, varying between walking, swimming, hiking, elliptical and Zumba mainly. I have noticed I feel winded/tired easier than before, but I know it's because I'm still recovering, so I'm trying to not push myself too hard. I also use myfitnesspal and it yells at me everyday because I haven't eaten more than 500 calories a day. But it's impossible to eat more with such a restricted diet, I have my diet advancement class the 18th, looking forward to be able to eat more foods! Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  8. My stall started at 2 weeks post op and lasted a week and 5 days! The scale didn't move an inch. I was following my diet and exercising. Then this morning, down a pound and a half! I've heard once the first stall is over you start losing pretty regularly til the next one at 2-3 months out. I'm hoping that's true! What am I doing wrong?

I had my surgery the same day as you, our stats are almost exactly the same, lost 20 pre-op, then lost 10 the first 2 weeks and now I haven't lost anything in a week, I have heard that this is normal though and the scale will start moving again. I have been walking and swimming, getting in all my liquids. I do not have a Protein goal yet, but I have been trying to get in as much as i can. I am on pureed/mushies still. 12. Just checking in, I'll be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I've also hit the dreaded stall, the scale hasn't moved for a week now! It's funny because I can't fathom how that's possible with the little amount I'm eating, plus walking/swimming daily. I know it'll start moving again, just have to be patient! Eating and getting my liquids is so much easier now, also my incision pain is completely gone. How's everyone else doing? Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

    Diarrhea

I had diarrhea at about a week out, it lasted 3 days then I couldn't go again for a week!!! I'm 3 weeks out now and am still not regular. My surgeon said it's normal because our bodies are trying to figure out what's going on, and not much food in equals not much out, same for liquids in, liquids out! Surgery Date: 07/25

I felt the same thing the first few days I was home, I'm 10 days post op now and its gone away. Was really weird, I actually asked my surgeon if it was normal and he said yes, just keep drinking...lol Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  15. I kept her at my parents a full week, I'm glad I did too because she had an awesome time and it gave me some time to recover. Everyday gets easier, she's been home since Sunday, I'm going to admit, I've had to pick her up a few times, but we bought a cute little step stool, so she can climb on her changing table and get up to wash her hands on her own. Otherwise I sit on the floor to help her get dressed, the hardest part is her hitting the incisions, luckily they don't really hurt anymore, and she is more aware of them now, she asks every morning if I still have my booboo's and lifts up my shirt..lol. But I think it would have been really hard the first few days home from the hospital. She is so dependant and attached to me, she wants mommy to help her with everything, definitely glad I had that extra time to heal. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

    2nd week post op

I am 10 days post op and also on mushies/pureed. I have to eat 6 -2oz "meals" a day and sip Water the rest of the day. For the first month post op I have no Protein or calorie requirements for my first month, and our water goal is at least 32oz a day. My 2oz meals are a variety of things, Protein shakes, soup/broth, cottage cheese, yogurt, mashed avocado or banana, v8, a spoonful of potent butter, humus, refried Beans or baby food. 17. Just a little update, I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow. Kinda excited to see how I'm doing. In terms of my recovery I'm 10 days post op, most of my pain is completely gone, eating well on mushies, was really nauseated yesterday but have not thrown up at all yet. I was really constipated, but today have had a few boughts of diarrhea, which believe it or not actually made me feel a lot better, just have to make sure I drink some extra Water because of it. A few of my steri strips fell off ( but I have this awful glue residue, any ideas how to get it off?)but the incisions look great, seem to be healing well. How's everyone else doing? Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App Oh ya, and I can finally sleep pretty good on my side again! Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  18. Hi there! I was same day as you. Also doing very well. Swallowing so much easier, slept on side yesterday, also started mushies today, have not yet thrown up! Sounds like we're both doing pretty well. The one thing is that I will probably miss my liquid target today. Given the no drinking before and after eating I fell behind on my first day of mushies. Will try harder tomorrow! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm having trouble with my water intake today too. It was high 90s here and I just had no desire to drink, but tomorrow I'll be back at it. Today was also hard for me because my 2 year old daughter is finally home from my parents. But boy did I forget how much work she is! I am exhausted and I took a two hour nap with her this afternoon! Not picking her up is proving to be a huge challenge, but I'm trying!! And man did she accidently hit me in my incisions several times today (i went over a hundred times she needs to be careful of mommies booboo's, but she is 2 after all..lol) and boy they are sore this evening, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit easier! Glad to hear you are doing well too! Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

    FMLA and/or STD?

Ohhhh...I have a print out of my STD plan. If it's simply cosmetic they will not cover it, but if it's for a medical reason (chaffing, skin breakdown, rashes, sores, etc) they will. I'd call them and ask your specific plan details Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

Asking Dr for more pain meds?

I would also call you surgeon about that pain, I don't think it's normal. I had my band to sleeve revision last Monday and stopped my pain meds wed. I only take one Tylenol at night to help me sleep(I'm a side sleeper and the port incision hurts when I'm on my side). But on my discharge instructions it says on the front in bold letters under the when to call us section "very bad pain not relieved by your pain medicine " Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

  22. Good luck to everyone having surgery today! I still can't believe it's been a week already. Feeling great, no pain, just a little soreness at my incisions. Haven't thrown up anything yet and on mushies which I am tolerating well so far! How's everyone else doing? Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

    Waking up after surgery

I had my band to sleeve revision Monday, I woke up in recovery really groggy and tired. The only things I really remember was the nurse telling me the took the band out and I was successfully sleeve (the surgeon want 100% if he could till he got in there because of possible scar tissue) and she asked if I had any pain, I shook my head no and fell back asleep. The next thing I knew I was woken up and being told I was being brought to my room. At that point I was more aware. My throat was dry, I had an IV in, no drain, and I did have a catheter (which I hated, they took it out the next morning), and I had compression booties on. It wasn't bad at all, good luck you will do fine!! Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
  25. It's funny I had my surgery Monday, I wore a comfy outfit there, which I then used to come home, the rest of the time I was in a hospital gown. I wasn't allowed to shower until I got home, so no shampoo or body wash for me. I don't think you'd need the baby spoons because all I was allowed was liquid while in there. Definitely didn't care about makeup..lol. I was fine with no heading pad or gas x till I got home. They have you on pain meds and at least for me the gas wasn't too bad until I got home anyways. I brought my license and insurance card, but they never asked for them, so my husband took them home. All I really brought was a small bag with my toothbrush, biotene, hair brush, cell and charger, and a spare pair of undies(you never know..lol) and pads because my lovely friend showed up that morning.
