Suddenly Feeling Really Nervous
judych replied to amandacoop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
out of everything you have mentioned here i think the fact that you are lifting your 2 year old child is the most worrying.. no matter how you feel, it takes up to six weeks for tissues to heal and for everything to be secure. there are differences on this forum from a lot of drs about post op diet. i dont think its a big issue.. its the lifting thats the worry. -

Deb... im sorry you are feeling miserable... i hope it goes very quickly. i just wanted to make a comment on my port. i havent felt along the area at all so i dont know much about my port, but its black with bruising, it really is. so, i can see with the bruising just how big it is and where it is. has anyone else had this?

oh dear... lol. what a mountain of temptation.. lol. i wouldnt be able to help myself either. do you have a sweet tooth as well??i think theres no doubt that its the mind thats the battle ground. That and the emotions. So much so that if anyone found their band wasnt working that it would be really important to seek some help for mental and emotional issues. that would certainly make a world of difference to the outcome...and, after going through all that preparation and surgery, its very important in some cases. im hoping and praying that my emotional leanings and my mental state are able to adjust and change as i go through all this. I really do think now that some people do need extra help with shedding the bad habits and negative mind sets that accompany overeating. i know how many ive chalked up since food became my problem. In my opinion if the band isnt working... seek help from a professional. Dont give up on it. There is victory.

its great that you handled your pre op diet so well, and i think that you are so right, it does help you and strengthen you for what comes after. for example, ive not had any pre op diet and the afterwoods wasnt easy. im just over a week post op. But, having said that ,each day brings its rewards and more discipline, and my stomach seems to be adjusting really well. i still get hungry but i was a big eater before.its a strange co incidence, but ive seen so many shows, which just happen to be on my favorite t.v. programs this last week about severely obese people and how they have had to cope, plus how they have tried to change their lives and their eating habits. very interesting viewing and its strengthened my resolve that ive definately done the right thing. cheers

Severe Gas Pain - Two Years Post Op
judych replied to ccsweetss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
did you have a hiatus hernia done as well when you were banded?? this is something you need to discuss with the dr. its not a normal thing for someone to suffer from it consistently for so long. -
..and this is the question that each one of us has had to deal with. Yes, you can, and we all can. the power of positive thinking .

judych replied to Jennifer16005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i just wanted to add a few thoughts about the speed of losing weight and age. because of my age i dont want to have ''love handles'' hanging off me everywhere with the shrunken skin that oldies so often get. ive got about 78 lbs to go... is a year too quick do you think?? i know that i cant guarantee how quickly i do lose, but i thought it would be interesting to get your opinions. -

...speaking of... im developing (overnight) a ''stitch pain'' in my right abdo. where the descending colon would be. when i walk around i have it. its only just present when i breath deeply.. so its not a big concern. ive had one BM in 7 days... and im wondering if thats whats causing it?? i havent taken any meds for bowels yet Anyone else had problems similar to this one?? -
it could be just a bad day. i have the odd one or two still... i guess its to be expected.

Day After Lap Band Surgery
judych replied to Brad P's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was really concerned about that as well but it was easy to fix. i ground my tablets down into powder and introduced the powder to a milk and protein shake. i couldnt taste anything and it went down without any problems. are any of your meds a time release?? if they are you cant grind them down to powder.
