  1. i agree. im in the same situation and its been really hard for me cooking for two men and doing big meals for them.. im considering having my meals beforehand and just sitting at the table with them to talk. its often the case that im still eating way after they have finished and are moving around cleaning the table. i dont like that. im not enjoying me meals with their activites so im thinking seriously of just having my meals first. All the advice here is good. i must remember about drinking more water as well. i have coffee which dehydrates .
  2. if it were me i would take a week off if able to. It does take a few days to just get the anaesthetic out of the system.
  3. this is really interesting but i suppose when you think of it , it does make sense.

    5Th Week Post Op

im trying to not get on my scales so much. i know that ive slowed down ... i dont think ive lost any weight in about three days, but, having said that, my waist is coming back and im losing my stomach so even though its not registering on scales something is happening. Im having mushy foods now. anywhere between 800 -1000 most days. Some days im not quite that much. im a month today.
  5. ... have you been putting yughurt in your protein shakes?? i did right from the beginning and it made a difference to me.. there is extra protein in the yoghurt. i use Greek yoghurt. it seems to be the best. good luck. i know what its like to suffer those awful hunger pains, and i had them about four days out myself.

    Calorie Intake

well.. im trying to stick to a half a cup... some veges and some meat. its hard to get anymore than about 800 calories up, even with the Protein drink and Snacks. im hungry inbetween meals as well. its hard at the moment. im about two weeks off my first fill. im looking forward to not having the feeling of hunger. Has anyone got any ideas for a half cup of food? im trying to get as much protein in...ie, fish, as i can, with a small amount of veges.

    Unsure

....Theres no doubt that its a big decision, and not to be taken lightly. All surgery has its risks. you say that you have health issues, due to being over weight?? If you do have, then, like me, it will help you to make up your mind . I knew that if i didnt have it then i was cutting off many years of my life. it was that simple. I dont like surgery either... ive had many, but this time i know that i stand my best chance ever to claw back the years that bad health was threatening to take away from me. ive been banded now for a month.
  13. ...and ive had halitosis, which i never suffer from.... not nice. Ive also had a coating on my tongue. not aware of any problem with coating on my teeth though.

    February Bandsters?

hi there Deb... you are doing really well. like you, being over 60 i dont think i need as much either. its really hard to meet the calorific requirements of 1000 even. your weight loss is great. i havent lost anything in a few days. judy
  15. of course you can have some wine.. not too much, can you water it down some or put lots of ice in it though??

    First Time Stuck Today!

just saw this post.. hang in there. i hope you are feeling better than you were. youve just had a big surgery and it does affect the emotions as well. It will get better... i can assure you of that. nearly everyone here has had bad days and emotional ups and downs... it seems to be 'par for the course'. not that its nice though, because it isnt. Just think about the day you are in... try not to think ahead, the enormity of it will get to you. Your body will heal and adjust and each day that comes along you will be able to handle well. sending a hug now. (( hugs ))
  17. wonderful news that its over and done with. now its recovery time .. look after yourself.

    Calorie Intake

o.k... that would include your protein drinks as well...?? i havent got a clue how much im getting a day in the way of protein. i must try and work it out.3 days out from surgery it would be hard to take in 700... you are doing well. im assuming that you are on just clear liquids right now??

    New Springer Here!!!

more on this. im getting about 800 calories a day right now... its really hard to get it up much more when we are having small serves.

    New Springer Here!!!

its taking me at least that long as well... especially with meat as i chew a lot longer and wait longer in between mouthfuls. Aat lunchtime it took me 3/4 of an hour. Im having a half cup. trying to keep it at that. Im hungry enough to eat the lot at the moment. its just im so slow. You could be a bit swollen still.... its not that long since you were banded. it takes at least six weeks - two months for initial swelling to subside. i dont think i have much swelling now . im a month on the 22.. two days away. i do feel some restriction though so there must be some there but not much i dont think.im having fish tonight. just trying to work out on myfitnesspal the weight of my fish so i can add it to my chart. it looks as if , when i work it all out, im still down on calories. im only supposed to have 1000 a day at the moment.

I Can Officially Join The Springers

well... believe it or not, it will be a blessing in disguise for you in the long run. im in australia and didnt have any diet leading up to my surgery at all... and i was a big eater. Can you imagine the trauma of diet re adjustment after surgery?there was no shrinkage of my stomach at all. I think in retrospect that if id known i would have put myself on a restriction before hand. It was hard what i went though after woods. im just really starting to come out of it now. So... when you get fed up... think of the alternative.... better to do it now than afterwoods.

    February Bandsters?

yes, im wondering now how much different it will be. Im so glad that you were able to put those couple of down days over Easter behind you. I agree.. your band was helping you even then although you didnt feel like it was . The same as me. i had two days of eating jubes and craving sugar... just out of the blue. Like you though i never put any weight on, and im really grateful for that. Being hungry like ive had this last week and over easter was bad. Im feeling heaps better now though, im back on meat. its a month now since i was banded. the nutritionalist said that i should have been on thicker foods before this. Easter coming in the middle of appointments and me having to cancel was a bother. 40 minutes is pretty good. i would love to have mine that far away. Its a big day away for us now having to drive to the city. nevermind, its something i knew i was taking on when i decided to have the operation, i just have to grin and bear it. lol. Im wondering now... perhaps i may only get 2?? i have a 10 so they wouldnt go past 8 , surely. i do know that im waiting in the drs office for at least an hour after ive had the fill.... im not leaving anything to chance after having the fill. i need to have enough time in the waiting room sipping on fluids to know that everything goes down o.k.
