Surgery Yesterday.. Well Ten Hours Ago..
judych replied to KAllison =)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
boy.. youre doing it tough.. i hope youre feeling better real soon. -
has it helped you having the yoghurt?? im the same, was banded on 22nd. i had no lead up with any diet so it was hard for me.. i suffered a lot of hunger once i was home about two days. ive been having greek yoghurt, watered dow, skim milk, protein powder, all mixed up since about three days post op. perhaps it was a bit too soon? but i couldnt just have watery fluids. everything ive had i could get up through a straw, it just wasnt as thin as water. its good you arent getting much pain now. let us know how the applesauce goes down. i havent tried that yet. ive had some pumpkin soup with some potato blended in for tea, that was good and it was filling as well.

Lap Band Yesterday, Nausea Today
judych replied to mere0023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
..its very important ,especially considering the nature of the surgery . i had an appointment with my anaesthesia specialist and we spent over half an hour just talking about nausea and preventing it. i did have some yukky moments after waking from surgery but it was soon dealt with, as the drugs were on hand to put straight into my IV... so it pays to talk it out with your anaesthesiest beforehand. Then they are fully prepared with the best they have to help you. -

..and how wonderful is this?? to be able to water ski again. ive got memories ... ((sigh )). i guess i havent thought too hard about the extra things i can do.. mainly because ive had such a bad run for so many decades now of arthritis.. but, when i think of it.. i want to swim again regularly, be able to ride a bike everyday.. now, im going to swim when my tummy has healed but hadnt thought of a bike. im goign to talk with hubbie and trying one out. WAY TO GO ... lol..

isnt is marvellous how you change??and its great. i reckon you are pleased. ive got choc flavor protein, and i always have greek yoghurt ,decaf coffee and skim milk in it as well. thats plenty sweet enough for me.i guess ive always been lucky though, ive never had a sweet tooth. weve had all sorts of sweet goodies on the table and ive not been interested . i crave more flavour with my soups. im using some mod salsa, garlic powder, lemon juice, things like that . this is what i crave more. im hoping that i can have these things when im on solids. i used to have hot chilli everyday but not sure now about all that.
-
thats great. what a gift, eh?? lol. were you very far post op ?? or was it the first week?
-

hi Katy.. i was done on the 22nd and i have exactly the same as you. in fact i have three large rolls now, more swollen on one side than the other. lol.. not the best sight in the world. there doesnt appear to be much sign of my stomach going down yet i wonder how long it will take?? its bulging even more over my waist, which is elastic.
-
yes, i did think that it wasnt an issue. after all the muscle was involved. its not sore . i went on a trip in the car to see my referring dr yesterday and by the time i was travelling home my whole abdo was sore, including where the hernia was fixed. it was still sore when i got up this morning. We dont have good roads here.

with good reason... its one of the most exciting journeys you will take. good luck with it all.. and enjoy your vacation.

Help Once Again Please
judych replied to Kristie_melvin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes it will. your dry mouth is some dehydration and you would have had, have a drip in to help combat that. also the ice to such helps a lot. sometimes the taste buds get temporarily ''stuffed up'' but it doesnt last long. when i came back from surgery i had the awful mouth and everything i had in the way of liquids and ice was ''salty'. it was the staff that told me about the taste buds. i had the salty thing for about two days and it left. -

armymum..thats a fair while out from surgery for issues. i hear you about milk of magnesia. i tried everywhere to buy it here and couldnt find it, so i had to buy it online from America. isnt that just so rediculous?/ im sure its available but its finding it and if its not online i have no hope of doing that. im hoping to get my order next week. perhaps its me having the same issues then?? i did wonder. im still getting some gas in my bowel. its a bit hard to know, isnt it. anyway im glad im getting the milk of magnesia. i just cant understand why a great med like that would be taken off most shelves here. it doesnt make sense. -
just marvellous im really looking foward to smaller trousers.

Lap Band Yesterday, Nausea Today
judych replied to mere0023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are right. i cant take any opiate products, i get more ill each time i have them. -
lellow..so you are having them as well?? i hope its regular. its a great feeling. im waking up with it and today for the first time it went right through the day. even with the tedium of travelling... having to watch my hubbie eat a place of fries, lol, and shopping. it was great. im glad to hear that others have it as well. What a bonus. Incidentally, i had a visit with my referring dr today. she was most impressed and congratulated me on my progress.. especially knowing how bad my feet and lower legs were. So, that was great to hear. My blood pressure is down from 147/80 to 130/70.. for the first time in years. This week has been crucial in changing things for me.
