hi Nyklor... i just read your post and i agree completely with your point of view. im not morbidly obese either but im gaining weight all the time. im 65, going on 66, and should i not take this step, simply because Im not ''morbidly obese".?.. i have big problems with my feet, my knees and my hips. Arthritic. I see my age as the window of opportunity closing for me. if i dont have the surgery done now, im going to be too far advanced with arthritis in my lower body to really be able to have any sort of mobility no matter what my weight is. i weight the same weight as you. i think my BMI is about 30 - 31.. Ive fought big battles over the years with my health and had lots of bone surgery and suffered the pain that goes with it all. im not going into this surgery lightly either. we do have to count the cost... its a biggie and its life changing. this is where the group here is just so wonderful because the reality of it all is talked about everyday. i do appreciate that. i havent been operated on yet.. but this getting to know everyone here and learning all the time is helping me so much to deal with the enormity of what im about to undergo. Because im not morbidly obese i dont think my children would understand at this point. ive only had comments on how i should"walk more.. and other exercise" ... when no one here understands what its like to be overweight and not confident on ones feet. so, im not sharing it with my family. Only my husband, who, of course, has to know whats going on. We were talking about that this morning and he was asking me what does he say to my daughters and son?? We have a plan for all that. i hate to be doing this but i know beforehand what the reaction would be. Never mind that my GP is in full agreement with me as i have a chronic probem... my family wouldnt take that into account at all. So.. thanks for sharing with us.. i understand completely where you are coming from. i wish you all the best for the future. im sure that your weight loss will be really a blessing for you. you are young and have your full life ahead of you. Go for it. judych

this is interesting and i bet it was a real surprise to you. did he give you a reason why he preferred the other surgical procedure?? im interested to know that. How do you feel about this decision he has made? judych

...im sorry that he wasnt more sensitive .... im rather concerned that im going to have the same issues with my husband as well. i hope im wrong, and i hope that your hubbie realizes that he was insensitive and changes.
-
... thanks. are you able to do much yet?
-
i just want to add here. ..im so thankful that you are all sharing. i know that im probably about 6-8 weeks away from having my op... but, you are helping me even at this stage. im really nervous about it all, i know what a huge step it is. Being on here means that i can write everything down, which is what im doing.. so thanks to each one of you.Im understanding so much more than i ever did before.... you are helping me even now. i have my notes and they will be very useful . i will know for sure on the 7th march. once again, thanks for sharing . i read every post, and its all important to me. judych

Trouble With Going To The Bathroom
judych replied to WeaponX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
...no, its not gross. these are issues that everyone has to contend with. if you dont ask you wont get any ideas on how to treat it. have you mentioned it to your dr at all?? perhaps you need to discuss it. im interested to hear what others have done in this situation though. one never knows when they may be in the same boat. -
..it is possible. im going to have to start asking around. i want to have every area covered fairly well when i have my op. if i dont know these things i will worry a lot more. this is why groups like this are so valuable... and i love my computer so much. living in the country can be so isolating. the computer has solved many difficulties for me.

...bummer... they are 3.00 each here and thats not with postage. judych

...this is all very interesting to me. i didnt know that you could get protein shots. what are they in?/ i wonder if i could buy some here, or would i have to buy overseas?/ i might google them and see where i could get them. it sounds easier to get the protein this way when having some difficulties. judych

i, so sorry this has happened to you. i know how hard it must be after all the lead up youve had. if the worst comes to the worst, could you have a sleeve put in?? im no expert though... -
this is such great news and its so encouraging for everyone else. it sounds like doing the hard yards for the first ten days, and then its not so bad is the norm. it will be wonderful for me, i know, to come out the other side of surgery and feel confident for the first time in decades. judych

..your willpower in the midst of everyone eating what must have been a really wonderful meal is commendable. lol. to say the least. not sure that i could manage that though. lol. wishing you and everyone who has their surgery done this week, all the best to each one of you, and we are with you in spirit. looking foward to hearing your experiences as you have the surgery done.

yes, i certainly will keep you posted. im online checking on everyones progress and my appointment is wednesday week. im not sure how long after that i will have the surgery. i want to get it over and done with as soon as possible as winter is coming and its hard on us. I want to feel confident about my diet when winter is truly here ... thats goign to be the litmus test for me. I did ask somewhere, not sure if it was here though. i need to buy an appliance that will puree and also juice. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can buy?? i have no idea at the moment... i think i would want the appliance to do both. What do the rest of you use? judych
