yep. it makes sense. you are probably feeling like a cord has been cut. You have been a part of the family get togethers all your life with meals involved . Now you have stepped back from actually joining in the way you used to with the meals.... i bet you are wondering even if the gatherings will be the same?? im going through these mental issues and i havent been banded yet. i have family gatherings here at our home . we have children in their forties now and they in turn have children. my kids and grandkids have always wanted to come here to celebrate birthdays and xmas. we always have a table that is just groaning with food. Now i know that i cant behave like i used to. i can cook, prepare, compliment the others on their food dishes that they bring, but i cant sit down and wade through like everyone else does. This happens more times in a year that i have ever thought of. im wondering now how much im going to enjoy the social side of it knowing that i cant eat much at all?? ...and , whats more, this is a shameful thing to say. .it makes me realize just how much we were/are depending on the food side of it to enjoy each other. So, no, you arent alone and how you feel isnt silly... its perfectly understandable considering what you have taken on. Give it time, just recognise it for what it is, and work it out. Food isnt supposed to be the crutch for social gatherings... and we need to be able to renew our thinking on this one. Just imagine yourself being with family members, being slimmer, being healthy, being in control. you will find that you will enjoy the gatherings more because you will feel good about yourself through it all. Just a thought, i hope you feel better real soon. sending hugs judy

is it a definate requirement that you lose weight before?? good luck. praying for you.

..and this is the combination that i want/need. if its too complicated im headed for disaster. i just want to be able to have the right amount of food without weight stall or gain. Exercise?? im hoping that later on i can do some significant exercise but at the moment im not very dependant on it. i have to have some improvement in joint/feet function first. im so glad that i have a nutritionalist on board now. i see her on the 4th April. I will have to take into consideration that im taking barley green. Incidentally, barley green is more potent as a safe guard against losing hair and nails.

judych replied to Prtydaph's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i know that its getting close for you now... all the best. look forward to hearing from you on the banded side. take care. all the best of luck to you for your banding. -
thats wonderful news. my primary care dr commented on how hard it would be, also it was in a small booklet that i was given. actually the booklet says that raw salad veges are the last thing to be re introduced. various comments the specialist made just gave me the conclusion that perhaps salads were out?? im so happy to hear that they arent. i love salad. im just in the middle of growing lots of fresh salad lettuces and herbs right now.

i dont know if i will be up to attending church next sunday ... im operated on on thursday. did you have a hernia repair as well?/
-
hi Imazz... so you are not on a pre op diet either?? neither am I. have you cut back at all, or starting taking very small bites and chewing a lot?/ im sort of trying. lol. Your husband sounds a like like mine. thats so nice that he stopped and got you those sugar free ice pops. i must look out for them here. i was going to put some diet lemon cordial mix in water and freeze as ice blocks. thats probably as close as i will come somehow. our supermarket isnt all the diverse. lol.so you are operated on on wednesday?/ You have a big problem with nausea and vomiting? so do I. fortunately ive seen my anaesthesiast an we talked it through thoroughly. He explained that he would start anti nausea drugs with me hours before i go to theatre. im admitted at 11 and in theatre at 3. The best of luck to you. its a huge step we are taking. like you, i have the upmost respect for all these people who have been on liquid diets these last weeks and days. They deserve a medal, seeing as theyve had no band. keep in touch. i hope that you can sleep well the next couple of nights. im in australia. its monday morning here. Im off to have bloods done today. cheers.

i dont blame you. i probably wont get any sleep either. lol. and you have a long way to go as well. im lucky i dont go to surgery until 3pm so i dont have to leave early. who is driving you?? are you staying overnight?/ Have you had surgery before?? the IV is nothing really. try not to stress too much over it. Ive had heaps of them over the years. its not the surgery so much thats got me going... its the life changing event of it all. my surgery is on thursday. good luck to you, im sure you will do really well. let us know when you are able to .

Anti-Inflammatory Question!
judych replied to Cynesra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i hear you about arthritis. im not good with it either.. but im managing with osteo panadol. now im just not sure about these tabs after surgery. they are rather large, in the shape of a capsule and i reckon they would worry me. im goign to have to ask the dr about them.my main attack after lapbanding is the barley green. i know how good it is for easing inflammation in the joints. im hoping that i can get my body back to a more alkiline state than it has been. i now its been so acidic all these years. it needs a good cleanout. ive had barley green before, many years ago. it helped me enormously then. made my skin good and even made my hair shiny. ive bought a kilo of it and have a teaspoon every day. maybe two if i can get it down. Having to be on meds does make it harder. im glad that your meds dont make it hard for you. -
..and the best of luck to you as well.. my surgery is on thursday at 3pm
-
... actually we live in the country and there just isnt the supply of ready to eat products that one would normally get in the city. im used to it. lol. well, the broth didnt taste too bad i must say, i sampled it. i will put some bonoxin it though to give it more flavour i think. im going to do the same with beef and lamb. boil up for stock, add fried onion rings, boil a little more and then sieve the lot. hopefully these will get me through. i have bought some protein meals.. powdered shakes, i havent tried them yet. i love soups as a rule so i think i will mainly go this way. . for now, anyway. probably at the end of it i will never want to see soup again. lol.

Getting Banded On Monday And On Emotional Overload....please Help
judych replied to Prtydaph's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you have done a magnificent job losing that amount, it must make you feel really good about what you can achieve.. and theres more to come i think. Your little girl is gorgeous. is this her in your pic that youve put on here?? she is a darling. so she is about 4 years old now?? is she the daughter you had by caesarian?/ i had to have a caesarian with my youngest daughter as well. she is now 38. how time flies. it sounds like you are well prepared now. not much else you can do, just enjoy the sunshine with your daughter. the day will go quickly enough. Yes, im going to have to have a little talk with my hubbie if he gets more critical . i need him to be supportive not negative. in the beginning he was supportive to the hilt but i think he realizes now that its no ''walk in the park'' and he is cross that i allowed myself to get this big anyway. No understanding of the emotional baggage behind it at all. i wouldnt even try to explain it to him. but, if he isnt supportive i will let him know in no uncertain terms. I live in Australia. the southern most state which is an island.(tasmania) we are on the eastern seaboard, facing out over the ocean. its a beautiful spot. there are some wonderful walks here for me to do as well. As soon as im well enough to start walking again i will be doing just that. im starting on my barley green now as well, so hopefully my whole system will be cleaned out and my joints will respond well. i have arthritis badly in both knees, feet, hips etc. thats why im having the surgery. i need to lose about 90 pounds. its not a lot with the band but impossible for me without the band. Anyway, id better close. all the best for you on monday.. i will be thinking of you. judych -
it sounds like it is.. did you get a chance to talk with your anaesthesiast before the surgery?/ i had a really good talk with mine on friday. i have a history of vomiting.. badly. im hoping that he has really got this one sorted out. i guess i will know on thursday, eh? .....
-
oh yes,ive heard of this one. in fact the cure for it was found in Australia i believe. its helibactor pylorie..?? is that right?? and we all have a certain amount of it but some people have thousands more than normal. i think thats the way it goes. so you had it?/ and they gave you antibiotics for it?/ how long is the treatment for?..

yep..lol.. know the feeling well. lol.
