boy... thats rough. have you had pain in this area before?? or has it just started since banding?? do they think that maybe the banding made the gall bladder worse??

    February Bandsters?

..so you are eating lettuce and its o.k.?/ thats so good to hear. my g.p. mentioned that salad veges wouldnt go down well.. also in other posts it was mentioned about raw veges being hard to digest. im so glad to hear that you are eating them... and so soon, as well. keep it up. youve really encouraged me.
  6. can i ask?? when you say that everything that you ate immediate post op... what sort of foods were they?/ was it more than clear liquids?/ im concerned that im going to feel the same way. Im going to buy milk of magnesium. someone said here that it was good to take from day one... any thoughts on that one??

    March Bandsters!

i had a quick look at your blog. congratulations for a wonderful job that you did. was it hard to do?? ive got about 90 pounds to lose. i just love to read of the wonderful success stories here. its so encouraging.
  9. have you ever had back problems?? the nerves from the spine go down both legs. sciatic discomfort or pain in the legs could be coming from lower back issues. have you got any sort of rub you could use on your thighs?/ if it continues you may need to get it checked out?/ could it be from the position you were put in on the operating table?/ i dont know. i do know that various forms of discomfort and pain does come from lumbar spine though. Perhaps a chiropractor could tell you.
  10. lol... great to see the humour coming though.. and you are right, its easy enough to get into a new routine between eating and drinking. ive been thinking that one through as well. in fact, im goign to suggest to my hubbie, who is an early riser, that perhaps he could bless me with an early cup of coffee of a morning. lol.
  11. ... regarding the smaller plates.. ive bought one of the diet plates.. small sections are clearly marked out for each portion. i have been used to eating such big portions that eating small portions is going to be a big re adjustment for me. i think of a morning not being able to have my coffee with breakfast will be a biggie as well.. im going to have to have coffee first ,wait that half hour and then eat. re adjustments that can be made easily enough. its the mind set of years of habit which is the issue.
  12. ...thanks for this advice.. it makes sense. my dr didnt ask me to change before the surgery, it was my idea to do it... i wanted to feel more confident knowing that i could do it. But you are right, in the end, if we want to eat, and we have to eat, then we just do it. and we find out the hard way if we dont do it right.

    Nervous About Going Under

you are so right... prayer certainly does help
  16. yep.. it makes huge sense to me. im the same.. im four days out from being banded and im not able to eat like i know i will have to. its harder somehow because i crave fat, meats, and i dont know what else, but i have cravings. its not nice. its making me more nervous. i know how you feel. not sure how to fix it either. i guess when we are banded is when the rubber hits the road, and we will have to comply.
  17. awww.. i know how you feel about having surgery. i understand your concern because of your daughter.. this is quite a normal reaction that you are going through, even so , its not nice. Emotional overload, like me at the moment. What time are you being banded on monday?/ have you had any surgeries before this?/ ive had about 20 in my life and im still scared. i know how you feel. I dont have a daughter young like you do, but i have a husband who is dependant on me. And a son with mental illness as well. Ive thought about how things could go. Every procedure has its risks. But, you are young, the technology and training that we have access to now are just incredible to say the least. i know that you will be fine. Not long to go now. try and keep busy for this weekend. monday will be here before you know it. what have you done about your post op diet?? have you been shopping?? have you made any clear Soups?? Who is going to look after your little girl for you?? whats her name?/ and how old is she?? Both my daughters are grown up now, in fact both my grand daughters are adult as well. i still remember when my girls were little though. i just know that you will be fine. try and keep yourself busy as you can in the meantime. unfortunately being nervous is one of the things that we have to go through. This is different though... this surgery is life changing. i know the thoughts that you must be having. ''Is this going to work for me??'' i have that thought all the time. My husband was just in here talking with me about it . im not done until thursday. i just had a bite of chocolate. Ray was critical of me having a piece. i said that i know its about the last i will have in a long long time. hang in there.. im going to pray for you. try and enjoy your weekend with your little girl. (( hugs ))
  18. do you mean like ocycontyn ?? thats script here. i imagine that narcotic pain killers would be very bad for constipation wouldnt they?? but, you are right, they do work well.

    Am I Wrong?

its pretty rough when you are having those sorts of thoughts. im so thankful that i dont have a sweet tooth. i just eat too much. How did they know that you had a stomach inflammation?? did they do a test?? what sort of symptoms did you have??
  20. im hoping that the barley green i bought will provide me with everything i need. i must read on the label again. gosh, i cant remember when i last wore size 12s either.... this is great news. im so looking forward to doing the same thing.
  21. this is very encouraging.. thanks.. you know?? when i think back, the highlights of my life in how i felt about myself were when my weight was off. every time i think of those times, how much i weighed at the time was a big factor. I guess because my health was also at its best then. I do believe this is the best thing i could do for myself as well..
  22. thats just brilliant news. when im down that amount i will be back to the weight i was 25 years ago.. at the moment it seems more like a dream than anything. thanks for sharing this one. how has the last year been for you both?

    1 Year Down

i agree completely with your comments here, and thanks so much for the verse from Phillipians.. its very appropriate. It all comes down to the emotional baggage that we carry. having the band fitted is just a part of the whole picture. its a tool. however, the band does not and cant, renew our minds. its there to remind us that we have to be disciplined in our approach to food now. Sometimes the emotional and mental issues remain though, and if they continue to be a problem, then you can get some help. the band is only a tool. its only as good as we allow it to be. i do hope that i can manage mine properly in every way once im banded this week. i need a renewal of my mind and emotions as well. Seek some help if you cant get around the issues you have now. If you are thinking this way even a gastric band would be of no use to you, and worse still, that cant be removed or fixed once its stretched.. I think its obvious that the real battle is in our minds. as long as wel recognise this, we have a good chance of success.
  24. some meal idea from you would be great here as well...
  25. this is just brilliant. have you had any issues at all the last 6 months?? how many fills have you had to have??
