Foods Aren't Really That Hard To Eat And I'm Two Weeks Out.....
hedder14 replied to alliemichelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what worked for me was having something every two hours and not going over portion size.. So I would alternate between food and protein shakes and then stop having my last meal at 6pm and all other times I drank.. I also made sure I never went over 1/2 cup of food.. My dietician said since I didn't have a fill ( which I just got one on the 28th of March ) yet; that I could eat between 1/4 and 1 cup of food per meal, but to make sure I didn't go over the 1 cup.. I stayed with 1/2 cup and it seemed to work for me.. Of course I felt hungry at times, but I would just drink when I did and that seemed to work.. I had no problems with swallowing anything and everything went down real easier.. -

Suddenly Feeling Really Nervous
hedder14 replied to amandacoop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every dr. is different so I think all is ok on your diet.. I was told I couldn't pick up anything over 10 pounds for 2 weeks, but again every dr is different.. Are you hurting?? Do you feel like something is wrong?? If yes, then you should call your dr. If not, I would try and not pick up your 2 yr old from a standing position, do it from seating down, if possible.. If you still aren't sure, call you dr and see what they have to say.. -
First Fill Tomorrow...shrugs...do I Really Need It?
hedder14 replied to phatkatblue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 2-08-12 and just had my first fill yesterday.. My P.A said the normal fill is around 3 cc, but since I wasn't having that many problems and was losing wt and not having too much hungry inbetween times she only put in 1 1/2 cc.. You could see if they would just do a small one since you seem to be doing just fine the way you are.. I discussed not having anything done and she said that would be fine, but I choose to go ahead and have a small one because I did have day's that I seemed hungrier they others.. -
How Many Chew-Able Calcium Citirate Vitamins Do I Take A Day
hedder14 replied to Brad P's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's saying 4 tablets are 1 serving, so you would take 4 tablets to get your one serving per day.. My calicum citrate is done the same way.. Ea tablet is 250 mil. I suppose to have 1000 per day, so I take 2 at lunch and 2 at dinner... The bottle say's 4 tablets per serving, so 4 = 1 serving per day... Hope it makes sense... How may grams per day are you take take, might be easier for you that way.. -
yes!! I had mine Feb 8th

Mine was a complete waste of time. All we did was talk about Europes Health Care systems since I'm from the U. K and have lived most of my life in the U.K or Germany... I left thinking well, that was fun but complete waste of my time..

I found out the Friday before my sugery ( surgery was on a wednesday ) that my stomach has ulcers all over it.. They are tiny, but the dr. said it looked like my stomach had chicken pox.. They gave me meds to drink for 28 days and my stomach has felt a lot better since then. They said they would keep an eye out on it, but since I was having the surgery and my diet would change they weren't going to be too concerned about it..

How Much Protien For You A Day?
hedder14 replied to Journey2Healthy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I average between 80-90 grams of protein per day... I get 60 grams from my two protein shakes I have a day and the rest either comes from the fish or chicken I eat.. My dietician said that the average female should get no less then 55 grams of protein per day and men 65 per day, but the more protein you get the better.. -
So glad it's working for you..

My dr. told me to take chewable centrum and chewable calicum citrate.. Got the calicum from amazon..

Tricare Prime North/lap Band Clinic
hedder14 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in Insurance & Financing
Tricare would not approve mine until all my 6 month classes were complete.. My dr. put in the request for me at month 4 and they wouldn't approve until all 6 month classes were done... You might be lucky, I find with tricare sometimes it's just who you get.. I got approve for a the sleep study and the day it came to me having it done, tricare cancelled it. If I hadn't of called in for another reason and checked, I would have been stuck with a bill, because the hospital never got the cancellation until 3 day's after the study.. Be care!! and get refer # and ppl you are speaking too... -

hedder14 commented on sweetplowgirl35's blog entry in sweetplowgirl35's Blog
Your doing great!! I was banded on the 8th of Feb and still haven't had a fill yet.. I don't even go in for it until March 28th.. Welcome! and Congrats again on the weight loss -
My exercise consult told me to change things up when you are in a plateau. He said your body gets used to doing the same thing all the time, so change you excercise up you can even change up your food too.
-
I have tricare North and yes they do.l You usually get a 5 or 6 month referral so when those run out, you have to go back to your primiary care dr. and have then issue a new referral for another 5 to 6 months..

February Bandsters?
hedder14 replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw my dietician on Thursday of last week and got the ok to eat salads. I had surgery on the 8th of Feb and came off mushies March 16th.. all I've been eating is protein and salads since then and haven't had a problem at all.. I was never told I couldn't eat salads during all my wt lose classes, just that wouldn't be able to eat them during my mushie stage.. I was given many recipes from them and most include salads.. -
I've been told to eat 700 to 900 calories per day this includes protein shakes and to measure all foods.. I do 1/4 cup of protein or 2 oz and 1/4 cup of veggies..

February Bandsters?
hedder14 replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started solids last night.... I've been sticking to 2 oz of roast chicken and 1/4 cup of salad for now.. I get full just on that.. I've missed lunch today so I ate dinner at 5:30 pm today;eating the same thing and again I'm full.. I chew chew chew and that seems to really help, but I must say since I didn't have lunch today I ate really fast when I did it and ran into a little bit of nausea after, but that seems to be going away.. -
Yesterday I had an appt with my dietician and excercise guy and everything went well. I can finally start reg food ( Surgery was Feb 8th ). I've lost 26 pounds since my surgery, I feel great, not real hungry ( think the hungry is more from watching tv at night and seeing all those pizza ads ) eating 1/2 cup per meal.. My dietician says that I will probably need to get my first fill at the end of the month because they want me to be eating 1/4 cup per meal. ?????? If I'm losing wt on the 1/2 cup why do I need to go down to 1/4 cup??? Did any of you tell your dr. you don't want a fill?? put it off for another time??
-
She told me yesterday, that without a fill and just newly banded I could eat anywhere from 1/4 to 1 cup, but they want me to be at a 1/4 cup of food with the fill and once I've met my goal I will maintain at 1 cup... She said since I was doing so well on the 1/2 that the fill would be very very small, they just want me down to 1/4 cup so I can get to my goal wt.. I was just wondering since I seem to be losing the wt on the 1/2 just fine why I still need the fill? I get getting down to 1/4 cup but I don't want to lose the wt to fast, because I don't want to get to sick and I don't want to gain it back...

I eat something every 2 hours and that really helps.. I start when I get up and have tea, then brk at 10 ( just so I can go to 6 ). then at 12 I have a protein shake, then at 2 lunch, then protein shake at 4 , then dinner at 6. I've been told to add a little more calories to my diet, ( yes!! add calories to my diet about 100 more ) so I was thinking of a snack at around 8pm... Maybe if you did something like that the hungry wouldn't be so bad or would go away.. I do find sitting down watching Tv doesn't help with all the food ads, so now I record all shows and fast forward through the ads.. I drink drink drink the rest of the time...
