i do feel for you. My experience with burping as been..... the problem was there immediately post op with me. Ive had ongoing episodes with it. Mainly now when im eating. Ive learned to just stretch my arms back over the head and put my hands on my head to expand my chest a bit and it usually works well. sometimes in the middle of a meal it happens and then i know i havent been eating properly. Usually its a sign for me that i need to slow down.

no... not everyone has got it together straight after surgery. Everyone reacts differently. I think the main area of encouragement for you is.... just take each day as it comes. Post surgery brings its own issues, with each one of us slightly different but issues all the same. The soreness, gas, and feeling overwhelmed is all natural. YOu arent alone in this. I went through all that you are talking about here. I wondered what on earth i had done to myself and thought i would never ever cope with it all... but as the days went by, my body reacted in a better way, the pain started to lift and mentally and emotionally i was able to get my head around it all. I think that the main thing for you right now is to try and sip your fluids continuously.. rest up and try and relax a bit. i know this is sounds easy and it isnt but you have to give yourself the healing time and as your body heals your mind will get around the whole banding thing. You arent alone. Hang in there.

Rough Morning- About To Pass Out
judych replied to farmgirl04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it sure must have been scary for you. im wondering about your blood sugar levels... and remembering that your body is going through tremendous changes right now. and thats hormonal as well. i hope that its only an isolated incident. i have episodes where some days im giddy off an on all day. Other days not so much. it could be not enough fluid with me though and im battling trying to change that.i crush my b/p meds up and put them in my coffee of a morning... about mid morning. it goes down well. -
thanks for this. will be trying it out.

some people have smaller meals and four meals a day. If this continues perhaps you could look at doing that?

...talking about peas... i use dried sweet peas for soup all the time. i use them as a base and add tomato , chicken, salsa, all that sort of thing.. pumpkin as well. I buy yellow dried peas and green peas. I also buy lentils.... i love chick peas... add these to soups. you could cook them up and use them in a puree.... in fact they would be really great i think. Can you have onions ?? i usually brown the onions in a little olive oil first. I use a pressure cooker and the flavour comes through really well.

My Stomach Literally Broke Open
judych replied to model's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i can add to this comment with the utmost confidence. I too am a patient of Dr Wilkinson. i have found him to be excellant in his field and very easy to talk with. i agree... try him and see what happens. its only the cost of a phone call. -
I wonder... is it the amount you are eating? how much each meal are you having? Some people dont have obvious signs when they have had enough... do you notice, at any point, a difference in how you feel when you are eating your meal? could you try cutting back on your portion and see how you go?

just want to make a comment on dry meats... i have a pressure cooker and it does such a marvellous job with cooking chicken, beef, doing soups... you name it, its really good. Not only that but a whole chicken cooked beautifully in just over half an hour... corned silverside, 3/4 of an hour... i make fresh bean and pea soup every day... takes about 20 minutes. i wouldnt be without mine. im finding it the best way to cook meats and keep moisture in.

i get the same thing. i dont get either at any other time but i know that if i start sneezing and hiccuping that im in for a bad run. Its not chewing enough and not waiting long enough between mouthfuls. Every time.

MelVan... these operations are a big thing. the knee is very complex and i found that my surgeries were rather painful. Other people often dont have the same issues with pain that i had though. Ive had nearly 20 surgeries on both my knees, starting when i was 15 years old. Ive had bones broken, cartilages repaired, pins etc put in... you name it Ive had it done. All those surgeries in my younger days kept my knees going until i was of the age where they were happy to replace the joints . I think Ive had less discomfort with total replacements... but thats just me. lol. So you have a pool there?? and you live in Florida?? how wonderful. You wont know yourself when your knee is fixed.. remember... when you go to get in that pool, have a swim everyday for me. lol. Thanks for the encouragement on my participation with this forum. i appreciate that. judy

Is Coffee Going To Ruin My Weight Loss?
judych replied to Jellyfish's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i drink coffee black without sugar. i have up to four cups a day... one of them is decaf. it hasnt made the slightest difference to my weight loss. -
im like you. Ive thought about it quite a few times. i didnt get any card or any other I.D either. I think a medical ID on a nice chain would be the way to go. Im thinking of getting one made up for my son ... he takes very powerful anti phsycotic drugs.i may well get one for him and one for myself made up.

firstly... i use morter and pestle to grind my tablets up and put them in black coffee... Im sure i did read somewhere here where an MRI is perfectly safe with the band in place. I dont see why it shouldnt be.

Seem To Have Developed Candy Addiction
judych replied to Cynsayshun's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
..im the same and i had no idea how bad i was before. It seems that having the band in has intensified the urges... maybe because my entire diet has changed? im not eating bread anymore and hardly ever have any white processed flour. but... if i eat as much as one square of chocolate, or have one piece of licorace.... away i go. its hard. -
i use greek yoghurt a lot. sometimes i put a little sweetener in with it as well. it would be a great substitute for sour cream... good idea.

ive had problems with dizzyness and some tiredness. i dont think my problem is b/p related, but im not sure.( i dont drink enough water) i take olmetec for my hypertension. ive been on it now for the last four years.(olmesartan medoxomil tabs). about six months ago the dose was put up from 20 mgs to 40mgs. my average readings are systolic ... around 140. i used to be hypo... very low b/p. ( with constant fainting). Could you ask for another brand of meds?? most of them do have some sort of side effects. Perhaps this one doesnt suit you so well??

i have a small cup of black coffee first thing. it always works well for me. Ive got 3 1/2 cc's in my band and im five months post op nearly. Im due for another small fill in a few weeks. I had to have 1/2 cc taken out about six weeks ago.... im not sure how much i will be able to tolerate in my band either. everyone is different. i know that if i even have a small fill im tight for at least two weeks afterwoods...and not only at breakfast time.

Pain Where The Port Is, Not In The Incision Area
judych replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep... its normal. Even months out from surgery sometimes i might get a sore spot around the port. it goes away again and i dont take any notice of it. Being stitched into muscle means its going to take a while to heal..... just take it easy.
