thats going to be awful if you have to have the band removed. not bad going with the weight loss for that tie though... way to go. i hope you dont have to have it removed. i didnt have any fill when the band was inserted and probably wont have any fill at the end of next week either. thats my first visit with the dr. -
ready4rchange... thats great news.. so am i. lol. so glad to have it over and done with. actually i dont feel so bad myself. gas hasnt been that big a problem, probably more in the first 12 hours after surgery but not so bad now. im not taking gas x.

Liquid Diet Ideas-Help
judych replied to tammyg1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
.. i feel for you, i have the same thing coming up with me im thinking. lol. sorry... i dont have any ideas yet. if i come up with any i will let you know. When you say you are trying to stay positive, but its changing your mood and attitude.. do you mean that you regret taking this step of banding? -
Lori... thats marvellous that you are managing so well now. it must have been a nuisance with the oxygen.. a good thing that you are off it now . my sats were low, they told me to do a lot more deep breathing, and the night after the surgery that was what kept me awake. lol. just concentrating on deep breathing all the time. i dont have to have protein drinks, just fluids for the time being. its amazing how different the drs are with their protocols. ive got some clear chicken broth that i made though and i will have that later on. im starting to feel a little hungry but have to ignore that. im allowed 200mls of broth each meal. im having tea, coffee, diet flat cordial and my chicken broth today. Tomorrow i can start on the protein drinks, have yoghurt in milk, other liquids. thats for a month. this is the lapband hell that everyone talks about im assuming. lol. at the moment im a teeny little bit hungry, not much though. i can pretty much ignore it. how is everyone else doing?? im not havaing any soft foods for a month. the dr explained the fluid as being'' anything that can be sucked up through a straw".. so thats the consistency of what im having until this time next month. i should see a substantial weight loss.

how did you go?? did you lose the weight they wanted to to lose?

i did explain to my youngest daughter when she came in .... i felt unsettled not telling her the whole truth. I did tell her about the hernia. i know she was very insistant about coming in to see me. i decided when she came in that i would tell her about the banding. im not sure about telling any of the others though. my son in law is a dreadful gossip... ive caught him out on it before. . and my eldest daughter tells him everything. i live in a small town and dont want it to be common knowledge. people would look at me and say im not obese, but they dont know the trouble i have with my joints and my blood pressure with the weight ive got on. so i think i will just leave the sharing for moment.

thats great that you are off to work on monday. i was just as well you found out what was causing the problems.. how awful when you had just come home to have that happen. congrats on being banded. its over . now the adventure starts. lol.

...welll , im home, was banded on thursday afternoon, had a hernai, as i thought. im sore... some gas affecting the nerve in my shoulder, but i find if i take a deep breath that helps a lot. ive had a small cup of coffee this morning which went down slowly but well. ive got some clear home made chicken soup out for later. im not having any trouble keeping anything down so far, which is good. i did find thursday, after surgery when trying to have some ice that it tasted very salty. the staff told me that sometimes the taste buds get affected... not sure if thats temporary or permanent. lol. i even tasted a little salt in my coffee this morning... go figure.. lol. Has anyone else had this? i was unwell on thursday afternoon... wanting to vomit.. the staff put so much "" stuff"" in my drip i was doped to the eyeballs... didnt sleep well on the night of the op. was trying my deep breathing all night. yesterday morning i was dozing a lot. the dr came in, said i could go home if i could keep liquids down, so i came home about mid afternoon. To a nice warm fire burning and my own bed. i didnt sleep all that well last night either. After travelling for nearly two hours in a car i was a bit stirred up. no matter.. im up and feeling a lot better today.. still sore but feeling better. how is everyone else doing that was banded yesterday??

Getting Banded On Friday And So Confused???
judych replied to nicole1095's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi there.. just a thought. im going to take barley green. its in powder form, its organic, and its better value than taking vitamins. its a lot like spirillina to taste. ive had it before and i know its really good. Bets of luck with your liquid diet and surgery. -
thanks... yes, i agree. perhaps the time will come when i can talk about it. not now though... im feeling pressured enough without family judging me. better close for now. got to do a few things before i leave. (( hugs))
-
boy.. thats rough... im so sorry that you had all that. take it easy now.
-
because they would all expect me to be able to do the same as your daughter expected you to. And, no amount of talking would change their minds. not worth it. Plus the fact i cant trust my son in law not to spread it around the district. He is a gossip.
-
thanks... appreciate this. ive had some pressure from my youngest daughter. you may not remember but i never divulged to any of my family what i was having done. apart from hubby. well... my youngest daughter has been insisting that she come in to see me in hospital soon after surgery. i just had to send her a firm text telling her to humour me and leave me be. i dont want her finding out what the true reason for surgery is. its hard, but i felt i had to just say, please stay away!! what would you do??
-
ive had oxycodone in the past. i hope if they give it to me this time that i tolerate it a lot better than before. it made me vomit everytime. it will be interesting to see what they give me.
-
thats great news. im so glad that your first experience at general surgery went so well. i hope that you continue to improve quickly.. what pain meds are you taking?? is it liquid??
