I just got back from seeing my excercise and dietician today.. Since my surgery on Feb 8th I have lost 26 pounds.. i was eating between 400 -600 cal per day, that includes the two Protein shakes.. My dietician said she would like me to eat between 700 - 900 cal per day.. Getting over 60 grams of protein is really important they say and drinking more then 64 oz is too.. I start reg food today ( just had 2 oz of roasted chicken and a 1/2 cup of salad, which is the first time I've had 3/4 cup of food, I've been staying at 1/2 cup of food per meal ) I just haven't figured out how to measure out 1/4 cup of salad since it's comes out to about 3 leaves, lol!! think I will chop up smaller.. Anyway, My excercise guy said, that when we excercise and do the same thing it bores our body and we don't lose wt.. he said change up it good.. Right now that's hard for me, because I broke my foot in Nov and it's still not fully healed, but I can walk so walking is what I do. Have you called you dr. and spoken to anyone that can help you?? Hang in there!!

Sandy, I was banded on Feb 8th and didn't tell a soul but my husband.. I just told my mother 2 wks ago and she is the only other person i told.. My dr. told me to eat between 1/4 a cup to 1 cup per meal since I don't have a fill yet.. I've seemed to be doing ok on 1/2 cup of food per meal.. The 1/2 cup is working for me without a fill in me.. I don't really get hungry and if I do, drinking something gets rid of it.. My dr. seems to be fine with the 1/2 cup per serving.. I have around 90 g of protein per day and I think that's why I'm really not hungry between meals, plus I have something every 2 hours with the last meal at 6pm..

Am I Eating Too Much?

I lost more wt not exercising then I have exercising, but I must say since exercising I feel so much better.. Wishing you all the best... and Thanks!! -
My dr told me No gummies because they don't absorb the same as reg vits.. He said centrum chewables and calicum Citrate chewables, not calicum carbonate. He also said to split them up and take them with each meal.. The calicum citrate is 1000mg per day.. Also the calicum citrate can only be absorb 500-600mg at a time so that's why you have to split them up...

Am I Eating Too Much?
hedder14 replied to JennyBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 8th of Feb 12.. From day of sugery I have lost 25 lbs, from my heaviest I have lost 39 lbs.. I stuck right now, but I'm sure that is only temp.. I lost a lot fast and I think now my body is going into the normal mode, which I believe is only 1/2 lb to 1 lb per week, but we will see.. -
I know the feeling.. I had surgery on Feb 8th and wt came off fast since then, but this last week I've not moved for 6 days now.. I see the dietitican on the 15th so hopefully we can figure something out.. I'm doing everything they have told me, have not gone off track once, getting excercise in, so it is frustratng but I know it will change at some point...

I don't know what the dr. told you but since I haven't had a fill yet, I was told 1/4 cup to 1 cup per meal.. Meals are 3 times a day, with two Protein shakes. I've been having 1/2 cup per meal, Breakfast is just a scrambled egg.. I try and having something every two hours, so I start the day with decaf tea, then at 10 I have breakfast, 12 Protein shake, then 2 lunch, 4 protein shake and 6 dinner.. All the rest of the times I drink keeping in mind the 30/30 rule.. It's worked for me.. I always try and do 1/4 cup protein with 1/4 cup veggies per meal except breakfast.. -
Do You Like The Taste Of Food More Or Less Since Your Surgery?
hedder14 replied to Stephaniew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my tastes haven't changed but i've noticed i'm more sensitive to smells... I have a hard time with very powerful smells like garlic, onions, etc.. I love eating them but I can get put off now by strong food smells which never happened before surgery.. Right now I've not gotten in any fruit, been sticking with protein and veggies.. I eat only 3 meals a day and can't seem to get my fruit in.. See the dietitican soon so hopefully she will give me some ideas how to get it in.. -

Serving Size Post-Op
hedder14 replied to MissManders's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told since I haven't had a fill yet, that I could eat anywhere from 1/4 cup to 1 cup per meal.. I seem to be holding to 1/2cup. I get my 1/4 measure out and put my protein in dump it in my bowl or plate then my veggie so I have my 1/2. If I have stew or soup ( mushed still in that stage, then I just message out 1/2cup)... I keep it to items that are easy to message. Like tuna, salmon, chicken ( canned ) stews, soups, yogurt, etc.. -

Concerned About Working Out
hedder14 replied to Amyc220's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on the 8th of Feb and still haven't been cleared to do anything other then walking. THey still won't even let me lift more then 10 lbs... -
I was on a 14 day liquid diet ( which they provided for me ) prior to sugery and 10 liquid after.. Now I am on the mushy stage.. I've been on that since the 19th of Feb and will see my dietican on the 15th of March and see where I go from there.. They told me I can eat what ever I really wanted on the mushy stage as long as it can be blended, mashed, crushed or chewed into a mushy stage...

