I agree Michelle - giving yourself another identity here to avoid being flamed/attacked by someone is one thing, and I completely understand anyone doing this - it is very upsetting and debilitating to be attacked on this forum, where we have become used to such warmth and support...I know I wasn't directly involved, but I was pretty upset all last week about this too.... -
I know there is going to be a Bandster Bash in Las Vegas later this year, and I would dearly love to go but tragically it would cost me close to $1000 to get there, not including hotel/car rental! There are tons of cheap flights from Dublin to New York or Boston or anywhere on the east coast and I'm wondering if there's anyone who'd like to meet me there!!??!! I am prepared to go 5,000 miles to meet bandedkind!!! Anyone interested??? I don't mind when - preferably September or even the summer....!
-
I am invited to a party on Friday night - in a posh hotel! And staying overnight! And for once, I have accepted - 80lbs ago, I would have refused to go, making up some excuse as I had absolutely no confidence....and in the unlikely event I would attend, I was forced to wear something "flowing" and black, probably with some sparkly beads on it, that a 70 year old woman would find ageing!!! So, I now can go into Principles (www.principles.co.uk), my favourite shop from fifteen years ago, when I was last slim, and wear something glam and funky! I enlose pic of top I bought in UK size 20!!! (USA size 18!) It's their largest size but hey, I'm in the store!!! Whatcha think???

Oh and Michelle, the Madison my hubby stayed in was in Morristown NJ?
-
What's a HO-JO??? is it a lady of the night called Josephine?????

Oh guys it was great! We went to a Country House/Hotel thingy - very romantic - the rooms were in converted stables, and we all were in gorgeous little cottage type rooms - named Apricot Cottage, or Daisy Cottage - so adorable! AND I looked pretty good! Most people there hadn't seen me in ages, and I had an "Extreme Makeover Reveal" moment when I walked and jaws were dropping! I almosed passed out with happiness! My best friend, who is an amazing support to me, had a bit too much wine, and yelled proudly to everyone - "and look how small her boobs are now!!!" eeeeek! I didn't take any photos but loads of people were taking some - I'll get dressed up again and take one for you guys! The best thing was I wore some really high strappy shoes and could stay in them all night! That's my first time spending the night in heels! I was blissfully happy, sitting in an armchair, WITH MY LEGS CROSSED! Seriously, is there no greater pleasure, in weight loss, than being able to cross your legs!???!!! If ever I write a book about this journey, I'm going to call it "Look at me, Crossing my legs!" Anyway, thanks for asking, and sorry for going on and on....pics soon, I promise xx

Yup Denise that's me - thanks for the compliment! I took that photo myself with my cheapo digital camera, and the reason I look presentable, is cos the flash wasn't working and hey, I look good in the dark!

Definitely agree with Donali (do I sound like Rainman???) Just one other thing - I personally would like to know IF any member here HAS used another alias and posted here as another person - I don't want to be inflammatory but I would like to know if this has occured - disagreeing with someone's opinion is one thing, but falsifying a whole identity, and deliberately fooling people is another - if anyone who has done this, we should all be made aware of it, in my opinion. -
Me too! I wanna room at the Hotel El Cheapo too! Alex - have you heard of the Madison? Hubby thinks it might be reasonable? He may be able to get us a corporate rate! Michelle, I'm soooo glad you're coming - you're one of my favourite people here...xxxx
-
Hey, I'm irish....and we just go to it with all the worst language in the world! I'm ashamed! Honestly!!! I'm going to make a real effort to be polite when I meet some of you in NY later this year!!! In the meantime "nuckin futs" is good for when you're in posh places....As in "you kids are makin me nuckin futs...."
-
Oh she's adorable! What a perfect family! Congrats! Ps I LOVE Elmo - glad to see so much of him in the photo!
-
Alex is working on it I believe....and my husband is getting me a list of the places he stays in when he's in the area too....mind you, he said he'd bring home milk from work yesterday.....! So I'm waitin on Alex!!!!!!!!!

Hi Karen, in response to your PM re Paracetamol: It is a painkiller, very very common in europe and sold under various brand names - Panadol being the most well known - and Calpol for children! It has received bad press for a while here, because it is a very dangerous drug if overdosed on - ie many teenagers suffering from depression, on impulse, may OD on a packet of paracetamol, and can die a few days later - stomach pumping is not an option as the drug seriously damages the liver, and there have been many documented cases of regretful people, who attempted suicide, dying later in hospital from liver/kidney failure... It is also contained in a lot of flu and cold preparations - the manufacturers & health dept. in the EU have tried to raise awareness of double drugging on paracetamol - ie taking two pills, then a hot lemon drink containing paracetamol and then maybe a cough syrup also containing the drug....! It is now sold in smaller packages, ie smaller amounts of pills in the blister packs - and people are only allowed to purchase one packet at a time....Well that's the bad press - used carefully, being aware of the dangers, paracetamol is a very safe drug in my opinion - it is very easy on the stomach (thus being safer for bandedkind!) and is definitely "my drug of choice"!!! I used to take Ibuprofin (and also give it to the children) but changed after my surgery as it isn't stomach lining friendly. I just read up on it on the internet for you, and I do believe that it's called acetaminophen in the USA, here is a website that may help: http://www.pharmweb.net/pwmirror/pwy/paracetamol/pharmwebpic.html Advil & Aleve are NSAIDS - ie non-steroid anti inflammatory drugs, containing ibuprofin, and are an irritant to the stomach lining, so I would avoid them and use Tylenol - just my opinion! Hope this answers your question - by the way - which crime authors do you like? I adore crime novels too - my faves all being American!!! Kathy Reichs, Linda Fairstein, Jonathan Kellerman, Tess Gerritsen and Patricia Cornwell! From the UK I love Ruth Rendell of course, and Elizabeth George..... sorry for going off topic guys!!!

It's Magic!!! Just kidding - you can choose any colour/size/font from the drop down menus when you choose the "go advanced" option to reply to a thread....
-
12 days!!!! Less than two weeks Jamie! Are you foaming at the mouth with excitement by now!!!!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!!!
-
A walk definitely helps! I also take dissolvable paracetamol or solpadeine (that's a brand name, it's codeine & paracetamol and also dissolvable in water...)
-
Usually, when I have lunch out with my sisters/friends (who don't know I'm banded!), I have soup - If the kids want a Burgerking once in a while, like Paula, I eat 2 of their chicken tenders! Today we went out for lunch (it's Mother's Day here!) and I had a chicken and goats cheese salad - I just ate the chicken and cheese and left the leaves and croutons! Mostly, like everyone else, I just have the apetizers... Annette - Greetings Neighbour! I'm in Ireland!
-
Penni - definitely! *****fainting with excitement!!!!************

Apparently the Belgians aren't too fond of the Dutch - maybe a little teasing to the belgian nurses about Amsterdam will get you extra pain relief???!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
