you mentioned that you had tuna salad?? did that include lettuce?? how did you find it?? my g.p. commented that lettuce might be a bit hard to swallow and digest.. i do love lettuce. i was wondering if i could break it down a bit in the blender.. so that its smaller portions.?

i guess really im just grateful that i dont have a sweet tooth. its portion sizes with me... so hopefully i wont have any cravings at all. its just hoping so much that the band will give me the strength to turn away from having that little bit extra.

o.k.. i wish i knew exactly why the difference between the requirements of my dr and yours. im not on any high protein diet at all. in a way im glad not to be restricted but then again, you have a head start once you get through it all. i wouldnt expect to be losing any weight at all before surgery .

and so do i. at 65 im running out of open doors. i want to be healthy, .. probably not skinny at my age, lol, but a nice figure at least, and definately no hair loss.

Lap Band/plication Misery
judych replied to mommieOf1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i agree with this. perhaps if you insist on talking with your dr?? -
do you think it was the chili?? thats not good. it doesnt seem long enough since surgery though to be having spices i would imagine. what do you think? i know with all my surgeries the most intense healing period is the following six weeks. perhaps to leave the spices for about three months?/ Have they established that you definately have dilation of the esophagus?? is that going to be a big problem for you?? i hope that its not.

yep.. i have exactly the same thoughts and worries. like the dr said, its only a tool that we use. i was thinking this morning about the initial weight loss that happens after surgery, with most people. i read somewhere that the sudden weight loss jolts the body into ''famine mode"" and so it starts to function on far less carbs etc. this is what worries me a lot. ive been on atkins years ago, tried to get into ketosis and it was very hard to even do that. i was using ketone sticks to register it in the urine. so, my body is super efficient at conserving when it has to. I have to lose about 80 - 90 lbs, which is a lot. At the moment, knowing my history, im feeling rather scared that it wont work with me either. Perhaps with the diet afterwoods, being able to stagger the protein intput, carb input? so there is variation there and it fools the body?? what do you all think?/ im certainly goign to talk with the dietician on this one.

thats really interesting to know.. and very handy info as well... how are you doing??
-
..more on this one.. should have included it in the above. i agree just so much about how precious this support group is... you are all very special.
-
you will be o.k.. in fact you are doing really well even now. great to hear that hou are up and moving around. that should help move the gas quickly. Have you had surgery before?? do you have a history of vomiting with surgery?? why i ask you this is.... ive had so many ops over the years. over 20 of them, ive lost count. i have a problem with vomiting that is getting worse as i have each surgery now. the last surgery was two years ago. that was a minor one, i wasnt truly out to it that time. the time before it was a knee replacement and i was so sick afterwoods. this is really concerning me now. im going to have to talk with the anesthesiests next week about it all. they need to know my history. especially when its band surgery. i dont like the though of heaving my stomach out when its just had a band put around it. Keep us posted on how you go. i hope that your nausea has gone by the time you read this.

Happy Birthday To Me!
judych replied to Kate rules's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
..thats just so marvellous... you have done so well. im really looking foward to the day when i can say the same. What a wonderful birthday present to give yourself. congratulations. -
thats great news.. i hear you about coffee.. i slowed down heaps to what i used to have. i do have more decaf now of course. so you think that the caffeinated coffee was aggravating your hernia?/ it probably is with mine as well. im in the process of giving up the caffeine now.. so far so good. as long as i can have one a day. lol. im looking forward to having cayenne.. thats really good for healthy bowels. i have been having it in foods now for a long time. i didnt want to give it up at all.

this sounds really good and im going to write it down for myself. i make my own hommus. i buy tahini, which is pureed sesame seeds, blend it in with chick peas, garlic, a very small amount of apple cider vinegar, a squeeze of lemon juice and a little soy sauce. plus salt and pepper. you can put cayenne in it as well. its a wonderful recipe and far better than the one you buy. you can add Water and make it as runny as you need it to be. i use it all the time, have used it for a dip with raw veges, and for other things as well.

I Got A Slight Unfill And I'm Still So Tight...
judych replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thats my advice too.... if you arent too hungry just on liquids or mushies, keep that up until later in the day. -
it is easier if you only have to cook for yourself, but ive been doing one thing for me and something else for hubbie for years now... so im used to it. So you had a favorite place where all those delicious cakes were sold?? its an easy habit to get into i reckon. no we dont have anything like Tader Joe's, i would be lucky to even find diabetic fruit pops here. im goingto have to start looking in the supermarket now and buy some items to put in the cupboard. hopefully next week i can do that. im not sure that they will even have much for me to buy.i may be buying quite a few baby foods to start with. i will have to resist the wonderful caramel fudge centred cadburys chocs that hubby bought so cheap.. lol. im finding i love to have it of a night, of all times. lol.
-
i reckon it would be scary.. thats a very small amount to bring back up. i wonder why it came back up like it did?/ how much at a time out of that small container did you swallow??
-
this sounds great. ive written it all down for use later on when im done. has anyone done mushy food using chick peas as part of the Protein? im wondering how they would be if they were blended down pretty well first. any one tried them?/ i think i prefer them to tuna actually. i could use other fish though.
-
not good that you vomited. how many mouthfuls of broth did you manage to have??
-
LGB... all the best of luck to you as well.. keep us posted wont you?? are you up to much this weekend?? keeping busy??

Help!! Severe Constipation...
judych replied to ducker2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes ... weve been using it here for years. my hubbie is very hard to get to take anything and he has gut problems, including bowel, and he is quick to use it. i use it off an on. its very very good. i think it possibly would coat the lining of the stomach as well?/ mind you, not everyone can have it thick, you would need to put more water in it.. its very much a sloppy glue consistency when it comes in contact with water... i think thats what sits around the lining of the stomach and gut.. and it helps things to move through easily. actually if you put some diabetic cordial base in with it i dont think drinking it would be an issue.just add more water to it according to taste. all health shops should keep it. -

that sounds great. im goign to have to ask him though. im ringing my dietician early next week and i will have some questions to ask her. i must start to write some down .. thanks for this input. i will be quite happy if i could have a cup of caffeine first thing.; i tend to get a headache if i dont. i have it black without sugar anyway. it sounds like i will be doing that for breakfast. coffee and low fat yoghurt. Greek yoghurt.
