I weigh myself everyday but don't allow the scale make me mad.. I go up a pd down a pd, due to retaining water.. I take a water pill but only every other day, so some day's I'm up and some day's I'm down... As long as I am eating what I am suppose to and getting my excercise in; then I know I have done all I can and at some point the scale will show it.. Don't be discourged over 1 pd, water retension will come and go...

Why is it sometimes you can get on the treadmill and barely break a sweat and other times you get on it and you need paramedics with a defibrillator standing by??? Just an observation!!! Have a great day everyone!!

I don't eat high carb foods, the only ones I eat are in fruit and veggies ( don't eat fruit that much ).. My dietician said no carbs too... She did tell me I could eat quinea ( sp ) since I've done well with losing wt, but I choose to not do it.. I find carbs such as oatmeal, Beans, brown rice, etc all raise my blood sugar, so I don't eat it.. I know they told me no crackers, bread, pitas, wraps, etc. I was allowed to have 2 saltine crackers when I was on mushie foods, but thats it.. I still don't eat them..

That's wonderful, great job!! I hope this helps getting you to ware you want to be.. Congrats!!!

I was told to eat between 700 - 900 calories per day and eat between 1/4 to 1 cup per meal.. I've now have had two different dieticians tell me different things about the 1/4 cup servings per meal thing, so I now have decided since I keep losing on the 1/2 cup per meal I'm going to stick with 1/2cup. I count my calories everyday, my proteins ( told to have around 60 grams protein, but I eat around 85 ), and my fluid intake ( told to have no less then 64oz, but I have around 110 oz or more ). I don't count carbs, because I don't eat any carbs other then those in veggies.. I was told to stay away from bread, pasta, rice, and sugars and I have done so.. My dietician said not to worry to much about fats, because I'm eating good fats and stick with low fat proteins and veggies... I eat eggs ( only 1 egg a day if and when I eat it ) low fat or 2% cheese, chicken and fish for my protein. I don't eat red meat..

Preop Diet. No Weight Loss.
hedder14 replied to Boniluuu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a optifast diet prior to surgery and I was told I would lose between 15 - 20 pounds in those two weeks.. I only lost 8, I was so upset, but have learned everyone is different and everyones body is going to lose their wt different then others, so don't worry about it.. It will come off at some point as long as you are following their advice... Wishing you the best.. -

Trouble Getting In The Water!
hedder14 replied to Mom2many's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. has me on the 30/30 so it isn't has hard.. I wake up have a tea then wait 30 then have brk, then wait 30 and drink and drink, have my Protein shake at noon, then drink more, then wait 30 have lunch at 2 and wait again, and so on.... I have always drunk a lot, so drinking isn't hard for me but getting plain Water in is and the waiting before and after meals.. I have a problem with my airway ( smaller then most ) so I need water to help with food, but I'm learning to take smaller bites and chewing chewing chewing.. It's not always easy, but it has to be done or I choke.. I hate hate hate plain water, so I try and have it after I excercise and when my hubby and I go out we always take drinks with us, so I just take water.. rest of the time it's crytal light or decaf tea.. I do have just 8oz of reg tea in the morning, though -
I had surgery in N. Va.. The hospital was Sentera ( was called potomic ). The dr. is chief and head dr of the wt loss clinic there.. Wonderful Wonderful group of ppl. Most states side insurances will not cover surgery unless your bmi is over 35 with complications, but there is no reason not to try and see what they say.. Most first time consult with dr. are free so you can discuss then.. I would never go out of country but that's just me. I have heard of ppl going and they have had wonderful results, so I will allow them to discuss... Good luck

I had an overnight stay in the hospital to have mine done.. It was no big deal.. I went in at 8:30pm to check in they took me to a private room, hooked me up and told me to sleep.. I did find it hard to sleep but other then that it was fine.. I was released at 6am the next day...

I believe it took Tri care 8 day's to ok me... Don't worry about it, it sounds like you fit there guidelines.. If they do deny ( which i doubt by what you discribe ) you can always fight it.. Tricare requires a lot of tests before they will even look at your app, so try not get too nervous.. They do come back with an answer pretty quick... Good Luck!!!

New To The Low Carbs And Need Help, Please!!
hedder14 replied to Marla290's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't count carbs, because a lot of good foods have carbs.. I have gotten rid of bad carbs, like bread, rice, sugars, pasta.. I allow carbs that are in veggies and protein, as far as fruit, I don't really eat it because fruit is high in sugars.. I eat very very little if I do, just 2 bits or so and it's just about 1 x every few weeks or so.. 15 is low for carbs.. from what I've read on line, 100 grams or lower is good per day is good.. -
February Bandsters?
hedder14 replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everybody is different.. When I was on the 2 wk liquid diet I was told the average wt loss was, 15-20 pounds, I only lost 8.. It's different for everyone.. If you keep doing what you are, go get your fill you will lose. I eat no carbs, no sugars, no bread, no pasta, no rice and that's why I think I've been able to lose.. THose things were very high on my list of food I would eat before surgery, now I don't go anywhere near them.. I really don't even eat fruit due to the sugar content in them, now this is just me.. If I do eat fruit it's only in the morning and take about two bits and don't eat anymore.. IT's working for me, but it might not for you.. YOu have to play around and see what works for you.. -

Anyone Heard Of A Maintaince Fee?
hedder14 replied to NCHope's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some insurances don't cover all of what you need. My insurance gave me a list of what they will cover and what they will not. They covered all but 1,500. That I had to come up with myself. All insurances are not the same -
Anyone Heard Of A Maintaince Fee?
hedder14 replied to NCHope's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I paid 250 for my first meeting with dr. dietician and excercise persons so they could eval me.. Then I had to pay 50 for each nut class I had and paid for other things as well. Like 300 for the diet plan for my liquid diet etc.. I tri care prime, but they don't cover it 100%.. -
Mine told me, that they want me to end up just having 1 protein shake a day... Since it is hard to stay low on calories and try and get 80 to 90 grams of proteiin, so the 1 shake is fine.. I average between 600 to 700 calories now and that's with 2 protein shakes, so for now it's fine, but once I get to my green zone then I will be going down to 1 shake a day..

Foods Aren't Really That Hard To Eat And I'm Two Weeks Out.....
hedder14 replied to alliemichelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told also by my dietician, NO bread, pasta, rice and sugars. I have kept to that and I've lost a total of 45 pounds since nov and a total of 31 pounds since feb.. It's not easier at all, but it's so worth it to me.. I just tell ppl I'm allergic to the stuff, which to me I am, LOL!! -
Foods Aren't Really That Hard To Eat And I'm Two Weeks Out.....
hedder14 replied to alliemichelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
highland is so correct... You have to give your stomach and stitches time to heal, that's why we go on the liquids then the mushies.. It takes about 6 weeks for scar tissue to develope and that's what they are waiting for, then you move to reg food.. Also, most ppl will not feel like anything has changed that much until they get their first fill. You have to start measuring and changing eating habits even before your first fill. You can't eat the same things just smaller portions and think your wt will come off. It's a life change!! The band can't change your food choices it there to help with hunger. Helps you eat less and helps hunger between meals, that's it.. Food choices are yours and yours alone.. -
Any Luck With Saltine Crackers
hedder14 replied to Kristie_melvin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dietician said I could have just 2 saltine crackers after I go into the mushy stage.. I had no problems with them once I entered the mushy stage..