Help!! Severe Constipation...
hedder14 replied to ducker2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used benefiber and it did the same to me.. I now take fiberchoice chewables, I take 1 a day instead of the standard 2 ( which I would take the 2 until things are more reg ). I take the 1 every other day if I get bloated.. -
Did U Tell Or Not? If Not..what Was Your Story?
hedder14 replied to iriegirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I told no one about any part of it, but my hubby... After my surgery and about 2 wks ago I told my mother.. My mother is very opinioniated and I just didn't want to get upset or in a fight with her over it.. I still haven't told my daughter yet.. She is expecting her second baby in Aug and I didn't want to add any stress to her. I don't plan on telling her, I want to surprise her when I go visit when the baby is born.. We skype all the time, so she might say something about my wt on one of skype days, but if not she will find out when I see her then I will tell her everything... I don't plan on telling anyone else... -
I Have Failed My Band And My Band Has Failed Me
hedder14 replied to al0vely's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dr. told me to always take 15 to 20 bites with everything I put in my mouth. It has worked for me.. I'm newly banded, but even in the mushy stage I do it. I would also feel if I 'm not satisfied with the amount I'm suppose to eat, then something needs to be done. -
I was given a list of things I could it on my liquid diet.. They were, sugar free puddings and jello, cream of wheat ( with added milk or water just so it pourable ), protein shakes, crystal light, tomato soup, cream of chicken, or any creamed soups that has water added just so it's runner then usual. I could not eat mashed potatoes until now, which is I'm on the mushy stage now, but still haven't eaten any. Trying to stay away from high carb foods, so potatoes ( unless they are in a soup, like veggie beef soup then I will ) are out for me..

I was told by my dr. that I will be on 2 protein shakes the rest of my life.. He said I will eat 3 meals a day and two protein shakes a day.. I'm still on the mushy stage, but I eat a lot of fish and get on average around 90 grams of protein per day.. He seems to think the more protein I get the better I will be..

Have any of you not had to have a fill???? I had surgery Feb 8th and I've been eating 1/2 cup a food per meal and that seems to be working for me.. I'm not overly hungry, if I do feel a bit hungry I drink and that seems to work for me.. I've lost 23 pounds since surgery date, so I am losing wt just fine.. I was just wondering if some ppl never need to get fills??

I weigh myself every morning around the same time... I don't know if I will continue to do so after awhile, but right now it makes me feel good.

Need Help With Mushies!
hedder14 replied to lgm217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to eat cream of wheat, jello, protein shakes, etc for 10 days after surgery, but for mushy stage to eat more normal foods that can be mushed to thick mashed potato stage.. No liquids so if you have soup, stews, etc drian, but can add a little gravy to meat if need be.. I was not given a calorie count.. I have't had my first fill yet, so dr said to eat between 1/4 cup to 1 cup per meal... I find 1/2 cup seems to work for me right now.. Yes! I do get a little hungry, but I drink and that seems to help with the hungry.. -
Need Help With Mushies!
hedder14 replied to lgm217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the mushie stage myself.. I've been buy can stew, I will add veggies to it then mash it up ( Of course drain any excess liquid from it same with soup) I buy soup with meat and veggies, no rice or pasta drain and mush.. I 've gotten canned chicken chili.. I also buy roasted chicken from the store and cut up and make sure I chew well to desolve and add mushed veggies.. I eat fish, canned salmon, canned tuna, canned chicken ( not a huge fan of the canned chicken ).. I've been keeping it pretty blend, because thats how I like it, but you sure can add spice.. My nut told me to eat weight control oatmeal, but I find it increases my sugar, so I just scamble 1 egg every morning sometimes adding a veg to it.. hope this helps! good luck and let me know how you are doing, we can do it together...
