  1. dont beat yourself up... it does happen to most of us. ive got a few tips here... im new at the game myself but im two weeks out and ive found ways to stop the hunger.i use mostly beef consomme. i add to that ...medium salsa, small amount of cooked potato, very small amount of cooked carrot, sometimes i add some babyfood. i add sliced tomatoes, tomato paste as well. i add sometimes as little chilli... mild not hot. i then blend all this up until its smooth. If family have had cooked veges i will add just a tiny amount as well... it makes a great soup... with enough flavour that i can put my spoon down and still savour that taste in my mouth. with the Protein smoothies im using greek yoghurt, quite a bit of that, skim milk, Protein powder, sometimes some coffee. now im into my second week, of a night, after ive had my soup, i make up a protein smoothie with cooked apricots or raspberries.. greek yoghurt, skim milk and protein powder. im not having any issues with hunger now. i hope you find recipes that will help you out as well.

What Do They Have Us Do

amandacoop i dont understand it either. i know that the pouch has to heal after surgery... but really, how long does it take? there is a huge difference in protocols with graduating from liquids to solids.

    Slow Weight Loss

thats pretty good weight loss it is hard post op trying to just stay on liquids. ive been borderline... putting various veges, whatever in my soups. i could only just get them through a straw. i did mention to the dr what i was doing and he wasnt concerned though. i m having slightly more solids blended in with the protein etc... and in soups as well... but they are basically still liquids. i have good days and not so good days. Are you still hungry??

    March Bandsters!

good on you MelVan.. we are all different. im like you, i have problems walking, but for you and i, losing the weight will mean more mobility. thats more than worth going through the banding process. Ive lost about 13 pounds in two weeks. a lot of that was fluid. in that time my blood pressure has come down from 145/80 to 130/70 . im just so thrilled. So... there are important changes going on in EVERY body here, regardless of whether its seen yet or not. Keep the faith everyone. This surgery DOES WORK. WE all need to make our minds and emotions come in line with the lapband. Im 2 weeks out from surgery today. i weigh myself every morning. i dont think that im going to lose any more weight quickly like i did... but that doesnt matter. Already years are gone off my face and neck... already i can walk with less pain. So.. hang in there. there ARE positive changes going on in everyone... and not just weight loss.
  10. ..what a thoughtful ,generous thing to do. i reckon they will remember you with fondness. its really sweet of you.

  15. hi all. Yesterday was my first day away from the house . I had my post op appointment with my surgeon. He practises in the city which is nearly two hours travel for us. I was concerned about how i was going to manage with fluids while away. my husband would need to have lunch somewhere and i knew i had to go prepared. I bought some cuppa Soup mix. took it with me, asked for hot Water and a disposable cup, and had my lunch while hubby ate chicken burgers, chips, you name it, he had it. Im always cross that he never seems to put on much weight at all . Not fair.lol...but thats life. Anyway, so we sat together and had our lunch. What was amazing for me was the fact that i never for one moment wanted to share his lunch. no tummy growls, no salivating, lol. i just went ahead in anticipation of my own meal. ..and whats more i enjoyed it. It just shows how we can get to really appreciate what we can eat... even though we are very restricted.like i said, i enjoyed my lunch and it kept me going. i do hope that this appreciation of every mouthful stays with me now for the rest of my life. its quality not quantity. Incidently, my surgeon was so happy. we were both excited by my first weeks results. i dont think it happens all the time that there is such a profound change in ones body after surgery but i was very lucky to have it. So... another hurdle jumped for me. Fortunately i love soup and i love to experiment . i prefer stronger taste over quantity. if my taste buds are satisfied then my stomach is satisfied. just thought id share. .my first major hurdle out from the sanctity of my home.
  16. thanks.. i enjoyed my lunch. i like the way you cook your carrot strips, etc.i must try that for myself when i can eat them. my tummy is rumbling now. i might go and make a protein shake i think. g'night. judy

    March Bandsters!

is your job a desk job? if it is, maybe its the sitting position for long periods that sets it off?? ive noticed when travelling a long way that i get the same thing. even if there is no direct pressure on my wounds.

    Helllpp Im Starvin!!!

its a hard time. i feel for each one of you. here is what im doing to get through the ''band hell' period. i suggest, try doing some experimenting with what you can have.. a soup can be made to be very tasty and filling... it doesnt have to be bland. im really trying to do just that right now and its helping me . for example, having a small bowl of soup that has a lot of flavour means that i can take a smaller mouthful, put the spoon down, savour the taste, i can wait for the 20 odd seconds before the next spoonful. im using mod. salsa in my Soups. thats a strong flavour and leaves a lingering taste on my taste buds its a real help. anther one... garlic salt, then there is fresh lemon juice. all are marvellous in and on soups.Om sure there are other ideas. think if it as an adventure, not something that has to be ''endured''. you can make the liquids a lot more flavoursome .

    Question - Body Image

as i read these posts i cant help but wonder. how long have you all have these weight issues?? has it been for the most of your life?? if it has then the mindset does have some renewing to do. i suggest you start speaking out loud to yourself. its not stupid, the power of words is a fact, as we know. start speaking positive words so your own ears can hear it. keep re enforcing it. ive been overweight for about 25 years... severely overweight plus unhealthy for the last ten. i can remember what it was like to look and feel really good. i also have a beautiful pic of both my hubbie and myself on the shelf in my room where i can see it. its a very flattering pic but most of all i see the health just shining from my face. I think that time also is a great healer, and thank the Lord for loving friends who are brave enough to be honest. family members as well. sometimes we need their positive input.
