My scale did the same thing 2 weeks post op. Leveled off for 3 weeks. Then now I'm losing again. Inches kept coming off because I measure everything every Tuesday. Starting weight 223 Did the pre op diet went down to 212 the day before surgery. I'm 196 today. Banded 2/29. 27 lbs in 6 weeks. I can't believe it! 36 more to goal!

24 Hours Down And This Is Way Worse Than I Expected!
Mau134 replied to Brandi18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. Everyone is different when it comes to recovery. Did the doc give you Nexium? Have you been using the gas x strips? They really do help. Don't be afraid to take your pain Meds. The pain will pass. In 3 days my shoulder pain subsided. I was banded 2/29. I'm 4 weeks out and I feel good. I felt pretty much better after a week. My abdomen was sore by the largest incision site and anytime I got out of or into bed it was like hell! But its temporary. Sleep and rest as much as possible. Prop a few pillows under Ur shoulders to ease the pain. It also helps to be elevated for ease of getting in and out of bed. In a few days you will be as good as new. Take it day by day.. -

Any Southern NJ Bandsters Out There??????

I'm in northern NJ. Was banded 2/29. Doing well so far. Lost about 10 lbs already! The pain isn't so bad, only the shoulder pain is really hurting me. Port site is sore... Back to sleeping on my side. Post op follow up is in 4 more days. The shakes are keeping me full. I'm doing about 2 per day. Finding it hard to fit all the fluids I'm supposed to get but I'm trying... Thank God for chicken broth! I can't wait to lose more weight so I can throw away all of my winter clothes and by thinner spring clothes! Contests Jersey banders! And banders everywhere. This feeling is amazing...this is actually working for me! -
Just a progress update... Was banded Wed @ 10am. Every day is getting easier. The shoulder pain was all I was really feeling- both left and right. The pain Meds took the edge off and let me sleep. I'm much better today. Just dull aches now. Can't fit more than 1 shake in tho, I'm still working on it! Hang in there banders!

Banded! I am now on the other side. I'm in recovery. Dying to go home. My butt is sore from this uncomfy cot but thats about it. Abdomin doesn't hurt much... They gave me the On-Q local anesthetic until Friday. I'm just very thirsty n tired. Congrats to all banded 2/2012!

Tomorrow is the big day. I go in at 8am. I hope it all goes smooth. I can't say I'm not nervous. The hard part is getting through today on only clear liquids, then nothing after midnight. I just hope this works. I'm tired of being over weight. I'm ready for the change. Lost about 8lbs on the pre op diet, hope that was enough, it sure did feel good to step on my scale and see some numbers I haven't seen in years. Good luck to everyone! I took all of your advice and stocked up on broth, gas x, jello, popsicles, Certs, chap stick and some lose, comfortable clothing. Thank you all for sharing your stories. It makes me feel I'm not alone. I do not personally know anyone who has gone thru this before so this has answered many of my questions.

Me too.. Surgery on leap year! 2/29/2012. I have been reading everyone's posts. I'm kind of nervous but super excited all at the same time. Does anyone here live in Northern NJ? I'm seeing Dr. Vaimakis. She seems great so far. Good luck everyone on your journeys! I will post back after surgery. Feel free to message me or add me.

February 29th is my scheduled surgery date. Going thru the pre-op diet now and its not easy. The shakes get repetitive. I'm only supposed to do the protien shakes with skim plus milk and I can have one protien bar through out he day in place of a shake. I guess I can make it through 8 more days. Lol. Does anyone know if its ok to have a meal here and there... Like a boneless, skinless chicken breast cooked with Pam or tuna. I am reading some doctors do not even require a pre-op diet. Any advice, tips or input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
